That would probably require editing the resources of the boot loader. Mind you, I have no idea how someone would do that, but it seems reasonable that is the solution.

Is this comment not in the BIOS since that is where one sets the boot order and therefore, the BIOS issues that comment when it is determined a bootable CD was detected? 8)

simply open bootfix.bin with a Hex editor like UltraEdit, then type your message to overwrite the old one...
but i'm not sure if the new string could be longer than the old one...

No ChiefZeke. The actual text is a part of the boot loader on the CD. The reason I can say this, I have an older DOS boot loader that contains very different text.

Besides, most boot loaders only include such text for convenience. All the BIOS is programmed to do is boot from a certain device, if successful, then it does not have to try the next device. Hence, if your CD is set to boot first, you see the message.

Linux boot loaders are very useful in this context, as they usually have a wide array of options on which to boot operating systems, etc. The NT boot loader is limited to the CD or the hdd. The DOS boot loader is typically also limited to the CD or the hdd.
