Independant email providers?

Post by newsposter » Wed Jan 13, 2010 1:36 am

Ok, deliberately ignoring local & national ISPs as well as AOL, live/hotmail, gmail, ymail/yahoo, etc.......

What email providers are people using?

I'm looking for a provider with:

pop3/imap/smtp & web access
ssl & optional encryption
short, sweet, no-nonsense privacy policy

recommendations and thanks!

I wasn't looking for a new email provider, but that service looks interesting. I'll definitely add it to my list to keep in mind in case I do want/need yet another alternative email address. Thanks, armond!

Ok, I finally settled on using mail.com.

a) their free mail-only service has sufficient 'features' for my needs including pop and imap.
b) upgrade to premium services is reasonably cheap including web space and hosted domains.
c) no penalty for parking email addresses there pending a deliberate move on my part in a few months.
d) they had all of my ***@someisp.com email addresses available so it will look as though I'm just changing providers and don't have to confuse anyone with a change of my email 'name'.

Has anyone had the guts to check out the new Iranian .ir email service now that gmail has been wholly blocked there?
