He's been MIA for about a year now. I think it's time to accept that he's probably dead ... or he hates us.

Either way, I'll miss you buddy.

I updated Notepad2 with code folding based on the Bookmarks Edition, but I can't release it publicly until I hear back from code65536 regarding it. lol

His last post was almost eleven months ago. But ricktendo64 is right: his last prolonged absence was from 2007/09/26 to 2008/07/15. If the pattern holds we should see him again in a fortnight. :)

As an appreciative user of most of his x64 releases (Notepad2 mod, CmdOpen and HashCheck shell extensions), I'm not voting in the hope that he'll return soon.

Your modded Notepad2 looks good, dumpydooby. I look forward to using it when you can release it. However, I did change your IMG tags to URL tags in the post above since the screenshot was a bit wide for those that are widescreen deficient.

I vote for "neither". Real life always has a habit of getting in the way of our projects.
I'll bet he's got either:
a) A new job
b) A new significant other ;)
c) A new interest

IMO code65536 is a open source kinda guy, he would not mind one bit if you take over updating notepad2 in his absence...I think that's why he publishes the source so others can do it for themselves

Look at Dino Nuhagic (a.k.a. nuhi of nLite and vLite fame), he's been A-wall for quite some time now too ;-)
Probably met a girl, having a child and such, it takes loads of free time away from other tasks.

No it wasn't

MS moved him and his family to the states and hired him.

Might as well let the cat out now.

MS DID hire him and there was a clause in his contract that he had to just "Drop" nLite and vLite...

Lets hope he his MUCH better off where he is now huh?

Slightly off topic but related to Kelsenellenelvian's post. (I can post in a separate topic if the mods think it is necessary.)

Here is another tool that I ran across just recently:
Bored with updating multiple Windows images in a single WIM file? Bored with checking for new updates and installing patches from Windows Update? Don’t want to patch every VHD file manualy? Imagepatcher is a script that allows you to automate the whole process.

The script detects all required updates for Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2 (sorry no Vista and Windows Server 2008 support), downloads the updates and patches all or selected images in the wim file. Imagepatcher can also mount a VHD file and patch it offline. No longer do you have to check for updates and spend many hours with manual patching every Patch Tuesday. You can use the downloaded patches with MDT as well.
The product talked about is imagepatcher.
Site is here: http://imagepatcher.codeplex.com/
Original article here: http://feeds.4sysops.com/~r/4sysops/~3/fQP-YhPqgoE/

It's codeplex.com ;)
But reading the docs:
Definitions and updates are downloaded directly from Microsoft windows update but some updates are static and definitions are downloaded from http://optimalizovane-it.cz/support/static.xml.
Shame it relies on some one in the czech republic to update a static .xml file. I'd prefer if it pulled the data from the M$ catalog directly.

Why? If you used NoRedirect to follow redirection chains manually, you'd discover two URLs that have been around for a long time: 1, 2
Edit: I just realized that you don't need to follow the redirect chain to discover those links: they were already in the first posts of those threads! :P

Oh wait, I'm supposed to be dead.

You also get a cookie. In fact, I even prefer the more open BSD license (if you ever read the boilerplate license in the installer, you'll see the only thing that requires consent is an endorsement).

So, dumpydooby, now that you've gotten code65536's blessing, any chance you will take over updating Notepad2? I suggest that only because it is no longer listed as an Active Project on http://code.kliu.org/.

It had never been listed there; none of the things under "misc" are listed under "Active Projects". Besides, 99.9% of Notepad2 is the work of either the Scintilla project or Florian, so it'll be presumptuous to call it anything more than what it is: a modest collection of patches.

Also, the section right above "Active Projects" says this:
6 Mar 2011 – Updates: QuickDrag 2.1.0, NoRedirect 1.3.0, and ContextConsole 2.1.0

* QuickDrag version 2.1.0 has been released, with support for the latest versions of Firefox and SeaMonkey and 8 new translations.

* NoRedirect version 1.3.0 has been released, with support for the latest versions of Firefox and SeaMonkey, support for the Swedish locale, a new feature (disabled by default) that adds redirects that were not interdicted to the session history, and various minor bug fixes.

* ContextConsole Shell Extension version 2.1.0, formerly known as the "Open Command Prompt Shell Extension", has been released with support for a number of new locales and the %ComSpec% environment variable.

* Three new command-line utilities are now available: elevate, timeclone, and vcopy.

* There will be updates to URL Flipper, HashCheck, and the modified Notepad2 builds in the near future. Finally, ClassicFox has been officially retired.

My preference would be for people to apply my patches (once I get around to updating them for the latest NP2 version) to alternate NP2 versions and create builds themselves, rather than spin binaries for every variation. Which brings up another problem: the website that you point to only has the binaries, no source code. So even if I wanted to create a modified French version, I cannot.

Actually I've made a build of notepad2 combing both english.rc and self-made simplified_chinese.rc.

The problem exposed is that the string_ids differ if you applies different people's patches.

BTW, @code,
do you have any interests on the project Madedit? It the best editor i've used ever, supporting seamless hex-edit also.

No. I'm very loyal primarily to NP2 and secondarily to Scintilla because of Scintilla's versatility, maturity, and wide support and development base.
