Another optical drive issue, folks.
Occasionally, during some disc work I've seen my IDE drive go into PIO mode at random, and I know how much of a bitch it is to get it back to DMA mode again. So long as I remember at least one solution (uninstall the secondary IDE channel, reboot and let it reinstall), I'm all good. But this counts for nothing if I'm trying to deal with a disc that doesn't look damaged at all and yet XP keeps putting my drive into PIO mode every single time!
Surely there's some kind of hack or something that'll tell XP to not even consider PIO mode in future? I don't like the idea that it's "forced" on you regardless of how you feel about it.
Forum for anything else which doesn't fit in the above forums. Site feedback, random talk, whatever, are welcome.
