English only, please...

Anyone know of a way to do language removal from XP/2000 other than w/nlite?? I really don't desire to sift through all the .sif &.ini's, etc. in I386, guess I'm looking for a batch or cmd file someone's made that doesn't hack dll's to get the job done. Nuhi's been on this one for awhile now and done quite a nice job, however, enlitening Windows can lead to other issues. Just curious about other approaches as that's mostly all I use nLite for. Foriegn languages are a resource hog, removed, windows and it's registry are about 30% smaller and 30% faster.
...anyone?

Hi,

Is it not enough to edit the [RegionalSettings] in winnt.sif?

In I386 you can delete the LANG directory. For the keyboard search msfn.

1. Localized regional settings to Eng. still leave several hundred mb. of forieng language support.

2. I believe just removing the LANG dir. will cause setup errors.
Various files' listings call on the LANG. dir., hence I'd think you'd get something like "the file BLA-BLA-BLA.dum could not be copied"...
But hey, I could be wrong, tell ya later...
I don't mind keeping keyboad support.
tHanKs.
Any other ideas?

lang is removable, but if you want even more slim try searching for gosh secrete reducing size of source, that should get rid of about 120mb of slack.

Yah, I know a bit about Gosh and what he's done, I'll take another look.

I actually realized, after thinking back, I HAD previously removed the LANG dir. with no problems, about 100mb. off source. Must of been 'bout a year and a half ago. Don't know what I was thinking. I forgot I'd done that.
I'm most concerned with how my system runs once setup more than reduding source size, but I'll go have a peek at Gosh's site, might give nLite another whirl just for kicks.
My AMD 3500+ has no trouble with a full blown XP, however, I also own a P3 used as a file server and/or firewall. That's where the reduced source comes in handy.

~thanks for yur thoughts.
