We've reached the three year anniversary of this addon, though the first iteration was unreleased. Due to a hardware failure (no worries, not my hardware) I've transitioned my XPx64 machine to Win10 over the past couple weeks. I still plan on updating this addon and other releases for the next 20 months--at least until POSReady 2009 reaches EoS on 2019-04-09.

All my testing and INF data collection will continue to be done entirely in VMs. And the build process is still heavily scripted; it's just that the scripts run mostly in Win10 now with surprisingly little CMD editing. To create ISOs with RVMi in Win10 I was forced to place a copy of mkisofs.exe in SysWOW64 (I'm still using a 64-bit OS) and rename it rvmisofs.exe. nLite operation is unchanged as far as I can tell, though as a precaution I enabled .NET 3.5 under "Windows Features" before installing nLite just to be sure it would work properly.

I've upgraded to Win10/x64 since it came out.
have had no issues
my test PC for XP updating is a Dell 2400, and virtualbox on my main Win10 rig

happy anniversary on the POSready addon

Thanks, everyone. :)

Really didn't want to move away from XPx64; it's been the most stable OS I've had regardless of the machine running it. Serendipitously, I decided to start trying Win10 about a week before a friend fried one of his graphics cards. I was using one of his, you see, and he needed it back posthaste. It was only when I bought a replacement for myself that I realized that nVidia's 10-series cards aren't supported in XP (or Win10 LTSB as I found out the hard way, but that's beside the point).

(Seriously, though. Why would nVidia and Microsoft suppport an old 780 in Win10 LTSB, but prevent a new 1050 from working? Seems backward to me. Funnier still, the 780 is still a better card than a 1050 Ti. WTF.)

I just did an install using this pack, worked on it yesterday and last night. Very good install, very strong, nice and quick too. Low latency. I decided to break with uSP4 for the time being. Am pleasantly surprised with this install! Had to do it twice, since my first attempt included dotNet 2.0 and 4.0 by another person and something went wrong, so just made another ISO with out, K.I.S.S. approach (keep it simple stupid) always works best!

Thanks for your hard work here!!!

If I read 5eraph's post correctly, he's not doing anything with it. It wasn't his and he had to return it to his friend who needed it back.

Cheers and Regards

Another weird MS action...

KB4025398 was released containing msinfo32.exe ONLY and is included in this pack.

That file has disappeared from MS Catalog and is replaced by the same KB # dated Aug 28, 2017 but contains msinfo.dll ONLY.

Very interesting, SHO_GuN. I have the new update and it's ready for me to add.

Should I release an addon update now? Or should I wait for the next Patch Tuesday (two weeks from now)? I'm open to suggestions from all of you. The Microsoft Update site isn't offering the new update yet, but I'll add it now if there's interest.

What I'm wondering is whether the original KB should be scrapped beings it doesn't seem to exist any longer.

This new version is NOT showing up on MS Update, I just saw it on MS Catalog. I meant to do an install using a previous update pack and see if either are requested but got tied up. I will do that now and report back.

MU is not offering KB4025398 even without it being in the update pack.

I'd just let it go and see what patch Tuesday brings. Maybe a new KB with both the exe and dll?
