[Release] Hotfixes January 10th 2006 Addon v1.5

Post by Siginet » Wed Jan 04, 2006 10:40 pm

Siginets Post RVMUpdatePack 2.0.1 v1.5 (JAN.10.2006)
Hotfixes January 10th 2006

=============================================== ===============================================

This Hotfix AddonPack adds the following:
KB890830-v1.12 (JAN10th2005)
KB905915 (DEC13th2005)
KB910437 (DEC13th2005)
KB912919 (JAN5th2005) (Thanks XaBLe!)
KB908519 (JAN10th2005)
wusetup.cat (from WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86)

Download
Mirror
MD5 Hash: A4373294A75F4111C31AB119796BAB40
Changes:
v1.5 - Added wusetup.cat (from WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86) to svcpack directory and added the entry to sign it in svcpack.inf. This cat was never signed in the 2.0.1 updatepack... so I added it to this addon.
v1.4 - Added needed cat entries in svcpack.inf
v1.3 - Added January 10th Hotfixes, added all needed cat files, updated gdi32.dll, combined all hotfix inf files into one, cleaned up inf file... new inf file is called: POST201.inf.
v1.2 - Added KB912919 (Thanks to Xable).
v1.1 - Fixed KB890830-v1.11. It now is recognized by QFE. (Thanks to Xable)
=============================================== ===============================================

Ok I made an addon that is intended to be used in conjunction with Ryans 2.0.1 UpdatePack. It will add hotfixes to your disk that were released after RyanVM's UpdatePack v2.0.1 up till January 10th 2006. ;)

I released this so people have something to hold them over until Ryan releases his next update pack. :)

I have tested it myself and it seems to work just fine. I now have no updates at all in microsoft update on a freshly installed system! :D

Let me know if you have any issues.

Enjoy! And please give me some feedback!!! ;)

Hi,

I just checked with the MS knowledge base and KB980830-vxxx and KB890831 deal with completely seperate issues.

So either the KB890830 patch doesn't show in QFEcheck by default, it's not been installed or QFEcheck isn't picking it up. I suspect it's either the first or last explaination. If QFEcheck isn't picking it up (and it is decided that it should be) then it could be because the necessary information isn't included in the cab at this time.

I'll wait and see what Siginet says.

Cheers,

Andy

hmmm... all I needed to do to add KB980830-v1.11 was to add the new MRT.EXE to the i386 directory. Maybe there is some registry key that needs to be added as well to make QFE happy?

As for the question about making an addon that contains the private hotfixes... I'm not sure if I am up to it. I never liked using the private ones myself anyways.

Has anyone had a look at the addon inf reg entries for KB905915 and KB910437. Are they correct? Both are almost the same.
I ask this because I'm comparing it to Ryans reg entries for the preivous Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer (KB896688).

No - (apart from readability and staying with the standard)..........Yes.......Prettier, maybe - operative words being to "clean up the inf"

Do I need to disable SFC to use this pack since there are not cat files in the pack?

You don't have to disable SFC. I don't. But I was thinking about that yesterday too... I forgot to add the cat files. :( I will update the pack if I get time today. Sorry. But it shouldn't cause a problem as far as I know.

When I install Hotfixes_Siginet_DEC132005_Addons_v1.2 and RVMUpdatePack2.0.1, nlite reports the below warning as annoying popups.

How can I remove these messages from popping up?

Thanks,
Ross

I have a wierd problem with this one...

In VMware install, I have it set to show the "Welcome to Windows" (oobe) screen... and in that I opted to "Turn On Automatic Updates"...

after doing so and first logging in... Automatic Update pops up and tells me that it finished downloading some updates and "click here to install them"...

The updates turns out to be Xable's KB912919, I strangely click Install and it succeeds (!!) and asks me to reboot (!!!!), and then it reboots and works ok, and no updates show on M$ Update...

Can anyone confirm and fix it... ??

n7Epsilon, i left out a few keys because it worked without them, seems they might be needed for autoupdates now though

Here`s a test if you like.

I integrate this over the original CAB from this thread ? or test it alone ?
(and can you please include the CAT files for all the hotfixes, (or make it in another CAB) ??)

Dear Sigenet,
Thank you for providing your update addin.
The version of your gdi32.dll is the same of RyanVM's update pack. Both are 5.1.2600.2770. I downloaded the Hotfixes_Siginet_DEC132005_Addons_v1.2.cab and RVMUpdatePack2.0.1.cab files. I have to install the Security Update for Windows XP (KB912919) again. Its gdi32.dll is 5.1.2600.2818. I did not check the Xable's pack yet. When extracting the Hotfixes_Siginet_DEC132005_Addons_v1.2.cab, there are a file named KB912919.in_ that should use to install the correct KB912919 hotfix. Check your package again! Correct it! Thank you.

I will try to update the pack tonight if I get a chance. I am really busy today though. :(

Maybe Xable or someone else can take a crack at it and update it for us.

Updated ;)

The download link may not be working yet. It will work as soon as Ryan adds it to the site.

But the mirror does work... so you can get it from there for now.

KB890830 isn't a hotfix, so what exactly would QFECheck be looking for? And the addon is uploaded now.

Are being labelled as "...should be reinstalled"? I check my build using QFECheck before every release and so it wasn't showing this when only deploying Update Pack 2.0.1.

Please don't think that I'm bemoaning about your excellent work - I'm quite happy to wait for the next Update pack - I just wondered if I was the only one getting this? :?

Cheers,

Andy

PS I should say that WU reports no outstanding critical hotfixes.
RISult a utility to integrate RyanVM Updates and/or BTS DriverPacks into your RIS image.

Siginet, first, Happy New Year to everybody at MSFN!

Just a small request, could you verify the Hash is the same (I know you updated the pack, but maybe you forgot to update the hash), Thanx in advance.

Cheers!

Hey First post on this board. I just found this site from the nliteos site and I must say thank you to everyone who has worked on these updates.

My next question is going to sound n00bish... but if I already integrated your v1.3 I just integrate the 1.4 over top of it? or do I have to start with a fresh SP2 slipstreamed and integrated RVM2.0.1 update first?
