Koepi's Xvid, Divx, Matroska, FLAC, Monkey's Audio, Ogg Vorbis are all popular ones. The thing with codec packs though, is that there may be codecs that you (the user) dont need which could lead to broken codecs and filters. I tend to stay away from the codec packs out there like K-Lite, XP Codec Pack, etc just because there is so much stuff in them that I wont use. Instead I usually install the codecs as I need them. Xvid and Divx are pretty much must haves IMO.

I have found the following pretty useful for myself.

* DivX 5.2.1 [Decoder]
* XviD 1.1.0 [Encoder/Decoder]
* Windows Media 8 [version 8.0.0.371]
* Windows Media 9 VCM [version 9.0.1.369] [Encoder]
* Windows Media 10 [version 10.0.0.3646]
* Cyberlink DVD decoder [version 6.0.0.1006]
* Elecard MPEG 2 Demultiplexer [version 2.0.84.30429]
* MS MPEG-4 Video Decompressor [version 7.00.00.1958 Official]
* Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 DirectShow decoder [version 1.9.0.311]
* WMA DirectShow decoder [version 8.0.0.4487]
* VobSub [1.0.0.9]
* AC3 Filter 1.01a RC5
* Ogg Media DirectShow filter [version 0.9.9.6]
* Huffyuv lossless codec [version 2.1.1]
* LAME MP3 Codec [version 0.9.0 - 3.96 stable]

Probably FLAC and Monkey's Audio too for music fans....

swgreed also has made very good job - http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/i ... 614-0.html

We went through this in another thread the MP2/DVD decoders you all have listed aren't freeware they are payware therefore I don't believe that Siginet is willing to release a codec pack containing them, as that may be against Ryan's no Warez policy...

Some of those others you all list are okay but the Windows Media ones I don't know if he wants to do either since most people will opt to just use WMP10 and it's already got all those codecs in it.

If you're referring to where we already discussed this information, it was discussed here.
