[Release] ReadError's NetMeter Addon v1.1.3-071008

Post by Mrs Peel » Fri Feb 03, 2006 4:32 am

NEWSFLASH! After all these years Readerror has finally decided to update this awesome program. And here it is folks - released just in time for my latest windoze build! YAYYYY!

Although phamine has already released a bandwidth monitoring program Du Meter 3.07 over in the Switchless Installer Addon Packs section, I personally prefer the most excellent freeware program NetMeter which I have been using faithfully for 2 years now without a single hitch.

NetMeter v1.1.3
LINK: MrsP_NetMeter_Addon_v1.1.3-071008

Description: Windows network bandwidth monitoring program

Builddate: 2007/08/11

NetMeter
NetMeter is a small, customizable network bandwidth monitoring program for Windows 95/98/98SE/ME/NT4/2000/XP. NetMeter is and will always stay freeware.
The program has been tested extensively on Windows 2000 and XP, but it should work just as well on all other Win32 operating systems.

Uhmm...... no. NetLimiter is shareware and we don't do warez releases here.

Read the release notes.

Another new version out, just thought I'd post it.

v1.1.2 (stable) http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/i ... ;dl=item13

v1.1.1 came out yesterday and had a major flaw apparently, thus resulting in this fixed release.

Oh man I am a total jinx for this stuff I tell you!!!!! I've lost count of the number of programs that were updated by the programmer just one or two days after I released an updated addon pack for them grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Anyhoo, I've updated this again and deleted the old version link, but the new link will not be live for a few hours until Ryan wakes up and updates my files on his server. I have to go to bed early tonight and I can't wait up to post this release update, so please be patient till then and don't post any replies to say "waah waah waah the link is dead".

PLEASE NOTE: If any of you are updating this from a previous version then you will get the same surprise that I had tonight - which is that he has made some changes in v1.1.2 that screw up your existing program settings. I was pretty pissed to find out that I had to reconfigure all my custom fonts and colours and stuff again from scratch - I've been using the same config settings for about 4yrs so that was a bummer and a half ((((snort))))

Nite nite termites...........

That's cos I was updating the file. But would you even have bothered to reply if the file wasn't temporarily offline?

Ah OK. Well peeps will always have to expect links to be offline when I update my stuff, because I don't have direct access to the server they are being hosted on, and Ryan is busy as hell with his real life.... so y'all will just have to be patient for links to go live whenever I do a new batch of updates.

My only other option is to leave the link to the previous version live - but then peeps are just going to have to re-download the thing all over again and I do not wish to create this unnecessary extra load on Ryans server traffic.... so this is the way it will have to be for now.

by ReadError on August 11, 2007, 04:02:00 PM

Hi,

Here is a new bugfixing release of NetMeter:

Download NetMeter 1.1.3 (stable) here

ATTENTION!
If you upgrade from an earlier version of NetMeter to version 1.1.3, please reselect your network interface within the options menu!

Changelog:

- NICs are now being identified by Name and MAC address
- Fixed problem with multiple monitors when window position is negative
- Some other small bugfixes i forgot

Thanks to the user community for general input, bug reports and suggestions!

I will take a break from working on NetMeter now. No, not several years like before, but maybe a few months. Just so you know...

Regards,
ReadError
If anyone need it, please kindly request it to Mrs. Peel

Oh buggery bollox, I wish you had given me this headsup just 30 minutes sooner, cos I just missed Ryan on MSN DRAT

So now y'all will just have to wait till he gets home from work tonight before the new version link is live.

That bloody old Murphy strikes again (((((snort)))))

:D

PS: Glad to hear he is taking a break for a while cos I certainly NEED one after all these rebuilds

Thanks you Mrs.Peel for this add-on. It work great but in the first, and error show-up:

Image

After hitting the Abort button, NetMeter open normally and work as it should. This error shows up only on the very first run as it write the log file as soon as it open. This is not a big deal and it doesn't prevent NetMeter to work.

So the addon is working like a charm after the first run

Cheers

Zyx Maiden.

Well it is a very big deal to me, cos I thought I had successfully applied my little 0-bytes trick to this build, but it seems not grrrrrrrr. Talk about "tempting fate" by praising your own cleverness! This is my instant karmic payback for that folly LOL

Never to miss an opportunity for a rant tho.... I have to say I am really freaking annoyed that nobody has mentioned this sooner. This is one of my most popular downloads, so several hundreds of users must have noticed this bug by now and been too damned lazy to even bother letting me know.

The apathy and lack of support from the majority of addon users around here is freakin monumental SHEEEESH!

Anyhoo..... a very big thanks to you for being one of the "good guys" by giving me a headsup and taking the time to do me a screencap (a picture cerainly is worth a 1000 words)!

I'll get this sorted later this evening when I've finished my current work for the day.

Cheers m'dears!

PS: OMFG!!!!!!! I just had a chilling afterthought about this....

That *.tlg file is a very important log file for people who want to keep an ongoing record of their traffic over a period of months or years. My own current *.tlg file has at least 18mths of data in it which I do NOT want to loose, so this pack needs rebuilding with one of my "2nd-prompt to save user data uninstallers".

WHEWWWW!!!! I am SO GLAD to have this bought to my attention before I accidentally destroyed the thing on my own next setup!

Rebuilt uninstaller with prompt to keep traffic logs (or not). Now knowing my luck, ReadError will suddenly decide to do some more new development with this and I'll have to update it again in a few more days for a new version DUH
