kel, may i ask for your version of notepad++, did you make any tweaks on it, like optimizing the settings configuration or adding plugins? mind to share? I plan on making an unattended setup for this. ty

well right now I am uploading fixed versions.

As for tweaking or adding files the only files added was in the non-replacer is the shell extension .dll

I have never used notepad++ and wouldn't know what to add or change for tweaking it. :P

There's an addon screwing with my integration since I last updated... which again I've wasted hours trying to fix, (looking at the wrong problem)

Had thought it was sigi's new RC2 integrator / b3 related.. since I was getting an ADVANCED INF INSTALL error... but it just so happened to be so.

now now, may I ask for your professional judgement...
[Plug.main]
Explorer.dll
FTP_synchronizeA.dll
HexEditor.dll
NppExec.dll
NppExport.dll
NPPTextFX.ini
NPPTextFX.dll
NppTools.dll,npp++Tools.exe
QuickText.dll
SpellChecker.dll
NppTools.dll,npp++Tools.exe <-- is there something wrong here? or something that don't make sense to me?

Yeah I too had countless issues with this addon, spent maybe a day in total added up trying to figure out what's wrong or repeating installations.

Here's what I did to fix everything for good. I stopped using it, took out notepad.ex_, and used it to replace winxp source\i386 on the installation disk. I downloaded notepad++ installer and used runoncex to install it via notepad-setup.exe /S

I even have preconfigured customized settings for it, which i copy to %appdata%\notepad++.

I did the same thing for most other addons where possible.

I suggest you revert to 4.7.5 until 4.8.1 is done. 4.8 is known to BSOD.

Kels, I think that your extra section should be

Code: Select all

[Extras]
config.xml
langs.xml
session.xml
stylers.xml

I meant I missed one of the files that Notepad++ creates when you run it.

Yes, I use this with your uberpack12 because I like codes notepad replacement for just "quick" editing... and I prefer notepad++ when doing "heavier work" or working with multiple files open at one time... they both work wonderfully in conjunction with eachother, so anyone interested in using this with uberpack12 you needn't worry about any incompatabilities as long as your not using the "notepad replacement" version of THIS addon...

Hello,

I downloaded Kels_NotePad++_v4.8.5_addon_replacer.cab twice and I get 6BCD6DA35D01B0EC3135D4F3D9904605.

But it should be C8014EB58248927E8B9344814BCB8DE6. Am I the only one getting a wrong MD5Hash?

Thanks.

I get C8014EB58248927E8B9344814BCB8DE6 for my copy, downloaded on April 20th. So unless there was a silent update recently, your download must be corrupted.

Does the archive extract successfully?

man, for some of these packs it sure would be a welcome change for them to be able to be dynamic, in that when you add them to nlite/integrator before it actually slips the addon it could check for latest files and cab them with the proper cab name...etc... and build accordingly then slip... haha... I guess this is one reason why its good to have the same name for all version inf/cabs so that you don't have to actually start over from scratch everytime, but just have to copy over newest inf/cab to i386 and rebuild ISO... still a pain for those of us who manually edit most addons for custom dirs... but until someone builds program that can handle this operation we will be stuck doing it... hehe... I'm in no way complaining... just saying how nice it would be... lolz... don't mind me... carry on!

See "Holy Crap!!", above :P

Actually, I think it's 4.9.1 4.9.2 now... integrating is almost getting ridiculous anymore - by the time I put my newest install dvd together, at least one (usually several) of the apps is outdated! I've given up trying to have the "latest" apps on my install, and am trying to rely on automatic updates post-install (thanks to Don Ho for putting one in Notepad++).

The gears are grinding... there has to be a way to install the 'latest' versions without redoing the dvd... :shifty:

It would be so great if someone could come up with a tool for addon makers that would automatically allow them to update their posts on multiple forums. It is wonderful that all the different forums exist, with their different areas of emphasis and different "personalities". And it is incredibly helpful that the addon makers are willing to go to all the extra effort of posting their work on as many of the different forums as they do, with nothing but "Thanks" from us as their reward. We all need to remember that they"owe" us nothing, and that things sometimes fall through the cracks or life gets in the way. We need to be patient, be willing to do the work ourselves and help others, search the other forums, and then gently remind them after a suitable period of time if on those rare occasions that they might have forgotten an update. Always be kind, be appreciative of all help you receive, don't be annoying, put yourself in their shoes, and be grateful they're there to help you at all. And Thank them often, I know I don't do it enough.

This rant is not really meant to chastise any of the posts above directly, but I just felt that it needed to be said somewhere. We all need to remember it, myself included.

Thank you Kel for all you do.

Cheers and Regards.
