[Request] XP Pro Event Viewer addon

Post by pcguy » Mon Dec 18, 2006 2:20 pm

Would someone make an addon for XP Pro's event viewer properties that will "overwrite events as needed' for Applications, Security & System? Thanks.

Explain a little more... How is it done in the registry? Is there a particular Event Viewer setting you want by default?

I have no idea how it is done in the registry. It seems that the default setting is to overwrite events older that seven days. One can also specify a threshold, the default being 512 kb, to be over-written as needed. Somehow I would think it helpful, to myself & others, that the choice "Overwrite event as needed" be automatically chosen for Application, Security & System.

Thanks for your reply. The work that you & all of the other members exhibit, and the knowledge & skills are most impressive.

Here ya go pcguy, this was a easy one, it edits hivesys.inf directly so no worry about the settings not sticking

Its untested so can you do the testing and let me know if the settings stuck

I've tried to install this addon using Ryan's Integrator and also Nlite. Does not install and stick. The rest of my unattanded cd works fine.

I tried using [ExtraFileEdits] which edits those entries in HIVESYS.INF directly but I think when the dll gets registered it adds those settings so im gonna work on a RunOnceEx INF and see if it does the trick

Im sick with a major cold right now but ill still do it *Cough*
