Great job, Rick!!

Works great... just one thing to note, though: It didn't have all the updates for Firefox for some reason. But easy enough to update, since it's pretty much caught up except for that.

Thx
:wink:

Here's a little nitpick: Can you change the desktop icon description to Spyware Blaster instead of SpywareBlaster? With the way it is now you can't read the entire name without clicking on it once.

@RaGhul
Thats because the settings for FF are stored in your %UserProfile% not in the registry (Firefox profile is not even created until you run it first)

@tedhbrown
Then it wouldn't be uninstallable... Sorry NO (but its not difficult for you to do it yourself, just edit the [Desktop.Short] name)

Change:
Name =%SPYBLAST%,0x00000001
To
Name =Spyware Blaster,0x00000001

@Rick
okey-doke ;)

You plan on keeping this updated regularly? How often do they update, anyways?

As long as the FF profile exists (I copy mine across during FF install) you could get the new SBlaster entries and save it to a file e.g newhostperm.1, copy it to the temp dir during install and try the AutoIt code.

Code: Select all

#NoTrayIcon

Dim $FFDir = @AppDataDir & "\Mozilla\Firefox", $ProfileDir, $Hostperm

; Check for the existance of the ini file.
If FileExists($FFDir & "\profiles.ini") Then

	; Set the profiles dir name by reading it from the profiles.ini file.
	$ProfileDir = $FFDir & "" & StringReplace(IniRead($FFDir & "\profiles.ini", "Profile0", "Path", ""), "/", "")

	; Set the location of the hostperm file.
	$Hostperm = $ProfileDir & "\hostperm.1"

	; Move the original hostperm file to the temp dir for editing.
	FileMove($Hostperm, @TempDir, 1)

	; Merge the old and new perm files to create a new updated one.
	RunWait(@ComSpec & " /c copy " & '"' & @TempDir & "\*perm.1" & '"' & " " & '"' & $Hostperm & '"', "", @SW_HIDE)

	; Delete the temp files.
	FileDelete(@TempDir & "\*perm.1")

	; Add the registry entry so SpywareBlaster knows FF protection is enabled.
	RegWrite("HKLM\SOFTWARE\SpywareBlaster\Settings", "MozProt", "REG_BINARY", "FFFF")

EndIf

Exit

Hehehe, um, err, thx benners...

But that's sounds like a nutty little ordeal for me to have to go through, especially since I don't know AutoIt, nor installing reg entries thru XP install. I mean, it looks like some fun stuff to play with when I get bored, but I really got too much goin' on right now.

Let's not forget that the Integrator and nlite are designed to save time.

I have no problem just updating and enabling FF protection after install.

I appreciate the info, though. ;)

@RaGhul
:lol: No Probs, its just something similar to what I use with my SB inno installer, so its no ordeal as the installer runs the compiled script.
