You use the slipstreamer, and specify the wmp11 installer and (yes, ALL) the hotfixes in the requirements section + KB939683 (site is not yet updated until boooggy returns) and integrate in one go over your updated source.

As I said before (and I will not repeat this again), YES, I take care of all possible scenarioes:

eg: XP SP2 non-updated + WMP11Slip
eg: XP SP2 + RyanVM's Update Pack + WMP11Slip
eg: XP SP2 + RyanVM's + code65536 + WMP11Slip
eg: XP SP2 + Xable's + WMP11Slip
eg: 2k3 SP2 + Boooggy's Update Pack + WMP11Slip
eg: 2k3 SP1 + Wmp11Slip

As long as the WMP11Slip doesn't block you when you press Integrate, it should work...

(even XP SP3 pre-beta + Wmp11slip works but not officially supported or recommended)

any possible combination WILL work (as long as wmp9 has not been removed or modified with nLite before). I took a very long time while coding this make sure it works with any kind of source within the support Windows Types (which are XP SP2, W2K3, 32-bit, 64-bit not yet supported).

If anything goes wrong with wmp11slip with any type of source, please report here.

So just use the slipstreamer after applying your update packs and addons, either via nLite or standalone or whatever on any kind of XP SP2 or 2k3 source and YES, it will work...

(phew)...

Sorry n7Epsilon one last question to add to this (and I'll never ask again, promise).

Would you consider it incorrect to integrate in this order:

XP SP2 + WMP11Slip + RyanVM's + code65536

I've been doing it this way and I haven't encountered any issues but there's always a chance I've missed something!

Personally I do it last but RyanVM's or code's packs do not modify wmp files so it will not cause any problems.

i keep getting this may be because i have installed above the previous without uninstall first ??..

Code: Select all

WMP11Slipstreamer v0.91

System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
   at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
   at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError()
   at System.IO.File.Move(String sourceFileName, String destFileName)
   at WMP11Slipstreamer.Backend.ApplyFixes()
   at WMP11Slipstreamer.MainGUI.workerMethod(Object addonSettings)
previous worked fine ,and i know this error wont go till you make a new compiled version :lol:
and i dont want to use the previous if i can find one at all.

i think the real cause is when i left the previous unintentionally open wile installing the new version :P

as i said it will from now on ..always complain about something ,..once you get any error of this kind
it almost impossible getting rid of it till you get a new compiled version
i only know a little about side effects using NET depended apps

here is what i get now: for xp corp.

Code: Select all

WMP11Slipstreamer v0.91

System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
   at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)

   at System.IO.File.Move(String sourceFileName, String destFileName)
   at WMP11Slipstreamer.Backend.ApplyFixes()
   at WMP11Slipstreamer.MainGUI.workerMethod(Object addonSettings)

Deleting "D:\xpsp2\xppo\i386\wmp11temp"...  FAILED!

An exception occurred while attempting to delete the temporary folder to revert the changes done to the source.

this is some kind of generic fault related to net framework
as i said i was running the previous and it was working with out any problems .etc

From Start\Start Menu\Programs\WMP11 Slipstreamer\WMP11 Slipstreamer.lnk

Code: Select all

using C:\Program Files\WMP11 Slipstreamer\wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe

using D:\xpsp2\xppo\

no HOtfixes

some : icon

<integrate>
you can try reproduce this for youreself by keeping Slipstreamer.exe before or after it has run .. -> open
* install from install-shield a setuplike you would have install it for the first time ,then when it completes ask it to run

that's where i got the first error

you have to understand that i know im complaining about nothing ..
danged framework ,so im still not complaining only waiting for the next build ;)

usually i'd use tweak'd addon and thats it :)

boooggy I get the following error with the latest version

What do to get this error is try and run this after I install of my hot fixes and add ons. I even rebooted the box I do all of my Unattended stuff on and still got the error. I haven't tried any of the previous versions. I am going to try it on a different machine just for good measure and I will report back. I am getting the following error:

WMP11Slipstreamer v0.93

System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError()
at System.IO.File.Move(String sourceFileName, String destFileName)
at WMP11Slipstreamer.Backend.ApplyFixes()
at WMP11Slipstreamer.MainGUI.workerMethod(Object addonSettings)

Deleting "E:\VRMPFPP_EN\i386\wmp11temp"... Done!

The source being modified has not been damaged.
All changes have been successfully reverted.

[edit]: I get the exact same error on a different machine

Let me know if you need any additional info.

Now that you mention it, I did something that I normally don't. Through nLite I patched uxtheme.dll. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it but I am going to try it without doing any tweaks of that nature and see if it fixes the problem. Thanks for the help. I will report back.

Are you running WMP11Slipstreamer as part of a nLite session ? Does the same error occur if don't patch UxTheme.dll with nLite ?

I ran it both in and out of a nLite session. I am testing it now to see if patching the uxtheme.dll through nLite is the problem or not... 8)

[edit]
Looks like that was the issue. For some reason it doesn't like it when you patch the uxtheme.dll through nLite.

I had this problem :

Code: Select all

WMP11Slipstreamer v0.93

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: C:\uAXP\Edited\Copy of UpdtPackExtra\i386\wmp11temp\Fixes\WM11\wmp.dll

   at WMP11Slipstreamer.Backend.ApplyFixes()
   at WMP11Slipstreamer.MainGUI.workerMethod(Object addonSettings)

Deleting "C:\uAXP\Edited\Copy of UpdtPackExtra\i386\wmp11temp"...  Done!

The source being modified has not been damaged.
All changes have been successfully reverted.
Can somebody help me.

Are those update listed at http://thehotfixshare.net/board/index.php?showtopic=84 can be apply with slipstreamer?

List the source type (XP ? 2k3 ? SP2 ?), is it nlited ? does wmp.dl_ exist in that source's i386 folder ? List all the hotfixes you are using.

Please provide more information.

Hi n7Epsilon,

I use all hotfixes listed at this site http://thehotfixshare.net/board/index.php?showtopic=84

I also intergrate my XP with RyanVM UpdatePack and R13 before I slipstreamed WMP.

Yes there is wmp.dl_ in the source file.

I just slipstreamed my XP with hotfixes listed in this site http://web.clicknet.ro/boooggy/ succesfully. Why does this happenned?

That's interesting... I've been doing:
XP SP2 + WMP11Slip + RyanVM's + code65536 + IE7 + WSH

I have not had any issues with this order yet. After reading n7Epsilon's post I'm wondering, is that bad ordering? Maybe I should be doing :XP SP2 + RyanVM's + code65536 + IE7 + WSH + WMP11Slip?

order should not matter...as long as wmp doesnt have anything to do with the rest.

and that err yadzil had is cause i think by microsoft. in last wmp.dll hotfix they change the hotfix structure. on the site all fixes are up2date. on xables share he also keeps the old ones that are obsolete. so the old wmp.dll hotfixes might cause this err......we are investigating and will see the results. until then please use the hotfixes that are listed on wmp 11 slipstreamer site.

Okay boooggy this is strange, i wanted to make a new cd from scratch so what i did, i took my xp gold english source named it xpcd, started wmp11 slipstreamer up choosed tweaked without wga, next found the path to xpcd next, took all 10 updates for wmp11, next use custom icon vista. next "do not add sec bla bla" selected aswell. Finally integrate......

The following source type is not supported:

Please read the site carefully. WMP11 is only supported on XP Professional SP2 and higher. Even MS original WMP11 installer will refuse to install on gold XP.

"Order doesn't matter" assumes that you are starting with SP2 source.

version 0.94 out

changelog
- Fixed a potential bug that can lead to an error locating the file in hotfixes that have new files in nested subfolders
- Fixed a bug that lead to old catalogs being mistakenly added if a hotfix is superceded by another that has the updated file in a subfolder inside the hotfix archive

Does this latest version fix my problem too?

At your site there are 5 hotfixes not listed (kb931756, kb935957, KB936782, kb938232, KB936782), why?

Thnx for the great work, really like your work on this

btw I have three feature requests

1. Can the Media Player's Icon on Desktop be removed?
2. Can the Classic Menus be disabled by default?
3. Now this one is for the integrator Program......
Can we have a choice of which tweaks to be included when we select the Tweaked option?

Thnx in Advance....
Cheers

Right-click on your i386 folder, remove checkmark from "Read Only" and click on "Ok" and Apply to all subfolders and files...

Also make sure you have write permission in the folder containing the Windows source you are modifiyng.

@boooggy: how can I remove desktop icon from desktop if I want to use tweaked version (w/o WGA) and not vanilla version which you have already suggested, and to be integrated via slipstreamer???
is there any way? thx
after u use slipstreamer go to the os source and look for wmp.in_
then unpack it and after u open it search for "DesktopShortcut". u will see that after this is a "yes"
u have to change this to "no''
you could also remove quick launch icon; one line lower

unpack with CMD...example:

Code: Select all

expand x:\winxp_source\i386\wmp.in_ x:\winxp_source\i386\wmp.ini
after you finish editing process, compress it again using this switch in CMD

Code: Select all

makecab x:\winxp_source\i386\wmp.ini x:\winxp_source\i386\wmp.in_

Unfortunately, the error occurred during the critical process of overwriting files in the "i386" folder. This source can no longer be used reliably, please use a fresh new source for subsequent windows setup installations and modifications.

Temporary folder: "F:\XPUA\i386\wmp11temp"
