[Release] fccHandler's VirtualDub-MPEG2 v1.6.19.24586-070928

Post by Mrs Peel » Thu Jun 21, 2007 1:40 pm

Based on VirtualDub 1.6.15 by Avery Lee, this modded version by fccHandler handles all sorts of files that the standard Virtual Dub does not. Very very useful for those times when VirtualDubMod can't handle things for you.

You will of course need to have the appropriate XviD, DivX and other codecs installed on your PC to use this.

Thanks Mrs Peel
Would think about doing one for regular virtualdub 1.6.18 Build 24473 ?

Sorry but I don't need to think about that to say "no".

Firstly I am trying to stick to my policy of only releasing addons for software that I use personally and I never use the vanilla VDub - only VDubMod (and occasionally Nandub or fcchandlers modded versions). I also never use the standard XviD codecs (only Koepis builds) and fcchandlers alt AC-3 decoder packs. Just call me a fussy old bitch eh ;)

And secondly, I tend to disappear for months at a time when real life interrupts my cyber life, so it would not be fair of me to release any new addons for software that is updated very frequently by the developers and risk pissing people off by not being around to maintain it.

I do have a couple more wee ripping utilities that I'll be releasing soon tho - just not ones that are still under regular development anymore hehehe

Cheers

this great mod of VDub has been updated, now based on latest official stable (1.6.19), and added "Browse for audio" command (let choose input audio file)

Is this your way of telling me that you are using the addon and would like me to update it for you?

not especially, because I don't use this addon (I use my own rar-sfx installers)

I just inform about the new release, because it's an interesting update, and people that use the addon should benefit from it

edit: ah, I love your listing page's design :D colors well chosen, original positioning... simple but very efficient

OMG! A genuine good Samaritan who wasn't angling for personal gain? Well that put me in such a refreshingly cheerful mood it inspired me to update the thing in the wee hours of the morning (when I should be long since heading off to bed)

Thanks for the headsup. I love it when the developers of these trusty old apps suddenly pop up to update their stuff after yonks of inactivity. And just in time for my own OS build too hehe

Cheers m'dears

;)

PS: LOL I just whacked up that page and graphics in a few hours the other night. It's a temporary thing until I have time to install a proper CMS front-end for the main domain.... but gawd knows how long that will be at my current (frantically busy) workload :(

I'm glad you've added these video utils to your addon pack collection. I really like having these available on my machines, though it is relatively rare to need them anymore, for me at least. I can't wait to check this one out, I'm curious about the added features of this one too, as I've only used the plain one, that I recall at least.

Thanks again...

I haven't used the plain Vdub for years- only this one (which handles fulll processing of audio streams alongside fccHandlers AC3 codec) or VdubMod for recoding non-VBR audio avis.

I can't see a day any time in the future when I will not need this, especially with the advent of dual-layer DVD's, cos I like to keep a backup copy of all my movies on hard drive - being that I am a lazy cow who hates to have to leave her chair to load original DVD disks (unless I am wanting to watch the DVD extras hehehe)

I have a modded Xbox (with only Xbox Media Center installed, no games, and hooked up to my surround sound speakers) with a monster hard drive inside (and also networked to my server PC which also has multimedia files stored).... so I do 700Mb XviD rips of everything (trimming out the credits and stuff to get highest bitrate possible) and 320kbps mp3 rips of all my music CDs - and I store them all on my Xbox for quick easy access.

Being that I am a pretty shit-hot at doing top quality 2-pass rips (the old manual way) and that the XBMC does such a terrific job of rendering them (way better viewing quality than avi's on my Philips DVP642 desktop player) it's a pretty sweet system for me in terms of a multi-media centre system hehehe.

I guess it all depends on your own personal needs and available hardware resources tho, and the price of dual-layer DVDs or monster-sized hard drives in the country that you live - and they ain't cheap here (yet) that's for sure :(

Glad to hear there are peeps here who are enjoying these good old fashioned ripping tools as much as I do.

Cheers for the feedback ;)

Thanks for the addon Mrs P., have played about with Vdubmod a few times so this definately will come in useful.
Again many thanks for the hardwork you put into these addons.
