I have a question, how to do add this silenty? Unrar the cab give me 3 folders, unrar one of them give me a unlocker.cab, unrar it again give me a .exe, running that will be enough, right? No need to register UnlocCOM.dll and to do whatever with UnlDrver.sys?

This is not a silent installer, instructions for getting your addon are in the first post.

Download and run the exe to build the unlocker setup you want.
I see... but i have already read at MSFN it is too simple to use this silent. Just use 2 regkeys (to kill autoupdate and disable assistant) and the switch /S and you are gone....

What`s your point?

If you want an addon use this, if you want a silent installer make your own.

Your welcome just_laze.

What you need to do is overwrite Unlocker.cab and Unlocker.in_ on your cd with the one`s in the light addon. Create the light addon and extract those 2 files.. i`d use winrar.

That's ok Xable, glad i could be of use :-).

Would it be possible to modify the key you've provided to prevent the message showing ever again? Whether or not the version installed corresponds with the latest version available?

Perhaps artificially raise the version number to 1.95 for all bar display?

Ye you can disable update checking alltogether by deleting the OnlineVersion string.. this reg file will do it :)

Fantastic!

I don't know if i speak for everyone, but how much add functionality do updates offer to a program like unlocker, especially for those of us using the 'light' version. Perhaps it would be a good idea (if only for the light version) to remove the update checking entirely in your add-on itself?

Just a suggestion.

Thanks - laze.

I can`t change it to suit everyone`s needs.. so unless the majority want the update check turned off, it stays as it is.

Um, as soon as I run this it simply creates the lite version on my desktop.

I see it display 4 options for about half a second before option 1 is automatically chosen. :( Running Windows XP SP2

Even worse, is if I try in Virtual PC 2007:

Image

Clicking on close or ignore results as the same on my real system, it simply creates the lite version on the desktop.

efrain, Thanks.

war59312, Works perfect here and it`s been out for a long time, knowone else reported this.

Your system is to blame. Try it on a clean system, also make sure your not editing the default dos dir.

@war59312: Have you by any chance removed 16-bit program support with nLite ? This will cause this problem directly.

Otherwise follow the steps in this Microsoft article to restore the missing 16-bit files and fix the issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324767

It could be possible that the problem is triggered by the use of the 16-bit CHOICE.COM file used for allowing you to choose from a list of items.

When windows encounters an error running an executable it usually returns errorlevel 1 which chooses option number 1 automatically.

Xable, not needed.. See below...

n7Epsilon, no I do not use nLite at all, so no I did not.

So the files are not missing. I checked anyways...

Um, but believe it or not installing WindowsXP-KB940322-x86-ENU.exe fixed the problem. Why or how, I have no idea...

But now I have no problem with this application, works just fine... very strange..

Hope Xable doesn't mind if I post version 1.8.7:
http://rapidshare.com/files/112401019/x ... n.cab.html
In this addon unclocker assistant doesn't show icon on tray by default. If you want show the icon, you either need edit the addon yourself, or start assistant from start menu manually.
Tested with nlite.

P.S.
Xable, why did you rename files in unlocker.cab? I found its not practical renaming files on each update...the addon above has original filenames with corrected unlocker.inf
Hope it doesn't break any rules or such...

P.P.S.
Btw, have anyone experienced this weird "bug":
after installing xp with unlocker addon (integrated via nlite or rvm integrator) then go to start -> all programs -> right click on "Windows update" (or "Microsoft update") -> Pin to Start Menu
it will open unlocker instead of add windows update to main start menu.
Second attempt pins windows update to start menu as supposed to...
Weird.
