i tried installing this manually (uncompressing the inf and exe, right-click the inf and choose "uninstall"), but it didnt work. something wrong with the inf?

There is nothing wrong with it, runningfool87. INFs without [DefaultInstall] sections will not install that way.

Of course, you can easily rename the section that Optional Components points to to DefaultInstall, although that's hardly guaranteed to work right.
