Only problem is when you try to install other .net addons , then it goes wrong.

Ok r there any updates for MCE after this ?

Can u list which updates and addon packs of MCE are needed to complete entire integration?

Give links where ever possible plz..
I gave you my EXACT process from start to finish... what more do you need to know? We have told how, what updates are necessary... I'm kind of lost at what you are waiting for now???

01. Update source to SP3
2a. nLite to add addons, remove components, unattended settings...etc
2b. slipstream addons in this order: Redxii's Post SP3 update --> MCE Addon --> KB900325 --> KB925766 --> WMP11 --> All other addons --> IE7
03. Slipstream Driverpacks (skip this ifyou don't use them)
04. Build ISO for testing in VMware/VPC
05. Burn if everything goes smooth...

Am I missing something? What else do you need/want (as far as this topic is concerned)?
Trying again with all this. Will report on success or failure...

When i slip the addon at the same time with the update pack , it messes up.
So i slip everything, and then slip again with the MCE addon.

with the KB900325 and KB925766. Do we just add them to the integrator? or do we extract files from the?

I just downloaded those 2 from MS.

Thanks

I highly recommend using nLite for this process as you can do all steps in one shot and set the order of addons to be slipstreamed... otherwise you will have to run integrator multiple times to get the same result...

to clarify on KB900325 if you have the file which you downloaded from MS, that one needs to be extracted and you are using ONLY the KB900325 which is INSIDE that file you first downloaded from MS. I honestly don't remember if I had to do the same for the other one, but I don't think so, I believe that one is just a straight KB not a "multi-pack" KB...

also, it was mentioned earlier in this thread that you couldn't do boooggy's wmp slipstreamer and I have found that to be false... but I slip wmp11 very last right before building my bootable ISO file... not sure if that makes a difference or not... but I just thought I would clarify.

Has Anyone tried this addon with Onepiece's EN-US Windows XP Post-SP3 All-in-One Update Pack? Would seem to simplify things. And if only someone could come up with an addon that combined the two, a DotNet AIO, and the Tablet info, then we would truly have an addon that could create an Ultimate XP. Wonder if Onepiece has tried it ... yet!

Cheers and Regards.

I can now tell you this works with onepiece's AIO post SP3 update pack... beautifully!!!

I put the AIO update in the same spot as I would normally put IE7 addon (towards the end of the slipstream, only WGAN, OGA and my SVCPACK addons are after it...

will do further testing in the A.M.

Great! After you test, would you mind giving as detailed a description of your successful process as possible, as you have so generously done in the past?

MrNxDmX, any progress on TabletPC files/addon as you originally discussed?

Cheers and Regards.

OK method (Some will call the integration part "redundant" but I haven't had a single issue and I just like to be "sure")

1. Fresh Source SP0
2. Integrate SP2 >> SP3 (see batch script below)
3. nLite to add ALL addons, remove components, unattended, tweaks..etc (see nLite session ini below to see all addons I used along side this addon and for order of integration)
4. Manually add a couple entries to WINNT.SIF (custom theme, display option)
5. Build ISO
6. Test in vmWare
7. If vmWare test is good then Integrate Driverpacks from Driverpacks.net
8. Build / Burn ISO
9. Live install on a freshly zero'd and formatted drive.

only problem so far is the "Advanced INF Install" that is related to OnePiece's AIO Post SP3 Update addon... but that isn't serious issue and will be fixed with next release I'm sure...

seems ure integrating sp2, then sp3, just go sp3 only, and in ure lastsession.ini i see
extra_drivers\evol\EVOLUSB.INF,0
extra_drivers\wlan\net111v2.inf,0

so maybe these drivers are the culprit of the usb and network issues ,
also why are u integrating ure service pack liek you do?ure using nlite so might as well go with it all the way. n e ways if it works for you then go for it.and i see by ure batch that u seem to slip sp3 everytime u do a new build, why dont u save a copy of ure windisc folder once its sliped?so next time u just recopy the good build to a working dir and do ure test builds.

edit;i just noticed,if you integrate drivers in nlite,i hope ure not integrating driverpacks that also may contain those drivers.
again in ure batch u seem to be deleting alot of files..not just .cat but i see dll's and ocx..etc,try not deleting any files and see if the outcome is better.

so id go: xp gold>slip sp3 normally ,dont delete anything, save that build(so u dont have to re slip all the time) then integrate all ure addons then drivers and build iso.
XP theme source patcher
patches/overwrites ure default xp visual resources

Hi folks,

I love this addon.

But i have some questions and problems:

1st:

I use a XPSP2 cd as base
then i integrate SP3
after that i use nLite to integrate this MCE Addon b2
i burn the ISO and install the Win XP to another TestPC

after installation has finished i use the Microsoft Update to check available Updates and now i'm a bit lost: there are no Media Center updates available shouldnt it at least offer me KB900325 ? But there are only 9 priority (no MCE) and 2 optional (.net2.0 and another non MCE).

I used this simple SP3 and MCE Addon tactic to verify that the missing updates are not caused by other addons or Disc modifications.
That confuses me a bit.

Nevertheless with integrating KB900325 and KB925766 myself i achieve an updated MCE, but i'm just a bit worried about further MCE Addons that i would miss in the MS Updater cause it dont show them to me.

and my 2nd and more important task:

Did anyone of u succeeded in stripping this MCE Addon to an Media Center only without the PLUS and maybe without the SONIC Components.

I read that BenjamminzIS tryed it, have u got it to work?
I'm highly interested in a step by step discription or a list what exactly i have to remove.
I'd like to have a clean install without that Dancer and other crap i dont need and furthermore it saves me even more discspace.

Thanks.

I tried... but did not get anywhere with it... everything I tried led to errors during the MCE part of the setup... I have since given up, and will wait till someone who knows more about what they are doing to give it a shot... 'cause it's way more complicated than just deleting the plus.cab and sonic.cab's. Trust me that's not what I tried to do, I went much deeper, but I just don't know enough about how those particular items are integrated, what all infs need to be edited (I know there are a few)...etc...

@bober... I do keep a fresh source that is already built, I just was giving full process from SP0>>SP3+MCE+Addons...etc... and I will try doing what you said... as far as the extra drivers...

I will eliminate the wlan driver as I believe that one actually is included in the driverpacks... I will double check though... but the evolusb is for a MIDI keyboard and I know it's not included in anything... but I think I will deintegrate it anyways... as windows never installs that driver as default, and I haven't figured out how to get it to... so I have to manually "update" the driver on every fresh install I do anyways.

UtCollector wrote:Hi, You're right! :D I indeed meen the remove of the PLUS components. Alsow the Sonic part may be left out if its my call. (People can use ricks MCE addon if the wont the extra's)

Its would just the basic MCE for me :D
DJB wrote:@MrNxDmX

Shoot me a PM with your email address and I can send you a screenshot and log file.

Also I think what UtCollector means is to remove the PLUS components, so its basically just the normal Media Center. Personally I'd remove the SONIC.CAB also coz I don't need it, I have Nero if I want to burn stuff.

BTW Update: Tried with Retail version of XP SP2 and this is the logs I can provide.
The removal of the PLUS & SONIC Components were discussed on the 1st page too and Utcollector mentioned a Addon called "ricks MCE addon" to get a pure MCE intall without the Crap which noone needs.
But i'm searching now for 2 hours but still have no clue where to find this addon. Any ideas?

Thanks BenjamminzIS for ur answer sad to hear that u had no success.
MrNxDmX wrote:PM sent DJB. I'll take care of your request UtCollector.
I have plans like this:
Make the cab links as seperate uploads,
Make seperate installers for each cab files, then user can choose which one to install,
make cab files updated...
Will take time, though :(
Sad that MrNxDmX dont support this Addon anymore (no posts in this thread in the last 3 months) or hes just very short on time.
The above mentioned changes i'd really like to see.

greetings

rick's MCE addon can be found @ wincert.net forums... in the nLite, RVMI, WPI addons section...

Well, I finally was able to test this install on a couple of PC's with this add-on. I used the steps as indicated by benjamminzIS and things worked out fine in one of the PC's. However, on one that has a Hauppauge tuner, I got an error that looking up in MS, said I had to reinstall SP3. Did that and got it working.

However, as has been indicted, no updates appear on MW Update for MCE...

UG, not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I've been reading, testing, retesting, and re-reading the steps.
I'm encountering issues during media center installation - I'm getting an error saying there's an error with registration of Media Center components.

Per the "MedCtrOC.log" file, I have a series of failures relating to files in:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705\

Looking at this folder, there are only 4 files in it. The system seems to try to unload "existing native assemblies", and that's fine if they're not there (i'm guessing). When it tries to add existing DLL's to the GAC, it's failing - caspol.exe doesn't exist.

Additionally:
svcpack.inf isn't running properly. Looks like the post installers aren't installing.

One thing of note is that the source I'm working off of is a SP1, not SP0... Would that have anything to do with the issues?

Process thus far:
Copy components folder
Use benjamminzIS's upgrade path (SP1 -> SP2 -> SP3)
Nlite addons:
DirectX_9.0c_End-User_Runtime_AddOn_0.4.0_-_redxii
5er_KB893056_SP3_Addon
NR_MCE_Installer_Addon_b2
Kels_Bootvis_CPL_addon_v1.3.37.0
Kels_ClearType_addon_v1.1
Kels_TweakUI_Addon_v2.10.0.0
Ricks_LunaRoyale_AddOn_v3.2
Rubabs_VistaVG_Black_ThemeAddOn
Rubabs_VistaVG_BlueRefresh_ThemeAddOn
OnePiece_Windows_XP_Post-SP3_UpdatePack_v1.3.4_ENU
OnePiece_Repair_IE_Cosmetic_Problems_AddOn
Kels_Runtimes_addon_v4.3

SVCPACK.INF:
[SetupHotfixesToRun]
0_DNET.exe
kb900325.exe /q /n /z /o
kb925766.exe /q /n /z /o
NR_IT.exe

the 0_DNET.exe is just a renamed 0_DOTNET_AIO file (Dotnet 1.1, 2, 3, 3.5 All In One)

Nlite to integrate, build ISO, fail. No driverpacks yet - failing so far.

Freezen, sorry for late reply. Can you try with this:
SVCPACK.INF:
[SetupHotfixesToRun]
0_DNET.exe
kb900325.exe /q /n /z /o
kb925766.exe /q /n /z /o
NR_IT.exe
NR_IT.exe is what makes mce installed. And you are trying to install MCE Updates (KB900325.exe) before mce installation

@ All: Sorry for not working on this addon. I'll try to make an updated one soon.
Cheers

Hmm, as far as i can see yumeyao, sp3 dont update mce anymore. I have read somewhere about this situation, let me check again. Will post here.

Also, sp3 mce file versions are lower than sp2 ones. I dont need to update files from there

Edit: Two screen shots from a sp3 test system. Only the addon posted on first page (beta2) was used. No update packs. Windows Media player is version 9, and internet explorer is version 6.

I dont know if MU shows updates for mce, as there are lots on MU. Will integrate an update pack now, and test again.
I want to know errors if exists, or updates available, in order to add them in addons.
I got a tv card from a friend but it didnt work on my computer. So, i cant test if tv cards runs with this mce or not. Your reports are valuable for me.
Thanks for your help & patience.
Cheers :)

i said that since when i was help my brother making his Tablet PC living, i saw there were a lot of files updated by sp3, so i just guess MCE need updating too because SP3.exe have a branch of component\MCE folder.
then it will be easier for a sp3 pack's out!

@ All: As i understand from some posts over internet, media center edition 2005 is not supported by windows xp sp3. I dont see required updates on mu for mce 2005. I'll work with a sp2 machine to update this addon.

Edit:TweakUI powertoy runs fine on xp sp3 with my addon.

I'm sorry, I'm a little confused by this post... MCE isn't supported by sp3? or you just aren't seeing any updates for MCE 2005 when it is integrated onto a sp3 disc? I'm sorry for not understanding...

P.S. I have used this update pack in conjunction with a sp3 source + post sp3 updates and the only issue I have run into is every once in a while Deferred Procedure Calls sometimes locks up 40-50% of my CPU time and I have to restart... I don't think it is related to this pack and haven't been able to pinpoint it 100% as I don't get any errors in the event log.

i suppose he means if you integrate mce onto a sp3 source, windows update won't show certain items for mce(i.e. roll-up update).

MCE COA key

Post by SibTiger » Fri Oct 17, 2008 3:27 pm

OP says: "You dont have to have a valid MCE serial..." My question is... what if I do have a valid MCE serial? Can I use this update pack with an XP Pro install source and still use my OEM MCE COA CD-key to activate? Or do I have to use an XP Pro serial?

Sorry guys, i cant work on this addon anymore. Discontinued as Ricktendo64 posted his own excellent media center addon: http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4652

And ENU_user, i cant know it without trying, and i dont have a vmware system running here. But here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/medi ... emote.mspx
it says media center version 2005, so it should work with. But the fix you've provided is not included in my addon. And it doesnt seem to be included in ricks addon too. I'll post an info for rick, to include that fix.

Requesting one mod to lock this topic, as i wont support it anymore.

My apologies to all...
