Don't ask for a different configuration of Onepiece's XP AIO Update Pack: use one of the existing vanilla XP UpdatePack with your preferred addons instead

Hi Onepiece and nonno,

Thanks this addon; just wondering where I can download the last update: KB970159 for making a localised version?

Fixed, thanks. Now everything will be switched on Microsoft's Skydrive, so we will know for certain if addons/updatepacks are piracy or not.

Little question there is a Registry entry in the wmdm.inf file that adds a Registry key to the RunOnceEX that then adds the Registry key to RunOnce. Would it not be better to directly add it to RunOnce?

Code: Select all

;
; Install Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework
;
HKLM, "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\Setup", "WUDF", , "%11%\reg.exe ADD ""HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunonceEx\INSTAL WUDF"" /v WUDF_INSTAL_0 /t reg_sz /d ""rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %17%\wmdm.inf"" /f"

Code: Select all

;
; Install Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework
;
HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunonceEx\INSTAL WUDF","WUDF_INSTAL_0",0x00020000,"rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %%SystemRoot%%\inf\wmdm.inf"

Nonno Fabio is on vacation, so I try to answer

that even if it works 100% is not the original way to do that work, original mode is using the directive AddService

Code: Select all

AddService   = ServiceName
look at example of Windows Desktop Search in OPMWXPUP.inf

Code: Select all

[WDSearch]
	ect ect ect
	ect ect ect
	AddService   = WSearch,%NOCLOBBER_SERVICE%,WSearch_Service
but a user (I do not remember who but the post will be here in RyanVM community) years and years ago said that does not work well (although according to me personally there was all Ok) so we chose to install the service after the installation of the windows, to remove any doubt ect ect

Ciao.

I tested it and saw that the RunOnce Registry key will execute the file wmdm.inf after the Windows XP installation but with the RunOnceEX Registry key it will need a manual computer reboot after the Windows XP installation for the file to be execute. :?

To runs it ("rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %%SystemRoot%%\inf\wmdm.inf") not in T13 (during the installation of windows), but after the installation of windows (in the first boot after the installation)

Ciao.

The funny thing is that the RunOnce Registry key below will install it after the Windows XP installation, so the RunOnceEX Registry key is not needed.

Code: Select all

;
; Install Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework
;
HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunonceEx\INSTAL WUDF","WUDF_INSTAL_0",0x00020000,"rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %%SystemRoot%%\inf\wmdm.inf"

yeah yeah right, its fun, I see that even after years and years you have not lost the old vice :(

Please what you said is not true is not correct, forget it not worth it really

useless to talk because I see that you do not understand much about it, however for the record RunOnce key is executed multiple times during the installation of windows (from T36 to T13), and for the last time run into T13, and what you see above is just to pass the T13 OKKKK ;)

Ciao.

Ohh okay i thought the RunOnce would only get executed once during the Windows XP installation now it makes more sense way you used the RunOnceEX. :-)

@OffTopic
Use DX's UpdatePack/Addon Creator http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7622 and create a RunOnceEx AddOn IE7-8 or WindowsDefender or CCleaner or other, and see how it works (RunOnceEx AddOn valid for nLite & RVMi)

@nonno fabio: Just a question. Can you make a repack of:

Windows Media Player 11 x86
Windows Media Player 11 x64
Internet Explorer 8 x86 XP
Internet Explorer 8 x64 XP
Internet Explorer 8 x86 Server 2003
Internet Explorer 8 x64 Server 2003

*With pre-removed WGA and all hotfixes integrated something as updated releases.
,thanks in advance

P.S. I'm thinking for online/live installing executable files not for slipstreaming because we have already onepiece packs.

AFAIK, the last .NET framework that works correctly on XP is 4.0. This is just from what I've read in various forums, so I could be wrong, but I think I remember reading that even when somebody somehow managed to force .NET 4.5 to "install" on XP it didn't actually work, so it was a total waste of time and space. I assume that .NET 4.6 will be the same way.

I'm sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Cheers and Regards

bphlpt,You are right but there is no too much difference between 4.0 and 4.5 but M$ is doing so to force user to upgrade to new os as much I no few guys/gals modified net fx 3.5 addon to work on 2000 where it said to
be impossible ,I think .net is somewhat like java . If it is possible to port then it will be greatest invention .
Hello! I am from India, Even I heard Times of India office client running .net fx 4.6 in xp sp3 by paying lot of money to M$ (Not sure,Heard from few people).As a software devloper ,I am hating M$ for not making netFX4.6 for XP .
4.5 + fixes = 4.6
