When I try to download, I get this message:
===
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /files/RVMAddons_1.7.2.7z on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
===
Can somebody explain, why?

Hello,

Would it be difficult to customise your add-on? It's great, but i'm not as 'techy' as you and as a result some of the programs are unwanted.
  • Copy To/Move To Context Menu Shell Extension
Microsoft Calculator Plus 1.0 (Replaces calc.exe)
Microsoft HighMAT CD Writing Wizard (KB831240)
    Microsoft Remote Desktop Client 5.2.3790.1830
    Unlocker 1.8.5
The above is all i need, if i downloaded your update, do you think i could play with it and figure out how to remove the unwanted programs or is it too complex....

laze.

Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 is available.

Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 for Windows XP

Perhaps this could be included in the next update?

Plan is to release 1.8.0 at the same time as the next update pack. 1.8.0 will have RDC removed from it in favor of including 6.0 in the next pack instead.

@boooggy, agreed, but still al4 had a point since "Microsoft Remote Desktop Client 5.2.3790.1830" is currently in this addon and not in the update pack. ;)

Ryan, any chance that you'd (re-)consider putting Notpad2 into your addon pack??

SyncToy issues

Post by mucknog » Sun Jan 14, 2007 3:27 pm

Using SyncToy 1.4 right now, and it refuses to delete FILES in 'echo'-mode.
When I delete a file on left side, it just doesn't recognize this. I know, this is not a problem with your pack. But I can't figure out where the problem lies. So maybe anyone knows something about this 'bug'?
thanks in advance

Ryan

Just to make you aware you have left out TTFext.hlp from the new addon

edit
just gone through the entries and noticed that you have added it to the obsolete_files. For some reason during the textsetup i'm getting an error saying that TTFext.hlp is missing.

Yeah, the new version doesn't include the help file anymore (in looking at the old one, I was having a hard time figuring out why they bothered including it in the first place :P).

But yeah, if textmode setup is complaining, something's not right. As you said, it's listed in obsolete_files, so it should be getting removed if it's present.

For the ttfext.hlp not found error. Check to see if any of the other addons is using it. I had an addon that added the hlp file and if it was integrated in the same session with the RyanVM Addon, the error occurred.

MD5 Checksum: 6B2474A15F2EC4E304FCE43969F93826
Hi, I'm new here and while doing my homework to understand what I was going to use and do, I found a discrepancy in the above.

I dl'd the pack and the makecab version is newer than quoted, and given that there's some claim about needing a particular version to preserve proper dates (where? why?) I wanted to point it out and find which is correct and how to correct it.

Here's what I found:

Version in RyanVM Addons v1.8.1 is mod date 8/29/02
S:\SW - UTILS\RyanVM\Progs_v1.8.1>makecab /?
Microsoft (R) Cabinet Maker - Version 5.1.2600.1106
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved..

As 'claimied' the Cabsdk includes version:
S:\MS\_utils\CAB SDK\Cabsdk\BIN>makecab /?
Microsoft (R) Cabinet Maker - Version (32) 1.00.0601 (03/18/97)
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corp 1993-1997. All rights reserved.

MS also has available a version last modified 8/4/2004 (US date format)
Not sure what was my source…w2k03 sp1 reskit?
S:\MS\_utils-in>makecab /?
Microsoft (R) Cabinet Maker - Version 5.1.2600.2180
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved..

Given the above:

Does RyanVM do it's own CRC to validate which version is included, or can I switch?

Does the claim that only the v1.00.0601 keeps date format correct still matter since the version now in RyanVM Addons v1.8.1 is already newer?

Thanks,
Jeff

I said it had a bug. I should have said it is unexpected behavior. It doesn't mean it's not usable. You just lose the ability to use the Explore and Explore All Users items in the Start menu. For me, that's not enough reason not to use it.

For the TrueType extension, the DLL is capable of self-registering, so you might want to register it using RegisterDlls instead of manually adding the entries. :)

obsolete?

Post by prathapml » Mon Jul 02, 2007 9:19 pm

this is just a thought, but MS has dis-continued highmat, so you might want to see if its still relevant to include in the addons pack :)

gelome wrote:hey guys i am unable to ddownload....i dont have a firwall on so ....i am getting a 404 error

I know this is a late reply but might help others...

the error mentioned above.....

This is not only with this site but nowadays with many sites...

as More and more people are downloading and using download acceleraters the hosting providers are blocking access ny these download managers...

I too get this error in

1) IE7 with DAP8
2) IE7 with Flashget 1.8/1.9
3) Firefox 2.0.0.X

But can easily download by

1) IE6 No download Manager
2) Ie7 No download Manager
3) Opera 9.x
4) Firefox 1.5.X

The problem is that without the DloadManagers the browser gives referal of the link it is following and which is validated by the server and allowed access..

with the Dload managers they only access the server with just the download link which act as direct file access and which is not permitted hence 404 access denied error

so use OPERA or IE or Firefox1.5 Without Download Managers

Firefox 2.0 internal download manager is also identified as download manager.... :(

Hope this helps someone

thanx

Problem downloadint this Addon pack

Post by NotByWorks » Wed Sep 12, 2007 5:45 am

Ryan,

I've having problems downloading this pack. Here's the deal. Several weeks ago I'd downloaded the your main Update pack and your main addon pack along with many, many other addon packs from the forum. On and off since then, I've spent several hours going through all the varios mulit/AIO addon packs as well as the single-app addons, slowing compiling a list of which ones I'd use vs. which ones I wouldn't need because those apps were included in yours and other multi-addon packs. Anyway, I've finally narrowed nearly a hundred addon packs down to the smaillest possible number that will provide the greatest number of unique, latest version apps. (Whew!) So, now that I'm ready to start the integration process, I've discovered that somehow I'm missing this addon pack. I don't know if I've accidentally deleted it after downloading it to the wrong location or what, but its missing notheless. So, I've tried downloading it again, but so far, no go. Most attempts I get the following:

Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

However, occasionally, the site will let me begin the download, but so far the max speed it'll achieve is 0.3 kbps. Yeah, I typed it right, less that 1 KB/sec! All other files from your site download very quickly. I've disabled the firewall when downloading, so I know that's not it. Also, I'm not using a download manager. As I type, I've managed to begin another download attempt, and I'll leave it running for as long as it will go. But all other attempts resulted in about 60-70% completion and then stops/times out. So, I know this is quite long winded for a first post, but could you help me to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Oh, that's what everyone's been talking about when referencing "Ryan's tracker!" Sorry, guys; I'm relatively new to all this stuff. Thanks for the suggestion, but I finally got the file. I started a new download last night before going to bed, and when I got up it was done. Took about 4 hours to get it, but the file hashes match, so I'm glad. Once again, thanks for the suggestion though, 5eraph. I'll keep the tracker in mind if I have any trouble in the future.

download problems

Post by jhdcomputers » Sun Nov 25, 2007 12:21 am

having major problems downloading, tried internet explorer default download, dnload accel plus and flashget, i either get 503error, authentication request, or if it does start downloading in ie it takes forever. with 2.1.11 it said 13hrs and waited 14hrs, had only 1.5meg and still said 12hrs. highest thruput got with ie was 126bytes not kbytes. tried turning off firewall on my pc but no difference, am behind hardware firewall but can not turn it off, do not have authority for that. got 2.1.11 from major geeks, and i have update 2.1.11.13, still having trouble with downloading the other addons i want to use. :? also i do not have a bittorrent client.

just tried opera 9 same 503 error.

finally figured out that opera is a bittorrent client, and got the rest of the addons that i needed.

thx
