I noticed that previously yumeyao had a separate home and pro
directory that used different .inf files. Is this no longer needed?

home and pro directory contains same contents, and they are for xp while the directory outside them is for 2k3.

Rick has removed 2k3 support so they are no longer needed.

Thanks for keeping it going.

If you're interested in maintenance a 2k3 compatible addon, i have a tiny tool to get checksum and time stamp (currently time zone not specifiable, only local timezone) without installing the hotfix. And a autoit script based on this tool to write the 'file entries' automatically.

I'll upload it when I get home.

I just integrated the first release 1.4.12 and it seems to work great.

Small cosmetics:

The dates for KB2632503-IE8 and KB2699988-IE8 show as %VERSION% instead of the date.

Also, I observed an entry for KB2586448-IE8 which I think was superseded somewhere along the way.

Thanks for updating this, (I was beginning to think I would have to have a go at updating it.)

tried Ricks-YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Nosetuperr_ENU_1_4_13
using xp pro.. and still get nagged by WU for
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2699988)

next ill try Ricks-YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Clean_ENU_1_4_13
with YumeYao_Repair_IE8_cosmetic_problems_addon

and see if it works out ok
fingers crossed...

tried both now and WU still nags for KB2699988

going to attempt to re-make IE8 OnePiece true addon again
fingers crossed...

the only june 2012 version that works for me is
YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Nosetuperr_ENU_1_4_11.7z + yumeyao_IE8_post_1.4.11_Addon.7z

had to update IE8_post file and put updated ie8 hotfix

I just tried this combo with XP Pro SP3 and got the Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2699988) nag. So it didn't work for me.

I just finished searching for updates

I suspect the reason is a geographical one... MS urges only the victimized zones to update their systems against the remote code execution threat initiated from those areas that it obviously does not need this update, since they have the knowledge of the exploit and can protect themselves, of course

MU pushes no such update to me

I use u_h post SP3 pack and "Ricks-YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Nosetuperr_ENU_1_4_12.7z"

and also some home made addons for java, silverlight, capicom, winrar, an inno based addon compilated between kell's and rick's runtimes library

, a modified netframe 2.0 addon, yume's WMP 11 addon, u_h dx addon, red's dx for managed code, vmanda's setup locale addon to add in taskbar a presetting ro keyboard language as second choice alternative to the default english one, a certain KB remove addon from 5eraph (update that slows the net on XP machines but provides support for LAN on Vista based systems in a local network with XP machines, Vista should be patched itself for it's own failure

)

searched for updates after installing office 2003 eng, I mention this because sometimes I so office installation determining MU to redownload and reinstall that microsoft component "kill bill"

of course MU pushes KB2699988 there...KB2699988 it is a june 2012 update and you used the older addon from the first page of the current thread...instead try the 1.4.13 "rick & yume addon"...that you may find here on the 5th page ...
this project, originally developed by yumeyao it is continued by ricktendo64 so he may not have the phorum permission to edit the yume's post or not interested to do so ricktendo is posting as a reply to yume's thread....either way we should not be misled, try the latest release from the 5th page that includes the KB2699988

Thanks vodacuza for pointing that out! I acutally saw the link on the 5th page but kept on reading to the end of the thread to see what else was going on. When I finished I lazily went back to the first post instead of the 5th page and downloaded the IE8 addon from there making the *wrong* assumption that the latest update was also on the first post which of course wasn't. My bad!

I just tried a new integration using user_hidden's latest update pack and Rick-YumeYao's latest IE8 addon (1_4_13) and everything worked fine.

You should have used the /B:SP3QFE switch, shiner. Those entries are for the SP3GDR files.

All file builds could be changed to 19399, but the checksums would still be wrong.

Hey, Rick, when you'll update this addon please also include the following .reg file:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"DisableFirstRunCustomize"=dword:00000001

It's meant to stop the annoying customize screen from appearing. I know yumeyao included some tweaks with his addon, and it's very likely this one is present but in another form. This customization screen didn't appear in the past with yumeyao's addon, probably Microsoft changed something... hopefully this new tweak will work.

RicaNeaga, I think it's best to keep it very close to vanilla version. I certainly like that customisation, because I can choose what to enable or not.
