yumeyao,

I just loaded an XP SP3 build using user_hidden's 1.44 update pack, the current version your IE8 addon, 1.4.1 (no setup error flavor,) and a few other addons.
I am getting the following which I think are related to this addon:
qfecheck log:
KB2360131-IE8: This hotfix should be reinstalled.
setuperr.log
Error:
Setup detected that the system file named [c:\windows\system32\licmgr10.dll] is not signed properly
by Microsoft.
Error:
Setup detected that the system file named [c:\windows\system32\mshtmled.dll] is not signed properly
by Microsoft.
Have you or anyone else seen these?
Is this the IE8 addon or maybe some other addon or an interaction with qfe1.44?

Just wanted to report it.

I did the same basic build as you. XP Pro (& Home) SP3 OEM (MSDN), U_H 1.4.4 updatepack, yumeyao's 1.4.1 no_setup_err IE8 addon (plus loads others) and have ZERO problems with qfecheck.

thanks, mr_smartepants

In that case I will go back to zero and start over again with this build.

I can confirm your report. I have the same errors as you doing a clean install using YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Nosetuperr_ENU_1_4_1.7z. The previous 1.4.0 addon and updatepack 1.4.2 worked fine. Were you able to resolve what the problem was?

Fixed. You can integrate this updated addon upon the source that you have previous version integrated on.

Thanks, yumeyao. I will give version 1.42 a try later today.

adric,
Were you able to resolve what the problem was?
No, I could not determine the source of the problem. I had been working on this (1.4.1) on and off for the past couple of days without success before yumeyao's latest release 1.4.2.

My setuperr.log and qfecheck log are now without errors reported after updating to version 1.4.2.
I could not eliminate those error reports on my system using version 1.4.1.
Thanks again, yumeyao.

wtf? 24-minute wait times with FileSonic? I don't remember them having that. That's lame. Between this, wmp, and your runtimes, I'm looking at 90 minutes before I can start making the disc. lol.

Not a big deal. I use free rapid to download so it's passive. But if you're having trouble finding hosting, I can get you a subdomain on my site so you can host stuff there.

I won't bother adding it now. I'll wait to see whether there is an update for IE8 this Patch Tuesday.

KB2467659 contains registry fixes only, and it should be included in any update pack, so I don't add it here to avoid duplicate operation.

Is there an easy way for me to modify this (wonderful) addon to:
1. Delete all MS-created favorites
2. Delete/Disable all MS Accelerators
3. Hide the favorites bar (i like it when it's hidden...it leaves that icon next to the tabs)
4. Un-Hide the compatibility view button
5. Remove the wikipedia search?

I love all that you've done. Everything has been awesome, but I'm just trying to find the best way to get my disk looking and acting perfectly out of the box.

I mean, would I be looking at integrating registry hacks into the pack, running some sort of batch/vbs, or something else?

Also: Konata's awesome :)

There should also be a way to do some of this using install.ins

hmmm....I googled that a little and saw IEAK....we just got done making a custom IE using IEAK where I work, so is that install.ins a file that I can grab from that kit somwhere that'll accomplish my goals?

updated.

@vultureman,
for 1 and 2, IEAK is a quick way to do so
Just run IEAK and replace install.ins in this addon

for 3, 4, 5, please extract this addon and find ie.inf(there are totally 3 ie.inf's, if you don't know the reason, modify them all), then open ie.inf with notepad(or whatever text-editor you like)

You'll find ";Add wikipedia (en) search engine", then use semicolon to comment the lines following.
You'll find ";Hide Favorite Bar", uncomment the following line by removing the leading semicolon.
You'll find ";Hide compatibility view button on address bar", comment the following line with semicolon.

Maybe this seems a little bit complicated but this addon is for general purpose so it can't satisfy all at the same time.

Hi there guys, it's been almost 2 years since I last reformatted my PC. Back then I used the IE7 addon by MrNxDmx without problems, so now I decided to use this IE8 addon on my CD.

I integrated XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack 20110208 by user_hidden and the Clean Style IE8 addon with nlite on a clean XP SP3 source. Then I removed a lot of things, among those things I removed Internet Explorer (but not the Internet Explorer Core).
Now the problem is that during Windows install, at the "Registering components" point, I start getting a lot of errors about not being able to access some files (eg. regsvr32.exe). Since there's only a "OK" button, I have to hold down the Enter key for a few seconds because of so many errors.
[I'm at work right now so I can't give you the exact message or which files setup complains about, but I can do it when I get home if needed.]

If I use the old IE7 addon by MrNxDmx, or if I don't integrate any IE addon, setup completes without a problem.

My guess is that there's something very different in IE8 installation, in comparison to the IE7 installation, that causes nlite to corrupt the installation after removing the components.

I wanted to know if any of you guys have encountered a similar issue.

Thanks

I think it's not because IE8's much different from IE7, it's because this addon changed IE.inf so nLite could not properly remove filecopy entries from IE.inf while processing.

w....t....fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

I installed IEAK 8 on my W7 Pro 32-bit desktop, and when I launch it, it says "IEAK 9". I never installed 9 EVER for any reason.

Guess I gotta use XP Mode (a second image of it that was upgraded to IE8), since I just got rid of my XP partition :(

edit: IEAK8 works just fine in XP Mode. For a reference, here's what I customized:

Code: Select all

User Experience
--Hands-free Installation
--No Restart
Search Providers
--import, then delete all but google
Add a homepage
--delete current and then add http://www.google.com
Favorites
--delete all MS favorites
--disable Suggested Sites
Browsing Options
--Delete all existing items under Favorites
--check all boxes for the "Do not add MS defaults"
First Run Wizard
--uncheck run wizard
--change custom homepage to google
Additional Settings
--Custom Settings
----Delete Browser History
------checked everything except "Delete Passwords"
----Other Settings
------checked "lock all toolbars"
------changed last option to "Go Directly to Home Page"
----Other Settings (Machine)
------checked "lock all toolbars"
------changed last option to "Go Directly to Home Page"
--Corporate Restrictions
----Browser Menus
------checked everything under the "Help Menu" section

Thanks again, yumeyao. I have been using the nosetuperr version for a while without any issues to date.
I just finished loading an XP setup image with YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Nosetuperr_ENU_1_4_7.7z
integrated and got a new entry in setuperr.log that I think is due to this addon.
Error:
Setup detected that the system file named [c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\vgx\vgx.dll] is not signed properly
by Microsoft. This file could not be restored to the correct Microsoft version.
Use the SFC utility to verify the integrity of the file.
file properties:
Microsoft Vector Graphics Rendering(VML)
8.0.6001.23167

Anyone else getting this with this addon?
Thanks again yumeyao for taking the time to maintain this nice addon, just thought I would report it.

Thanks for reporting, that's true.

My packaging script doesn't have pro\vgx.dll included, that's why the xp branch of this file is present in my working directory and my test zip addon, but not included in the release 7z addon.

I'm uploading the new version.

--edit--

updated.
I'll change my packaging script to avoid such mistakes in future releases.

THX :)
Give this 2 addons priority:
[Addon] Internet Explorer 8 for XP/2k3 1.4.8
[Addon] Microsoft Runtime Libraries Collection(x86) 2.0.6
user_hidden dose a good jop with the .NET addons.
And after a Windows Update this 2 addons are the most important once that people wait for.
