How to make AddOns and Update Packs: Win7 (x64)

Post by don1959nLite » Mon Feb 22, 2010 9:39 pm

Q: Has anyone made any Update Pack or Add-on files for Windows 7 (x64)?
If so, How? Thanks, Don

AFAIK, no. The closest things to update packs for Vista or 7 are compilations of Microsoft Updates, which you can integrate using vLite (google for it). But there's usually nothing special about these "update" packs. They're just repackaged copies of Microsoft's official downloads. I used to use vLite for Vista, and it can be used for 7, but it hasn't been updated specifically for 7. I don't bother using it anymore, because IMHO 7 is so easy to install and deal with that at least until there's a lot more updates to do post-install, everything works well enough and fast enough without integrating the updates.

I'm sure I will want to eventually, unless the Service Packs come out fast and/or the next Windows comes out soon enough, supposing that I actually want to use the next Windows.

Many people have created these, but not here. There is a complete forum for Win7 updatepacks and addons over at WinCert.
