[Request] CKRename

Post by Nologic » Sun Nov 20, 2005 8:00 am

CKRename is a handy utility you can use to perform batch file renaming operations.

Ooh this one`s easy, just one .exe and no reg entries. Can i convince you to have a go Nologic?

I can throw an example together if you like.

CKRename is a great little "applet". Use it all the time. The only niggle I have with it, is that it doesn't seem to want to do batch renames of folders (or at least -- I never worked out how to do that if it does do them!).

I am curious though, Xable said there was no regentries, but wouldn't adding it to the popup menu for folders be classed as a regentry? :)

Xable: I'd be interested in seeing the code you use for adding CKRename to your personal addon pack (am just about to start my own pack, and would love to include it)

Ah yes forgot about the right click, never have used that. I`ve included it in the example below minus the uninstall info.

It will get installed to D:\Program Files\CKRename
a shortcut placed in Program Files\CKRename
and the entrie added to right click

Code: Select all

[Version]
Signature = $Windows NT$

[Optional Components]
CKRename

[CKRename]
OptionDesc = "CKRename Addon Pack"
Tip        = "CKRename"
Modes      = 0,1,2,3
CopyFiles  = CopyCKRename,Copyshortcut
AddReg     = CKRename.AddReg

[SourceDisksNames.x86]
1 = "CKRenameFiles","CKRename.cab",,"i386"

[DestinationDirs]
CopyCKRename  = 16422,%CKRENAME%
CKRenamelnk   = 16407,%LINK%

[SourceDisksFiles]
CKRename.exe = 1
CKRename.lnk = 1

[CopyCKRename]
CKRename.exe

[Copyshortcut]
CKRename.lnk

[CKRename.AddReg]
HKCR,"Directory\shell\%NAME%",,,"%NAME%..."
HKCR,"Directory\shell\%NAME%\command",,,"16422\%NAME%\%NAME%.exe %1"
HKCR,"Drive\shell\%NAME%",,,"%NAME%..."
HKCR,"Drive\shell\%NAME%\command",,,"16422\%NAME%\%NAME%.exe %1"

[Strings]
CKRENAME  = "CKRename"
LINK      = "CKRename"
NAME      = "CKRename"
I too miss the lack of folder re-naming but for files it`s great.

bledd, i`ve never had that problem. Used it for ages.

Xable -

Hehe I've ran out of freebie's eh ;)

Jondar -

I normally use FlashRenamer which supports folder renaming...it has a lot more options than CKRename...and only thing its really lacking is regex. How ever its not freeware...thus why CKRename was suggested. :)
