I didn't refer that it checks the player updates...I think something's wrong with the integration. If I install WMP 10 manually after I install a Windows without any integration packs, and I go to Check Player Updates, it really verifyes if a new version of WMP exist, and displays a different message than the one I mentioned in the previous post.

Might as well ask........ has anyone seen any news updates as to when WMP11 is likely to go final? Or if another beta is scheduled for release?

I don't know if there is going to be another beta of it, because I'm not keeping up with it, but from what I understand it and IE7 are going to be released in Q4 this year via Microsoft Update, I believe I read this on MSFN's site...

@Ryan, I know you discussed putting this into the main update pack in the past, have you done that yet or is it still only available as a seperate download?

I haven't decided yet, but I'm leaning toward putting WMP11 in the main pack (same for IE7)

Please don't put IE7 in the main pack, there are anough problems with it (even with other MS software, Great Plains Dynamics refuses to work with IE7 at all) that lots of enterprise customers are investigating ways of blocking the install once IE7 goes-gold from MS.

MS has even offered a config file for SUS and SMS servers that will block quto-downloads of IE7.

WMP11, yes, that's well tested code.

IE7, too many unknowns even with the widespread betas.

Why is KB922042.cat in the root of the compressed file...and same with kb913800.exe

And the Inf refers to 2 different versions of Drmv2clt.dll...is that supposed to be there?

where is that KB922042.cat file, i cant see it in Ryans WMP 2.8, are u sure u have latest one?
And about 913800.exe, it has to be there because of KB913800.
About drmv2clt.dll, wmp10.inf file has 2 version about that; 11.0.0.4332, 11.0.0.4346. Maybe first one should be 11.0.0.4346 too. Wait Ryans reply..

, you know what happened? I downloaded that to add to 2.9, but I must have grabbed the wrong one because I got the one with DLL build 3934. As a result, I saw that the one in my pack was newer and didn't add it

Maybe make an Addon for just the update, and put it in the main post?

Btw, the bottom link is the one you want.

add on doubt

Post by Dvij » Mon Sep 04, 2006 10:14 pm

Hi I've a small doubt does the addons which u provide install automatically. for example the windows media player 10 addon after integrating with nlite and making a bootable iso cd will the wmp10 automatically install into my computer means after the os is installed can i directly go to start menu -> programs -> and check for the windows media player or does it asks for user interference before installing wmp10. thanks in advance.

My addon doesn't require anything to be installed. It directly replaces WMP9 on the CD with WMP10.

for the record KB886540 will instal mplayer2 & wmp9 from scratch for thoes using N version of xp
may come in handy for anyone who wants their wmp back or wish to make an addon for it .
or for adding necessary parts of this hotfix so wmp10Addon can work independently whether its removed/absent from the cd (no complains..) ;)

There's a fix for the version I include as well. No, I'm not planning on updating the WMP10 pack until a more significant fix is released for it (I mean honestly, how many people are really affected by 902344?).

I used "RVMAddonsWMP10_2.9" to integrate into an Xp install using NLite.

But with this version, I cannot play DRM protected files.
So, I decided to try to uninstall it....hmmm... was not in the add/remove programs section.
So tried "uninstalling" it in "add/remove windows components", but didn't really work, cause when I download the vanilla mediaplayer10 and try to install it, I get a message saying that there is already a newer version installed....
So, how the hell do I do a proper uninstall of this version or make it able to play DRM protcted videos?

Pleas help :)

TIA
