This component is NOT included as default in Onepiece's XP post-SP3 AIO UpdatePack. This because we got no time to test if it's useful or not and what exactly it requires or what program use it.

According to Yumeyao (thx) it needs as prerequisite KB970159 (User-Mode Driver Framework version 1.9), included in Onepiece's XP post-SP3 AIO UpdatePack and Onepiece's or Yumeyao's WMP 11 addon, and Windows Driver Foundation

Don't ask for a different configuration of Onepiece's XP AIO Update Pack: use one of the existing vanilla XP UpdatePack with your preferred addons instead

Installing/Integrating this without WDF makes no sense.

BTW the files winusb.sys and winusb.dll do nothing, they need another driver who depends on it to create the winusb service. Example KB952013 WUDFUsbccidDriver.inf

Code: Select all

[WinUsb_ServiceInstall]
DisplayName     = %WinUsb_Service_DisplayName%
ServiceType     = 1
StartType       = 3
ErrorControl    = 1
ServiceBinary   = %12%\WinUSB.sys
LoadOrderGroup  = Base

; I also update these files with the ones from WDK 7.1
[CoInstallers_AddReg]
HKR,,CoInstallers32,0x00010000,"WudfUpdate_01007.dll","WinUsbCoinstaller.dll","WdfCoInstaller01007.dll,WdfCoInstaller"

@yumeyao
need to see him again even good, for this reason has not been put in update pack, however the WUDF v1.9 is already part of the defualt Update pack now, however once I'll have free time, I will see good to see him

in poor words, to me I do not believe in much, for this reason and was published so as addon alone, to review the reactions of users in this regard

so I just do as true addon just what does WINUSB_UPDATE_XP-SRV03-X86.exe, and the rest see him again well after

@ricktendo64
yes or seen at once that hotifx it does not install any service, for this reason yesterday in private to you or asked info suorse on the hotfix, to read more good there, but I went out and the weather also precisely this addon it's not been put in update pack, as it is good to see him again, and only after we decide that

Thank you all for the reports

Ciao a tutti.

WUDF is required by WMP's MTP drivers.

WDF is not required by any components we've ever made addons.
WinUSB is based on WDF.

So WUDF is required. WinUSB and WDF are not required, integrating them only adds to disk space and system resource usage.

Additionally, updating WUDF to latest is recommended, because if one has an old version of WUDF installed(by WMP), when he is to install a driver that contains a newer version of WUDF, he may requires reboot.

My understanding is this for people developing software for USB devices and has no practical use for a typical PC user.

I found that it is essential if you want to access a Windows phone using Explorer in XP. By itself it is insufficient for this function so you have to download 'Windows Phone - Other hardware - WinUsb Device' from Microsoft Update catalogue to install a generic Windows phone USB driver using the Found New Hardware wizard. This consists of two files - winusbcompat.inf and winusbcompat.cat. As WInUSB 2.0 includes a kernel mode driver winusb.sys I decided to install the Microsoft Kernel Mode Driver Framework runtime 'Microsoft Kernel-Mode Driver Framework Install-v1.9-Win2k-WinXP-Win2k3.exe' extracted from WdfCoinstaller01009.dll which is the co-installer for KMDF 1.9
