Integrating Windows Server 2003, R2 and SP2

Post by codejunkie » Tue Apr 24, 2007 1:25 pm

I have a slipstreamed version of Windows Server 2003 R2, I tried integrating SP2 over the top but I just got an error stating that the Service pack wasn't computable with my version of Windows. if you are having a similar problem you should try this method

1. Copy the contents of you Windows Server 2003 (SP0 or SP1) to your hard drive IE dir C:\Win2k3_CD1\

2. Now copy the contents of your Windows 2003 R2 disk to your hard drive IE dir C:\Win2k3_CD2\

3. Now you need to create a batch file to integrate the SP into the 2 folders
Here is mine

Code: Select all

"D:\Unattended\Apps\Install\Service Packs\Windows\WindowsServer2003-KB914961-SP2-x86-ENU.exe" -s:C:\Win2k3_CD1\
"D:\Unattended\Apps\Install\Service Packs\Windows\WindowsServer2003-KB914961-SP2-x86-ENU.exe" -s:C:\Win2k3_CD2\
Please note if there are any spaces in the paths make sure you 'wrap' them with speak marks.

4. Upon completion of the integration you will be able to merge the folders to slipstream Windows 2003 SP2 and R2-SP2

-=To be completed=-

I have a DVD version of Windows 2003 Server and i cant slipstream. It does the slipstreaming but when i try to install it screams about sp2.cab having nothing in txtsetup.sif. The DVD folder structure is like this

NRMLFPP_EN0:
autorun.inf
autorun.ico
SitAutorun.inf
win51
win51il
---Boot
---CD1
------Setup.exe
------win51
------win51il
------i386
------MSSEARCH
------printers
------SUPPORT
------Setup
------------i386
---CD2
------EXCHSRVR65
---CD3
------HEALTHMON21
---CD4
------OUTLS11.MSI
------Setup.exe

Theres more, in those folders. Boot has files for booting and starting setup, theres a txtsetup.sif in the boot folder and another inthe CD1\i386 folder. I noticed this, CD 1 has the windows setup files, cd2 has exchange, cd 3 has monitoring files and cd4 has autlook 2003. In the boot folder theres files for installing as in cd1\i386, and in cd1\i386\setup theres another i386 but doesnt have the same files as cd1\386.

I dont know if this is of interest to anybody. If theres a way of getting the file and folder structure into a text file without havig to do manualli, ask for it and i'll do it.
