Windows 2003 Server Sp2 & R2 x64 updatepack

Hi,

i'm M_P_E from the WinLite community and made the Updatepacks for the german Windows 2003 Server x64 systems. Now i want to present you the EN-US version of this updatepack. And first, sorry for my broken english

short description:
this updatepack contains all critical hotfixes for a EN-US Windows 2003 Server x64 post SP2 (& R2). It only works in the Hotfix integration mode with nLite (tested 1.4.9.1 ).
ATTENTION: If you intend to use in nLite the Unattended Option then keep in mind as well to patch the SFC = Windows File Protection (locate in Options), otherwise you'll become some error messages relative to digital signature problems at installation. If you not intend to use Unattended Option then patching SFC isn't necessary.

version: 04/19/2009
installation mode: directly substitution in AMD64\I386 folders

description:

contains all critical hotfixes for a EN-US version of Windows 2003 Server x64 (& R2) post SP2. The microsoft malicious removal tool self is not in this updatepack, but the registry keys will be set during installation, so MSRT in Windows Update will be shown not anymore. Additionally i included Microsoft Update Control, Windows Update Agent 3.0 x64 & the latest Root Certificates from Microsoft.

The Internet Explorer 7/8 x64 and the updates for IE7 x64 are not in this package.

contains following hotfixes:

Thank you. This worked very well.

The only thing I noticed at first was a complaint about a "Battery" driver that I had to press OK for it to go past, but when I tried the install again to get a screenshot, it didn't do it.

Also, Windows Update was not the latest, so I had to download and install the latest of that to get a list of updates. It would be nice if it had the latest Windows Update or perhaps even Microsoft Update. I read your description again and saw that you said Microsoft Update was included. For some reason, it required me to switch to Microsoft Update from Windows Update and download some files. Very minor, of course.

As you mentioned, the only update in the recommended update remaining was IE 7.

Thank you for the nice update pack!

Thanks for the report. This with Windows Update a collegue from me noticed, too. Will be fixed in the next release.

The thing with battery driver i don't recognize yet. Do you had made a real install or in VMWare or other virtualization Software? I know from some people that they have similar problem, but just in VMWare. In real installations this bug don't exists i think.

But thanks for answering.

Yes, this happened within VMWare. When I installed it again within VMWare, the Battery driver notification didn't happen, so I don't have any other info about it.

Thank you for your hard work! I look forward to your next release (hopefully with the February updates).

Ok, thanks for the feedback.
After installing Windows XP Pro x64 Edition with your update pack, the next updates
appears on Windows Update:
kb931261
kb923789
I think this is because i made this Pack primarily for Windows Server 2003. Maybe on the next update i will integrate these Hotfixes, too.
Windows Update engine from your update pack probable is not the last since
before check for available updates, Windows downloaded something.
This i don't understand. When i make an install with my W2k3 and my Pack Windows Update & Microsoft Update don't need an update, they're actually. I Can't find the reason for this, but will keep finding the issue.

M_P_E can you check these
log files? I don't know what means those errors.
Don't look like that these errors are in effect of my Pack. Sorry, i don't know a reason for that errors.

I integrated the new update pack into Windows XP Pro x64. No errors this time and only two updates appears on Microsoft Update.
But I think the issue about Microsoft Update Engine is still present.
Check the next screens
Image
Image
In Windows XP Pro x64 is probable a different version of Update Engine, but is not a problem for me. Forget it.
Those two updates for Windows XP x64 can be integrated with nLite.
Thanks again for your great effort.

I also get 4 'copy errors' during textmode.

ww03a2409.dll
ww03a3409.dll
muweb.dll
wga.dll

and the install completes if I press 'esc' to skip these files. But then when it attempts to reboot to the GUI portion of the setup, i get a BSOD Fatal System Error 0xc0000034 with a 'STOP' c000021a

Just saw this...perhaps this is the reason lol.

Any chance of RVM Integrator Compatibility?

Update:

* see first post

complete redesign of the pack to fix some issues and optimization to the pack. Now Microsoft Update works, also updates for the Windows Update Agent and the latest Root Certificates.

And sorry for not updating the pack since April, but i was very busy in business. I don't have forgotten my international friends, promise approvement for faster next releases

So amuse with the new pack and give me some feedback. Thx.

@jumz

I don't use RVM Integrator and don't know the ropes about it, so sorry. And that case with the long filenames must be and disfigurement of RVM Integrator, because the original windows hotfixes uses long filenames, too. And that thing with BSOD should not have nothing to do with the long filenames or RVM Integrator i think. Possibly now with the new pack it works?
