Help and Support Center

Post by RickSteele » Mon Mar 23, 2009 10:12 pm

When you hit the link in a system log for example, Help and Support Center pops up with a description of the event and, if this is an error log, a full description of the error and any and all links to any help that exists in M$ knowledge base.

For example:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7036
Date: 3/23/2009
Time: 9:53:59 PM
User: N/A
Computer: CR382141-A
Description:
The Application Layer Gateway Service service entered the running state.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp .

there are no errors here, but, if I hit "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." the Help and Support Center should pop up with this dialogue showing and a description of the event. Mine does not do this anymore; just pops up blank. Anyone have any ideas what may have broke it?
Thanks in advance.

It works for me, but it takes 10-20 seconds for the details to load after the Help and Support Center window pops up. This happens on a Windows install that does not include my update pack, so the delay is Microsoft's problem and is probably due to internet traffic.

If the details don't show at all then there must be a problem on your end somewhere.

Right on 5eraph; thanks, that is how it works for me also. I never thought to wait for it-10 to 20 sec. or so.
Perfect, one less thing to worry about!
