it includes "managed code" too ? I want to know because I use the redxii's "dx 4 managed code" and if this contains it or not... wouldn't like to risk messing things... thanx

managed code is not included.
it has to be added seperately IF you install .Net framework.

Hi,

I just made a diff between yumeyao's pack and yours. I noticed XAPOFX1_3.dll are different. In your pack it is digitally signed 2009-03-16, in yumeyao's it is signed 2009-09-05. Both files' signatures are valid.

cheers

From the last test I just did, new "web installer" didn't install any new file on my system, only prompting me to install Bing Toolbar.

About time.
I was beginning to think MS had stopped the 3-4 month update schedule for DX9.

Micro$oft reason to update dxwebsetup.exe
seems to be only to bundle it with Bing (tool)Bar,
since no update are delivered. See that picture:

we are pleased if M$ f...k itself, his bar !

So it seems that in addition to the Bing bar, the "updated" web installer fixes installation issues, not the underlying files themselves, they're the same.

many thanks for this :)

I noticed that during install the dxrt.inf file displays a small progress bar for several seconds while copying files.

To ensure no progress display, I added a dx.cmd file to install dxrt.inf in silent mode...

dx.cmd

Code: Select all

@echo off

::silent install .inf::
rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection dxrt.inf,DefaultInstall,1 >nul

del /F /Q %0% >nul
and edited 7z config to run dx.cmd silent

7z config

Code: Select all

;!@Install@!UTF-8!
GUIMode="2"
RunProgram="hidcon:dx.cmd"
;!@InstallEnd@!
runinf.exe was no longer needed.

thanks again :wink:

So making stdout redirected to nul prevents the progress from showing. Would you kindly talk about where did find this or how did you know this.

Btw, runinf is for ensuring correct 'bitness'(32 64) is runned for 64-bit OS. But since now we have 64bit sfx modules so it is not needed any more.

Advanced INF Installer - LaunchINFSection using RunDLL32

This link http://www.mdgx.com/INF_web/launch.htm explains how Rundll32 is used to install inf silently using a <flag>... in this case 1 (ie. rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection dxrt.inf,DefaultInstall,1 >nul)

DirectX End-User Runtimes 9.29.1974 Redistributable (April 2011)

microsoft updated redistributable as well

although I am afraid that what was updated does not affect the current addon, only the version maybe "9.29.1974" :)

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... px?id=8109

and also here is the microsoft bla bla regarding the dx webupdate update...which they say is the reason for updating the redistributable...

NO update to the DirectX files in April 2011 file.
Look at the download it is still labelled as directx_Jun2010_redist.exe.

the addon in this thread is CURRENT.

As far as I've seen, the only thing updated was the installer itself, not the files being installed.

Yumeyao seems to have silently updated his:
"YumeYao_DirectXRuntimes_201006_Addon_32.cab", on 21.08.2012
(embedded files are same: only changes in runinf.exe & dxrt.inf)

His changelog shows:
2012-8-21
updated runinf.exe. to support "/q" better. (Now no issues or flashing windows)
updated main inf file to force overwriting files. (Filecopy: filename,,,4)
Has any of this any bearing in UH addon here?
Or are these only some cosmetic changes.
