not sure if this will help him... but during my "beta tests" of the Japanese "onepiece" update pack I was making, I had that same issue.... it turns out that some of the MSI files didn't get copied over and a catalog mismatch resulted, causing MSI to freak out

When you got such an error, you must verify that msi.dll file version matches with the one listed in pack's OPMWXPUP.inf file here

Microsoft has released yesterday a new version of WMP11 (11.0.5721.5262).
True addon is already updated: you can add it after the pack, till this will be updated.

Since it appears nobody has mentioned it yet... some users may see a persistent KB982524 update notification. Repeated attempts at installing it via Windows Updates or Automatic Updates doesn't make it go away despite the fact that either one of them reports successful installs.

nonno created a fix for currently running XP installations with this problem:

IF you are making a new disc using update pack 3.8.0 and want to prevent this problem, first integrate the pack as usual. Then use the remove addons to get rid of .net 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 (you can skip this step if you are using nlite). Then download the June 28, 2010 release of nonno's .net 3.5 full standalone addon, and the .net 4.0 standalone addons here:

Integrate those new ones into your CD and anything else you want in, then make/burn ISO as usual. I had this issue with a new XP Home disc I made and I did just that which fixed it.

This post applies to v3.8.0 ONLY. Any newer Onepiece update pack should have that fixed as stated by nonno on msfn

Thank you very much for your help. I specify only that there's no need to add remove addons in RVMi too: simply add .net 3.5 and .net 4.0 addons in addons section of RVMi (or after the updatepack in nLite list) and pack's dotnets will be overwritten in XP source.

You can also manually change netfx .cabs in the updated source with the one extracted from new addons, they're only six files.

I suggest to add WMP11 true addon too because is newer than the one inside v3.8.0 pack

WindowsUpdate NEVER shows WMP11 updates, even if "public", unless they're critical. On june 22th MS released a new full version of WMP11 for XP, with newer files. See WMP11 true addon topic.

I'm having some issues that I've had before but they're back now

So without going into it too much, is the ISO file supposed to be 791MB (MSDN SP3 + 3.8.0 Update) I have a feeling that it's not integrating for some reason... could someone confirm please

Mine was 794MB.

MSDN SP3, OnePiece 3.80, integrated with nLite and ISO generated.

794MB ISO file.

One doesn't need to keep this at all unless one is updating from windows 2000 or otherwise

I tried this fix, twice, and it didn't help. Windows Update kept wanting to install .net 3.5 SP1, and TurboTax wouldn't install.

the alternative of course is to run the remove addon options like I did and take out 60 megs of crap I don't care about such as windows search 4.0, the windows remote management framework junk (powershell, etc), browerchoice (it doesn't do anything anyway, but it saves like 200k), and .net 4.0 (not much stuff uses it and its easy to install afterwards anyway)

I, like some others prefer to keep those "unnecessary" folders to preserve some resemblance of an "original" install disc, so that's why I do it this way... if I can get the final ISO down to 722mb, I can barely overburn a CD-R

using the "optimize files" function in rvm helps out a lot too

but as always, you can always burn this stuff to a DVD-R and never worry about getting rid of anything

No, it isn't listed because .net 2.0 true-mode integration is strongly suggested for the correct working of a pack-updated XP source.

No problem with 1.1 and/or 3.x removal/disabling instead.

I used nLite and applied packs in the following order:

1- 5er_MSSignedThemes_Addon_v6.1.1_x86.7z (Signed Themes)
2- Kels_Uber_Addon_v15.2.2.rar
3- Kels_Runtimes_addon_v6.8.rar
4- OnePiece_Windows_XP_Post-SP3_UpdatePack_v3.9.0_ENU.7z

I just selected integrating hotfixes and Unattended sections.

Installed XP on a VM ran the netfx_setupverifier.exe and it reports all .NET family pass the test except .NET 4.0 full & client.

Previous 3.8.0 had the same problem too.

Archive hashes match to what they should be.
The host is an ancient AMD 2200 with 1 GB RAM.
Guest has 512 MB RAM.

that verifier has not worked properly since dotNet4 came out.

Hi. I used the OnePiece_Windows_XP_Post-SP3_UpdatePack_v3.9.0_ENU update with a clean XP Home SP3 OEM disc, and integrated with nLite. Two different integrations, one with just the update, and another with other stuff too. Once XP is installed, I go to windows updates and the only update left is Windows Live Essentials, and I'm not able to install it. I even downloaded the web installer from MS called WLSETUP-WEB.EXE. But it gets all the way to the end, then bombs and rolls back. All of .NET seems to verify okay. I would really like to get Windows Live installed as I'll be using this disc for many installs.

Can anyone verify this issue and is able to duplicate and/or fix it?

Okay, after reading some previous posts, I found a link to a Rollback Fix that worked and allowed Windows Live Photo Gallery to install. I just ran the post installer fix and it worked. Since WLPG had an issue installing, who knows what other future installers could bomb too, and I do not want that happening in the future.

Thanks for this great update pack, it's just amazing to have virtually ZERO windows updates after a brand new install.

I believe the MSI hotfix causes the roxio 9 installer to bomb out too... I have not looked into it to be sure nor has anyone else confirmed this

In the changelog of your update-pack, there is a statement, that: KB975167 supersedes KB957579. I looked at both these m$ KB articles, and found that the hotfix KB975167 only contains one file:

I think, that both of those hotfixes should be applied. Because the newer KB975167 replaces just a single file of that older hotfix content: afd.sys.
