For non english pack and RVMintegrator 1.0.5 (UNICODE file)

Post by vier » Fri Nov 25, 2005 10:14 am

In non english version the SVCPACK and SYSOC file are in UNICODE, and RVM Integrator (1.0.5) not support this (for the moment, I send the code for inetegrate UNICODE2ANSI in RVM_Integrator).

I create a mini exe for tranform this 2 UNICODE files in ANSI/ASCII system for compatibility with RVM Integrator :

http://createurxp.win-web.be/download/UNICODE2ANSI.exe

Place the exe on Windows XP CD root before integration, launch, remove, and use RVM_Integrator after.

Are you saying that there is a bug in the update pack itself, or your custom build?

after search, is not really a bug but the file is on original CD of Windows XP SP2 is encoded in "Unicode"

But I don't know if RVm_Integrator support Unicode when it modified the file

So maybe the initial post was a little over the top? ;)

No-one else has reported such svcpack.inf issues AFAIK, so I think the Integrator is not the source of your problem.

hmmm... I have heard that some chinese versions of windows has certain files that are in unicode. The integrator can not integrate to a unicode file at the time and possibly may not be able to in the future. :(

So um, if English is the only supported language, is there really a problem here?

Yes, it's all English-based. If people are integrating onto non-supported versions, we can't really be held responsible if things don't work right.

I test on XP home SP2 original CD with update pack and RVM Integrator 1.0.5 :

Problem the SYSOC and SVCPACK is in Unicode and the line add as corrupt.

I found the solution for this two files. I send this to Siginet.

The solution optimize in the same time sysoc !!

In Japanese XP, SYSOC.INF is in Unicode.

It needs to be converted and saved in ASCII (i.e. by notepad2) before applying Updatepak but also need whole locaized files, that is translated version of Updatepak.

As for SVCPACK.INF, same manner as creating drvindex.inf in __integrate.cmd should be no problem.

But I am not using integrator but own script (equivalent to __integrate.cmd) to edit these files with Japanese version of Updatepak I made.

Localized INF files may have different country ID code, text, and path name.

Yes my solution read the original file in Unicode and tranform into ASCII. The system can be integrate to RVM inetgrator !

For the moment I create a mini-exe for convert file. I edit the first post !

Now that is not very nice of you to say.

but anyways , the Dutch version isnt working with the integrator , and i guess many more.
Maybe its time someone else makes something like the integrator , so we can all enjoy update packs and addons, en not just english.

Ok, but for the moment
UNICODE2ANSI + RVM integrator 1.0.5 permit to function with UNICODE file before the new release.

I'm test in french version and not problem.

My method is just for patient the new release.
