What makes XP auto-refresh all windows now and then?
Can't vouch for Vista and 7, but on XP at least I find it tends to refresh all my open windows every now and then, which is really annoying when I've got new files/folders at one end that I'm trying not to get mixed up with everything else.
I always assumed it had something to do with the icon cache, but my "Max Cached Icons" setting is currently at 32768. I don't get it. Is there something else that's causing it? I wish to stop it, you see.

that, combined with the icon cache setting should do it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]

I put a bunch of tweaks on MSFN's site a long while back. You should use them because I'm a fucking genius.

The bug was in Kel's UberPack. It was fixed. I'm not sure what is causing it now either.
Fix reported here: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=98235#98235
It removes the tweak.

Strange, I have this reg setting enabled already. I'll have to see if it's anything like Comodo Firewall, or the Apple Mobile Device Service, or Drive Space Indicator that's doing it...shiner wrote:google is your friend.
