Toshiba Satellite Laptop Install WORKS GREAT!
Just another quick Thank You for the QFE 1.4.4 package.
My older P4 Toshiba laptop is working GREAT and running like a top.
Between these update packs and the famous Driver Packs, we can make old systems work like new again. It works for me!
Thanks again, and best wishes from cooler Atlanta, GA.

I use office2003sp3 and dont have that issue.adric wrote:I just installed Office 2003+SP3 on an integrated 1.4.4 system and all of a sudden MU is reporting that KB973904 needs to be installed. does qfecheck say the hotfix has to be reinstalled?
perhaps in the integration the files from office overwrote without version check?
did you integrate SP3 into your office image and how?
i did mine way back with Office Integrator.

I slipstreamed Office 2003 with SP3 and installed that. You are most likely correct that files were overwritten because I see 2 files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TEXTCONV with older dates.
MSCONV97.DLL
MSWRD832.CNV
RECOVR32.CNV
WRD6ER32.CNV
I did not know about Office Integrator. Are update packs available for this integrator or do you have to roll your own?
Would bee cool if I could integrate Office with the latest 2003 updates. I found an office integrator, but not much more after a quick look. Thanks for any tips ..
Thanks, Al

It's because my IE8 addon doesn't install these files(the original IE6 installs them). So when you install office 2003, they are installed from the office 2003 source, therefore you need to reinstall KB973904.
If you are installing office 2003 from a customized source(admin deployed, files are extracted in the same directory structure as you install them), you can just replace these files with latest files from u_h's pack.

guys for simple people... can someone explain why a patch for win XP in Dec 2009 (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/securi ... 9-073.mspx) from has something to do with IE8 addon by yumeyao and an old patch for Office July 2009
and
if u make a new office 2003 disc slipping SP3 and TwoJ's great bundle of patches (http://siginetsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=690)... where do we end up?

Well, user_hidden and YumeYao will have to confirm this, but I think the situation is that Office 2003 needs some files that the combination of XP/IE8 as updated don't otherwise need. Being good AddOn makers, user_hidden and YumeYao removed the files to make the resulting build as small as possible for your benefit. Since the files were removed, the patches for them from July and Dec 2009 weren't needed either. Now since you're adding Office 2003 back into the mix, the files and their updates are needed again. If you used Office 2007, or Open Office, or something else, there might be different files that you need. That's just what you have to deal with when you update/slim/change the OS. It can make it faster and more reliable, but occasionally you need something that was removed.
Since Office 2003 after being slipped by the Office Integrator using TwoJ's update pack can be installed on XP/2003/2008/Vista/Win7 and IE6/IE8/IE9 could be present, I don't know if you'll need any other updates or not. You'll just have to try it and see.
Cheers and Regards

So then I wonder why either user_hidden or YumeYao did not choose to have them updated? I know, I really know nothing at all about update packs, so I probably should just back out of this whole conversation and try to sit back and learn something. That's what I get for sticking my two cents in where I don't know enough. Sorry.ricktendo64 wrote:The files are present in the XP iso so the update applies to XP weather or not you use o2k3...remember XP has Worpad

thank you all very much for the replies.... still one last question.... so if the office disc is slipped with all latest patches does it get the right update or do we need Benners to (continue his great support and to ) play with the office integrator ?user_hidden wrote:the update IS in the updatepack.

I'm planning on doing a new XP build tomorrow with an integrated Office 2003 (SP3 + latest hotpack ) created with Office Integrator. I will report back.
Update:
MU is no longer reporting KB973904 as not installed and QFECHECK says it is current after this last Office integration.

I have the same problem when using latest office xp made with office integrator.
MU detects KB975025
which is a critical XP update although not pushed to the public list of critical updates... it can be easily integrated if u_h considers so
it has 2 very small updated files related to wma codecs and audio compression, voice... and patches a vulnerability that permits an intruder access the resources, maybe microphon or so
and of course you can install it whether you have or not the office xp installed as it addresses a system file

It seems that office integrator is having issues and they should be taken
up with it's coder Benners and/or the office updatepack maker TwoJ.
TwoJ has stated in the integrator forum for a few months already that Office Integrator needs to be updated to fix issues with MU.
Benners has posted that he has been "waylaid" by some project and been too busy to address those issues.
Just be patient.

I've been needing to build a new winxp disc for awhile, anyone know if theres an update due soon?
I ask because I used onepieces last time and that one suffers from being unable to install .net updates and the onepiece pack doesnt look like it will be updated anytime soon.
So i guess as a side question I should ask, does this update pack suffer from the same issue?
