I have a little problem if i chanage in "qfeUpPck.inf" a registry entry from HKCU to HKU then this registry entry is not getting integrated so are all the registry entrys that come after this one. :(

Code: Select all

HKU,"Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer","FlashPlayerVersion",0x00000000,"%FLASHPPVERSION%~installVector=1"

Why would you change HKCU to HKU, Outbreaker? Which line are you changing? Need more information.

user_hidden has adds this registry entry in "qfeUpPck.inf":

Code: Select all

HKCU,"Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer","FlashPlayerVersion",0x00000000,"%FLASHPVERSION%"
But the Official Flash Player installer is adding this registry entry:

Code: Select all

HKU,"Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer","FlashPlayerVersion",0x00000000,"%FLASHPPVERSION%~installVector=1"
That's way i want to change it. ;)

Need to see what you have for [ExtraFileEdits]. The problem seems to be there.

Have your results changed? "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" = "HKCU".

The [ExtraFileEdits] entry is:

Code: Select all

qfeUpPck.inf|HKCU,"SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer","FlashPlayerVersion",0,"%FLASHPVERSION%"|HKU,"Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer","FlashPlayerVersion",0x00000000,"%FLASHPPVERSION%~installVector=1"|1
And the result in the "qfeUpPck.inf" file afterwards will be:

Code: Select all

HKU,"Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer","FlashPlayerVersion",0x00000000,"%FLASHPPVERSION%~installVector=1"
The official Flash install adds this registry entries:

Code: Select all

[HKEY_USER\Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer]
 "FlashPlayerVersion"="12.0.0.43~installVector=1"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer]
 "FlashPlayerVersion"="12.0.0.43~installVector=1"
Or is it not possible to add a default registry entry for all the new user accounts?

That's what HKU\.DEFAULT is for. But it seems unnecessary in this case since the Flash Player version is likely to change every month. HKCU should be good enough.

Have you added FLASHPPVERSION to the [Strings] section of qfeUpPck.inf?

Thanks i try it with "HKU\.DEFAULT"
And the "FLASHPPVERSION" String is also already added and working. ;)

Okay in tried it with "HKU\.DEFAULT" 2 times but it's still not working and has the same effect as "HKU". I don't see what else i could try.

[EDIT]
I took a look at some inf files and i saw that i did it wrong.
I should have done:

Code: Select all

HKU,".DEFAULT\Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer","FlashPlayerVersion",0x00000000,"%FLASHPPVERSION%~installVector=1"
And not:

Code: Select all

HKU\DEFAULT."Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer","FlashPlayerVersion",0x00000000,"%FLASHPPVERSION%~installVector=1"
[/EDIT]

Okay i finally finished this Flash Player Plugin addon, everthing is working fine the only little problem i have is that the file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil32_12_0_0_38_ActiveX.exe" is not getting deleted when uninstalling the Flash Player ActiveX. But beside that everything is looking to work like it should.

Just installed UpdatePack_20140114 and see the following in
setuperr.log:

Code: Select all

Error:
Setup detected that the system file named [c:\windows\system32\wintrust.dll] is
by Microsoft. This file could not be restored to the correct Microsoft version.
Use the SFC utility to verify the integrity of the file.

***
This looks like it might be a problem with KB2749655. Anyone else seeing this on XP or know what the problem might be?

edit: even though I see KB2749655 entries in qfeUpPck.inf, I can't find it when I scan the registry after installation. It did
not show up in QFECHECk either.

I found out what the problem was:
1. The KB2749655.cat file was missing in the UpdatePack folder "svcpack".
2. At the qfeUpPck.inf file the ",KB2749655" entry was missing under "[QFEUpdatePack]" -> "AddReg".
Here is the UpdatePack with the KB2749655 fix:

Thanks for the update.

@u_h
just cosmetics, but the cats for KB2653956 and KB2440591 were
not removed from svcpack and the AddReg entry for KB2653956
is still present in QfeUpPck.inf

I have a question how should i integrate the KB2878379-v2 HotFix in this UpdatePack?
If i extract the HotFix i have 2 dpcdll.dll files in 2 folder different folders on in "ic" and one in "ip", which one should i replace with the one that is in the UpdatePack "home" folder?
Extracted KB2878379-v2 HotFix: http://www.sendspace.com/file/w3yj0y
user_hidden it would be good if you could integrate this HotFix or give my a step by step tutorial on how to do this the correct way, because this HotFix is more complicated to integrate into the UpdatePack.

Changelog:
* XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20140114_Fix1:
1. Added missing "KB2749655.cat" file into the "svcpack" folder.
2. Added missing ",KB2749655" entry into the file "QfeUpPck.inf " under "[QFEUpdatePack]" -> "AddReg".
* XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20140114_R2:
1. Removed leftover files "KB2440591.cat" and "KB2653956.cat" from the "svcpack" folder.
2. Removed leftover ", KB2653956" entry from the file "QfeUpPck.inf " under "[QFEUpdatePack]" -> "AddReg".
3. Added HotFix KB2832214 replaced KB2655992.

dpcdll.dll and ipmntdpc.dll are the same file, the dpcdll.dll in \ic will only install on windows xp home and \ip will only install on xp pro retail (I think) but not in vlk

Ok that makes more sense. But should i add the \ip "dpcdll.dll" file to the UpdatePack despite it did not install on my WinXP-Pro?

do not try and update my pack if you are unclear on how things work.

the updates are NOT pressing and will be released in a new release when I have time.

No, it will cause your serial to stop working...if the installer did not add it, its for a good reason

In my Spanish updatepack I only add the dll to the home folder, the pro I leave it out

I don't know if the DllCache is need i added them because user_hidden has added them for the other HotFixes too.
But the "BuildDate" entry should be "Wed Sep 04 03:23:17 2013" that's the ic/dpcdll.dll file the other one is for the "ip/dpcdll.dll" file, and "KB2838379P" should be "KB2878379P". ;-)

Please,
I am living in Spain now...therfore I would like to switch from english to spanish interface for windows xp...I am living with native spanish people so
Which is the best way to do that ?

From what I know the MUI XP Pack installs very old libraries dated from 2001, so it will overwrite the latest english files installed through the current U_H update pack.
Does it worth to use this method of changing the language from english to spanish...or should I seek for the spanish version of both...the XP iso source ...and some spanish update pack similar to this ?
Thanks!

dllchache I only use if the file is NOT being used on the system.

as for the 3 or 7 in the xphome.inf it's of no issue as I did it on purpose.
the inf will run and call the correct code section.

Did you used the "ip/dpcdll.dll" BuildDate instead of the "ic/dpcdll.dll" BuildDate in the "xphome.inf" file also on purpose? :)

@ricktendo64:

I can't: Outbreaker crossed "merely bug reporting" by publishing "corrected"
XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack!

You should re-read some topic posts! And what's wrong with fixing an Addon? It's not like doing it makes you dumber. :D

Thanks!
Thanks guys!
i finally found the best way to continue making the xp on english and change the language in a matter of seconds in any of the 28 languages a custom made app from "Egy-Mor Team" does...spanish language included
without even logging off the xp !! :)

@vodacuza, Where did you find a link to the "Egy-Mor Team" language pack app? And where is their home page? All I seemed to find were non-working links from 2009.

Cheers and Regards

Yeah, I saw that. But for an app, I want to see where the developer hangs his hat. And just because a torrent file was uploaded recently doesn't mean the app itself still doesn't date back to 2009. I try to be as careful as I can about using any app or downloading anything from somewhere or someone I don't know.

Cheers and Regards

esta aqui :D :
http://programasutilidadesyjuegosparapc ... iomas.html
it has a descriptive youtube video also...
and I will reedit this very post to share a link where i will upload the same app as a mirror link
It is awesome...i change the language from english to spanish...to romanian or franch in no time ! it has 28 languages
it seems that egy mor team ceased to exist ...something somehow natural if we think about our xp age :D
I hope u_h does not mind if we shared this here

reedit:
I just red the above post...yes it is that app from that torrent posted above

@bphlpt ...I am a security maniac also..I launch portable versions of superantispyware pro, malawarebytes, spy hunter and also combofix, adwcleaner, JRT and others sometimes more than once a day...there is no alert rised by them...and everything behaves just normally

Thank you. You might want to make sure that harkaz knows about this. He might find it a useful option for his project - Starting a Windows XP Service Pack 4 Project.

Cheers and Regards

Can't seem to find the download for KB927374. Is it just a new Expand.exe with related files, or is there more to it?

Thanks. :) Somehow I forgot to check that. Been preoccupied all day today. A newer version is available in KB2533552 if you're interested. Same files used in an addon of mine. However, at least one WMP11 addon includes the same older version of the file from KB927374, so the newer file would be overwritten without some winnt.sif trickery when slipstreamed with RVMi. Same can be said whenever boooggy's WMP11 Slipstreamer is used, because it's included as part of the WMP11 installer.

I would like to make an addon for my native language. According to the quote of yours do I remove both KB2898785 and KB2719985 from the folder with the updates or only the KB2719985? Thanks in advance.
