For everyone's info - This is from the
KB3013455 link in the changlelog:
Code: Select all
Known issues with this security update
After you install security update 3013455, you may notice some text quality degradation in certain scenarios. The problem only occurs on systems that are running Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP2. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.
It is affecting my system so much that I can hardly read the words in the above "code" box. A quick Googling shows that I am not alone.

There's some talk about it on MSFN as well. I wouldn't include it, except it fixes a publicly disclosed vulnerability.
I plan to release an updated POSReady addon when a revised update is available. Until then, here's an addon to rollback win32k.sys to the legible yet vulnerable version for those interested.

What does this mean? "Removed Adobe Flash v16.0.0.305 due to inclusion in update pack 20150210."

Just to clarify, I wasn't insinuating that it should not be included. It just took me a while to figure out what happened to my fonts and wanted to save others the investigative trouble.
As bad as some fonts look, I'm just going to put up with them until a fix is released rather than doing a roll back.

Does anyone still remember the KB2926765 bug that breaks the option on Windows XP to change the "Internet" and "E-mail" item on the Start menu?
I'm still wating for Microsoft to fix this sense May 2014.

I'll refrain from deploying it on the machines I administer.
The worse part of it is that those updates are cumulative, so probably even the next win32k.sys will also be a problem, unless MS explicitly states it has been fixed... which ought to happen... eventually.

I think it isn't so hard to enter "
kb3020338" in the top right search box and then choosing the Update language.

will it 'kill you' to get off of your HIGH HORSE against IE to use it for ONE download?
i don't "have" ie iether, but good grief, it doesn't 'kill me' to keep it in a VirtualBox so that i can download "stuff" that requires it...
same goes for Google's POS Chrome, some times it is the ONLY browser that will download from various sites...
but i digress...

And the instructions for it's use, on an
English system are posted on the next page:
bluebolt wrote: -Download the zip file from post 295 into a new folder on your desktop
-Extract the zip file there
-Open the “Update” folder and double-click “update.reg” then double-click “update.exe”
-Allow the reboot, and KB3013455 should be rectified
Here is the link for the update, reposted here for convenience -

And here's an addon for use with POSReady addon v20150210. It includes harkaz's CA root certificate to validate the CAT file.
Download:
- Note: This third-party hotfix has been superseded by KB3034344 in POSReady addon v20150310.

Does this mean slipstreaming has to be done with
(a) Two separate invocations (runs) of "RyanVM Integrator 1.6.1b2.1"? OR
(b) Simply keeping this AddonPack as the last item in the [AddonPacks] section entry of "integrator.ini" file, is enough.
(a) OR (b) ?

Almost (b). The [AddonPacks] section I use to test YumeYao's IE8 NoSetupError addon is posted below. It has always worked for me.
Code: Select all
[AddonPacks]
5er_WGAN_Addon_v1.9.42.0.7z=D:\Sources\_Addons\x86
;XPSP3_QFE_EnablePOSReadyMU_Addon.7z=D:\Sources\_Addons\x86
XPSP3_QFE_POSReady_Addon_20150310_5er.7z=D:\Sources\_Addons\x86
YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Nosetuperr_ENU_1.5.5.7z=D:\Sources\_Addons\x86
This month's addons are not ready yet, despite the code I've posted above.

Nine updates so far, including
a time zone update.

Updated to 20150310. Please read the
Changelog for full details.
Microsoft has three problems to tend to regarding the Microsoft Update website. The first is its bad certificate; there's no way to make it work properly. Second, the 0x80248015 error completely breaks the website. It is necessary to change the system date to 2014-11-16 to access it. And finally, the site
fails to detect that
KB3033395 is installed under Win2003x64. This last I believe is a problem with the update--it's missing the uniprocessor kernel file "ntoskrnl.exe".

Thanks 5eraph,
Can this update pack + user_hidden's one (10-mar-2015), integrate in WinXP SP3 with XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20140408 ? or should I use XPSP3 RTM ?

I would recommend XPSP3 RTM. Very few here have ever made packs that were intended to integrate cleanly over older packs.

Thanks 5eraph,
In respect of the 0x80248015 Error preventing access to Microsoft Update, this can be rectified by reverting MUWeb.dll v7.6.7600.257 back to r256, which is what we did back in November 2014 when the same problem arose.
Two days ago I tried to access MU with an installation of XP made on February 23 2015 ( integrated with user_hidden's February update pack and your POSReady and MU addons ) only to get the error. Yet on February 23 I was able to gain access with the same installation ( which had the r257 version of MUWeb.dll )and perform a successful custom scan.
5eraph wrote:Updated to 20141121:
The above quote is from your post of November 19 2014.
I reverted the above XP installation back to r256 yesterday and gained full access to MU.

You're welcome.
Good to know. If it happens again I'll consider going back to r256 permanently in my releases. But I haven't seen 0x80248015 since yesterday. Checked r257 just now with XPx64, XPx86 and 2003x64. The
KB3033395 problem in 2003x64 persists, however.

The original WMP11 installer for XPx86 released on 2006-10-30 requires the older updates. The updated installer Microsoft released on 2010-06-22 needs only those you've listed, moataz.
WMP11 for XPx64 was released 2008-10-15. Its installer was never updated by Microsoft, and also needs the older updates.

Does this just add the latest POSReady stuff or does it add the POSReady hack as well? I would like to avoid the registry hack and just get the updates integrated up to this point.

Correct. To verify installation:
- Press WindowsKey+R and type "certmgr.msc".
- Expand "Untrusted Certificates," then click Certificates.
- Scroll to the bottom of the certificates list and find the following:
- "www.live.fi" issued by "COMODO RSA Domain Validation Secure Server CA"

Thank you 5eraph for your work. If this add-on used with Onepiece's Windows XP Post-SP3 All-in-One QFE/LDR En-US Update Pack using nlite; is there any problem?
If possible, could you make one for OnePiece version ??

Are these POS 2009 updates the same ones that companies get who continue to pay Microsoft for XP support (like the NHS in the UK). Or do they get other updates that never see the light of day on the internet.

I don't know, vioplujjnsjzfg. If these are the same updates then I'd think Microsoft wouldn't want us to know about it as it would affect their bottom line. Until we hear from a company or country that pays those support costs, we may never know.
