Yes it is. If you're not seeing it, it's a problem on your end.

(And posting in my forums and PMing on MSFN is very annoying. Pick one form or another).

EDIT: And clearly it is for at least one person

Hi Ryan,

I've tested the Full 1.2.2 update pack on Windows XP Home OEM (UK Release) and so far no problems have been seen.

This was tested on a real PC, not a virtual one and QFECheck reports all hotfixes are installed.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards

Simon

1.2.2 is appearing to be the smoothest release yet so far :)

Post by smc1979 » Sat May 14, 2005 6:25 pm

I installed your 1.2.2 pack and installed it on a computer. works great but one problem. When I view a network share drwatson shows up in the processes and closes every single window that is open to any share. I installed an older version with pack 1.2 and it doesnt have the problem. Also if I right click on a open share it locks up that window. If I kil drwatson the window closes. Like I said this doesnt happen with a prev. version of your pack. ONLY 1.2.2

Thank god I'm not the only one. I have this problem too, and am trying to find the culprit. Didn't have the problem in 1.2.1 either.

I'm betting it's the updated mrxsmb.sys that's the culprit. If one of you feels like experimenting, try putting the 1.2.1 version back in and see if the problem goes away (ignoring the QFECheck messages of course)

I am getting a similar problem I think. I did a clean install (slipstream with 1.2.2 using Nlite) when I view a network share and attempt to access a file I get the following error box - Explorer.EXE Application Error The instruction at "0x62c38167 referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read" I did what Ryan suggested and replaced mrxsmb.sys with the previous 1.2.1 version. That made no difference to the problem. I removed DR Watson with Nlite so I may be getting a slightly different message. Both networks have the same version of Ryan's pack 1.2.2 and the same error message.

Has anyone tried without nlite, I would like to see can I help or is it hotfix issue (which I doubt).

Yes, I've had the same problem without nLite. Sorry nuhi, but I prefer manual integration. Haven't got time today to test putting the old version back for you sorry Ryan, but if nobody's posted here tomorrow, I will give it a try for you...

If we can figure out which hotfix is causing it, I can get in touch with MS and see what we can figure out for a solution. Probably a new hotfix :P

EDIT: BTW, I can reproduce the problem, and I think I know which file is causing it. Try replacing the 1.2.2 version of twext.dll with the 1.2.1 version.

EDIT2: I'm trying out an ISO with the different twext.dll right now. If anyone else wants to try it, get it here.

EDIT3: Using the older twext.dll seems to fix it for me. I'll email MS and see if we can get the ball rolling for a fix.

Ryan, I can confirm that replacing twext.dl_ on my install fixes the problem, and I can browse shares again. Will you just submit a patch dropping KB895536 for the time being?

I have the reg tweak for registering and unregistering DLL's on my right click...

Unregistering twext.dll seem to have done the trick.

EDIT...PS, I thought maybe XPize might have had something to do with this but there's no icons in this file.

EDIT2...We're not the only ones seeing this... check this out...

Plus the fact that I don't use XPize...

But yeah, I've emailed MS from the same account that I requested the hotfix from, so we'll see what comes of it.

Thanks Ryan, I'm getting it too on a SP0 install with manual integration of SP2 and RyanVM122 FullPack.
Can run the Win network wiz but says "an error occurred during setup". When browsing network shares, PC locks up.

I used nLite 0.99.9 beta and your full pack 1.2.2 to make a Windows XP SP2 + Post-SP2 CD. I noticed that "KB893803 - Windows Installer 3.1" is in 1.2.2, however, it popped up @ WU today...? Qfecheck reports all hotfixes installed properly.

Yeah. The only caveat for the time being is that QFECheck will complain about KB895536. I've been a bit busy lately, but I still am planning on making a small update which will have a properly set up INF for the job.

twext.dl_ version 2606 has problems with UPnP ....

I use UPnP to get MSN Messenger running without having to setup rules in my Draytek (witch supports UPnP perfectly) ...

It's the CAT file that has to be changed also ...

Well, the CAT file is just for Windows File Protection. In your case, I'd say it's best to just use the standard SP2 (build 2180) version of the file for the time being.

OK, as promised, here is the mini-update. It weighs in at about 860K and includes the updated msi.dll and reverts twext.dll back to the version from 1.2.1. Just extract the RAR to i386 after installing the update pack like normal.

Assuming you used the Medium or Full pack (it's not in Lite), it's qfecheck.exe, not qfe.exe.

Do you add an entry to sysoc.inf? I usually do this manually, otherwise I have problems.

i did it once again but still same ,ur pack things arent there in windows\system32.
If it's not there, then the INF isn't executing properly (and I'm betting that's not the only problem you're having)

Do you add an entry to sysoc.inf? I usually do this manually, otherwise I have problems.
__integrate.exe copies over a pre-modded sysoc.inf when it runs.
