Unable to get setup to work
I tried a bare bones XPSP2 with no addons. Nothing but SP2 and these files and the setup at the very beginning is telling me the ".sif file is missing componenets" or something similar. [winntdirectories] is missing or something. Any ideas???
What are "These" files? If you mean all of the removal addons I am not suprised. You should be careful with removing things and know what you are removing before doing so. As I allways say... use less addons and try to narrow down to the one causeing a problem. That way we can look into the one causeing an issue and see if it can be modified to work.

remove unneeded componenets.
These files are referring to the component removal files. I am stepping through slowly now incrementally to see what is jamming the install. I can list what components files I am removing if needed.
Re: Unable to get setup to work
I made a really lots try with this remove addons. Now when the new Integrator 1.3 is out you have this error message, becouse this remove addons must to be fixed .The big problem with remove addons is,becouse you don't know which one made a trouble and you must add it one by one.ual747-400 wrote:I tried a bare bones XPSP2 with no addons. I just hope that someone like Zacam take a hands on it and fix it.
Keytotime is made a great work in start with remove addons, but he sad many times that now not have time for it anymore,so we need the other expert to look at it.

its caused by delete addons that remove lines in winntdirectories but can sometimes cause problems with integrator[winntdirectories] is missing or something. Any ideas???
to avoid this problem try EDIT : without those lines marked to b removed

Remove unneded Networking components??
Can you explain this? I am unfamiliar with messing with the files directly if that is what you are referring to.
noI am unfamiliar with messing with the files directly if that is what you are referring to

and as a quick fix i give u a link to overview them or use them : these files are the same as in the main post
but modified to avoid the same problem
I'm also working my way through each of the removal addons. It's a pain, especially since I insist on testing each and every one of them individually and then collectively. Then I'll have to get into using them in conjunction with update packs.
ENU_user did explain correctly that the problem is being caused by how the original removal addons didn't track that other sections of windows might be dependant on some of the information being removed......like removing the directory delcaration from the TXTSETUP.SIF file that may be needed for other components not releated to what was removed. IMO, removal addons should only remove files (where there is no dependancy on those files outside of the component being removed) or remove/edit sections of INF's releating to the component being removed (subject of course to the same question of dependancy) and where possible such removal should alter the main setup charactaristics of windows setup as minimally as possible.
Removing what _files_ are listed in txtsetup.sif is one thing. Removing directory delcarations is another and the latter should not have been done.

sorry to post that, but I have error during install with File and Transfer Wizard and the error is:cannot copy migwiz.exe and some inf files
Could you make a few more remove program update packs
I want you to make a
Workstation Removal Update Pack
, Computer Browser Removal Update Pack
and Distributed File System, or whatever it's called Removal Update Pack Please!
The reason I need to remove Workstation is because it won't start and because of that I have a message coming up each startup saying "At least one driver or service failed to start... or something like that."
I also get errors in my Event Viewer. I tried to disable all 3 but when I restarted the same errors happened again and the services were not disabled. Since the computer won't obey my commands I want those services removed, or at least to disable them without it renabling itself. If I can't do that can I at least keep it from showing up in the Event Logs.
PS: Be easy on my posts. I really need help with the Workstation problem.
If it should not be here move it, but don't delete my post.

No I want to remove them before install
No I want to remove them before install. I use Virtual PC software to test it and that's why I know. I keep testing it till it's perfect until no problems.Kelsenellenelvian wrote:I think you are really mistaken my friend these packs are for removal of the stuff BEFORE windows is installed. It sounds like you are wanting to remove these things post-install. For that you would want something like XPLite.
So how do I remove the 3 services with the update packs before installation of W2K Adv. Server.

nLite does not remove the 3 services. I checked it. I would not have post here if I removed the 3 components. Of course you can disable the 3 services but Windows sets it back to default then I get the error message again. That's why I want to remove those 3 services.Kelsenellenelvian wrote:use nLite then.

LOL Same here you gotta keep clicking on it and eventually it will go awayBeachcoma wrote:Yes, I used that. The tour program is gone. But the bloody pop-up from the system tray asking me if I want to "take a tour" isn't. That's what's annoying me.
Its like a Phantom, it looks like a exclamation (!) mark or something
I guess it's just one of those things you gotta live with, like the bug in the *.theme file with the hands cursor.
But I remember it disappearing completely when I used nLite a while back. I don't want to use nLite coz it caused a lot of problems for me. I wonder how nLite got rid of it, though.
Edit - I just noticed marzsyndrome's post about the RegTweaks section. Now that's a removal add-on (
I can't get over that oxymoron) that I would like.

To the best of my knowledge, the Integrator is currently designed to be used with Windows XP/2003. I'm not sure that these addons will help if you're applying them to a Windows 2000 source as I believe they're meant to be used with Windows XP exclusively.hyipo wrote:So how do I remove the 3 services with the update packs before installation of W2K Adv. You may want to ask nuhi on the nLite forum if you want to remove these services from W2K. nLite may currently have better support for your OS, hyipo.
remove %systemroot%\system32\mui content
Request to make add-on for the removal it is file, which after installation are placed in %systemroot%\system32\mui !
PS:They indeed are not actually necessary for system without mui installed?

would anyone be interested in making a exe\zip file that contains all these removal items but comes with a selector that u check what u want and it'll extract just those cabs to a folder
this will although make the files size for dl bigger but will keep all the removals files uptodate and will allow to see what all removal cabs are available and its easier than merging the whole lot of them together since the cabs will still be individual
which even though this thread was trying to achieve it seems to have failed as some of the links in the thread are 404 or file doesnt exist

Getting error in msnmsgs.msi
I downloaded the windows messenger delete addon and its not working properly. I get an error message saying that install cannot find the file 'msnmsgs.msi'. By clicking the 'cancel' button it ignores the error and everything keeps going. I know there is a updated version but the link for it is dead now. can someone please reupload the working version or PM me.
Thanx....

multi processor / hyperthreading problems
I've tried long and hard to fix this on my own, including a reinstall of windows, but can't seem to sort out multi processor / hyperthreading problems... windows won't recognize my dual core Athlon X2 or enable hyperthreading on my HT-enabled P 4 machine... I suppose I've never had that enabled because I hadn't checked until recently and noticed windows will only show an ACPI Uniprocessor PC
I _am_ using ENU_Drivers**.cab to remove camera/printer/scanner/display drivers... but unless I did something wrong the same thing occured when I reinstalled _without_ integrating that addon...

Links down or All Removal Packs itself Removed!
Hi everybody.
None of the download links for the Removal Addon Packs works Now.
Can anybody point me to any alternate links.
Or is it that all the Removal packs are removed from distribution
Can any one help?
Thanks & my appreciation for all the forum members, and especially those who made the integrator & addons possible.

Hi everybody.
At least somebody can help me with the entries.ini for a simple addon pack to remove LANG?
I know maybe LANG folder can itself be removed from source-CD. But I want to learn it to do the automatic way using an addon with ryanvm-integrator.
I assume for such a thing the addonpack cab need to contain only a single file entries.ini. Can someone post here the contents rather than the download link which does not work now!
Thanks

All the links are down if someone has these could you rar them all together and upload it on rapidshare or any other upload site also how do i integrate 80% of these and rvm update pack do i have to integrate the update pack first and then keep integrating each addon pack cause that will take me a while
Hi every body
After reviewing the full thread, I realized the original author KTT has long left updating them. Some others have picked up and updated here and there. But nobody has consolidated. I do not know what happened to Zacams effort, which was mentioned here some time past!. Now none of the original links as well as those posted by corrected version by ENU_user (or others) work.
I think it is better some expert here take the initiative & re-consolidate these removal addons, atleast limiting to the safe ones and the more useful ones interms of space saving etc. (of course considering the changes in the integrator, from the time these addons were initially designed).
Btw can ENU_User share his updated addon for Tour Removal, or whoever has that version? Also the Help-Delete-Addon
Thanks & Cheers.
edit: Thnks to proximous & MrNxDmX for your responses.

Hi Zacam Thanks.
But I just hit on another thread by vier
: Delete/Restauration Unneeded Windows Components
It also addresses most of the Removal addons here. Vier's thread is not very long & the English is poor (no offence to vier), but i think the stuff seems to be better, and using the new & advanced features of RVM-Integrator ver > 1.3. At least I saw one post from Siginet commending it.
Zacam (or any other expert) have you seen/ reviewed this?
I just want to know how these removal addons compare with those from KTT here.
Thanks & regards

I personally would go with the post 1.3 for simplicity and efficiency since 1.3 introduced a lot more flexibility in the functionality. I'm working out some 1.4's at the moment, but I'm not releasing until they go through extensive alpha testing and then I'll make available for dedicated beta and then final releases.
Most of the process will be taken up with the alpha testing since I have to run various systems through various tasks repetitively to make sure it's only doing what it's intended to do.

Can somebody clarify the functionality of
[oboslete_entries] in Entries_.ini file?
It looks like all the corresponding entries in dosnet.inf & txtsetup.sif is removed, while retaining (NOT deleting) the files as such in i386.
Can some expert confirm?
Vier seems to use these extensively in his removal addons, even though these are not documented by siginet/ryanvm anywhere, atleast i could not find anywhere. Can someone point to good documentation regarding entries.ini?

I'm sure you've seen Siginet's sticky thread for Defining Entries.ini. It's currently the only known reference.
You are correct. Information about [obsolete_entries] and other sections is currently missing.

I have some questions on these Driver removal Packs.ENU_user wrote:it has "updatepack" name in it so you can use it as an updatepack to enable driver cab to expand and remove files from it
or you can use it as a simple "Addon" when integrating an updatepack.
1. Are they compatible with the latest updatepacks & integrator?
2. Does the printer driver completely remove all existing printer drivers from driver/sp2.cab, or they leave some minimal drivers there?
3. If I slipstream latest BST driverpack, after this removal, will I get any errors?
4. Are these breaking anything currently? I want some user feedback also?
Thanks..
