Agreed.Siginet wrote:Dude... joking about viruses on a site like this is not funny. 2.1.9 would be out in approximately 3 weeks. We release just after microsoft releases new hotfixes. So if you are thinking there are so many releases because the UpdatePack is buggy... you're strongly mistaken. It's been pretty bug free for quite a long time now.
I dont see any virus here, also dont remember any buggy update pack till a looong time.
Thanks for another complete release.

HI. Great work your doing with your update packs and the integrator.I've been doing integrations since november and everything went fine until today. I still dont know what update pack is cousing this cause i havent tested every update pack individualy but I will soon. The instalation is telling me there's missing files in the XP CD(Virtual PC 2007, Also installed vista with it and everything went fine). The files are the following:
rio8drv.sys
riodrv.sys
tosdvd.sys
paqsp.dll
modem.sys
swenum.sys
pjlmon.dll
mssmbios.sys
pid.dll
sonydcam.sys
stream.sys
After that it follows with a stop error:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
sTOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000014, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x808244c6)
The order of my integrations is:
RVMUpdatePack2.1.8.7z
RVMAddonsWGAN_1.7.18.1.7z
RVMAddonsDX9_1.2.7z
wmp11slips0.6i.exe
NR_IE7en_Addon_1.0.2.7z
Everything downloaded yesterday and MD5 checked with digestIT 2004. I integrated the packs in that order closing the integrator after every pack, then build the iso with magicISO as always.
The integrator tells me everything went fine. I dont know what else to do. I hope someone find the problem. I'm thinking it could be the IE7 pack and the 2.8.7 update pack not being compatible.

The "missing" files indicate to me that you've got a corrupted driver.cab. I'd start there if I were you.

Hi Guys, I have integrated the latest RMVUpdatepack2.1.8.7 + dotnet3fx_addon with a few other things... All goes very well. Windows install itself without any error. But when I go to WU and try to install .Net 3.0 (KB928416) the installation fail.
Here is the log it give me:
It also open a web page to Microsoft site for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Redistributable Package. So I try donwloading the X86 Redist Package called dotnetfx3.exe (50mb) and tried to install. This time the installation worked without error or problem.
Here is the Complete list of packages being integrated:
The test was done in VWare 5.5.3.
A special thanks to RyanVM, Siginet, Vier, Roguespear, Kelsenellenelvian, DumpyDooby, Ricktendo, MrNxDmX, Jondar and Mrs. Peel for their great release. Keep doing great job!

A clean Original XP with SP2 Slipstreamed as always. I have an idea, I'll try to do the integrations in my server to see of there was a problem with my last integration (Installed in this pc) that could be causing problems now. Ill give a report back to see if the problem is solved on wednesday...mr_smartepants wrote:Are you integrating over a 'clean' or 'dirty' source?
Try burning your CD at a slower speed **edit** disregard, just noticed you used VPC2k7.

MCE2005 Problem
Hi I've tryied to integrate your pack in an Media Center 2005 using the slipstreamer (not nlite ). It ask for the Components folder and then start the integration. It install well - no erors, but I get no Media Center and MCE aplications. They are displayed in Add/Remove Windows Components, but even check or uncheck the option - they are not installed. More - the eHome folder is present but contains only one file.
Strange as for XP Pro I have no problems.

OK, Early report. It seems that my last (2.1.7, Installed in this machine) integration got wrong because I did the integration again in my server to see if it works now and guess what, no errors. What do you think could be the culprit? It is corrupting the cabs. Well, I’m going to reinstall my windows then try to do the same integration again to see if it works. At lest it is working now in VPC2007, let’s see how this behave in real hardware. Keep the good work Ryan, this works perfectly now.
Thanks for the help and for pointing me in the right direction about the corrupted cabs. I still find strange that the integration didn’t give me errors about the corrupted cabs.
PS.
An Admin friend I have is asking me how I can come up with an updated Windows XP with WMP11 and IE7 CD and I tell him he has to study a little more to start learning this stuff. Maybe I’ll tell him next week about this page; meanwhile I’ll keep bothering him he needs to have advanced PC knowledge to do this.
SQL Server 2005
FYI, the new update pack (with nLite 1.3.0.4) also causes setup failures in SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition... other editions probably affected but I didn't test them. I verified the problem by reverting to the 2.1.7 update pack (with nLite 1.3.0.4) and SQL Server installs without incident. I suspect that MSXML 6 SP1 is the problem, but I don't know how to remove/test it. Just thought you should know (if you didn't already).

Did you try using the addon in the first post? That would answer your question pretty fast...

I thought the addon from the first post was for .NET Framework 3.0... but apparently it works for SQL Server 2005 too (what exactly does it do?). Anyway, I applied the addon to the install and everything works fine now. Thanks for the quick response.RyanVM wrote:Did you try using the addon in the first post? It removes some registry entries I really shouldn't have added in the first place.

Hi Ryan!
First your pack is great! But I think that you need to exclude from your pack patch that upgrades Windows Update to Microsoft update! I have Windows Update, and I opened it, and on page is used to be banner for installation of Microsoft update, but not anymore and I think Microsoft stoped offering instalation of it. Also, I sow on some forums that Microsoft update have some bug, that causes 100% CPU with svchost.exe process! This also happend to my frined, who was using Microsoft update, and as soon as she connect to Internet her computer became so slow (because of hi cpu), that you cant do anything exept "hard" restart! So to check is Microsoft update causes problem, I disabled Automatic updates service, and everything was perfect, so I reverted back to Windows update and everthing is fine now!!!

Office 2000/XP/2003/2007 Slipstreamer: http://www.msfn.org/board/Office-2000-X ... 21357.html
2.1.8 includes the patch for msi.dll which supposedly helps alleviate the 100% CPU issue. Also, I'm pretty sure MU removal addons exist on this forum already.

Hmm 100% CPU problem.. is that caused by svchost.exe?Skram wrote:I've seen that 100% CPU issue on a lot of comps. Especially HPs. I just go to the MU settings and disable it for the problem comps. I didn't notice any delay on two 2.1.8 comps though. Hopefully that's fixed.
It's going to be like that for a while, Windows is running the update engine to check whether u have the latest patches or not and after a while 100% CPU will disappear.

svchost.exe takes a lot of uninformed heat for cpu usage.
svchost.exe is (mostly) a 'host' (duh) for miscellaneous system processes that for various reasons are not their own 'service'. The processes are called and started via svchost.exe and one of the startup parameters is the relative CPU priority a process should be started at.
If that startup priority is set too high, either deliberately or by accident, then your CPU gets maxed out quite easily.
A lot of the so-called 'fixes' to svchost.exe are nothing more than refinements to process definition and startup parameters. Since MSFT 'owns' svchost.exe, it should be easy to deduce which way to point the fingers.
Using something like sysinternals process monitor/explorer (both recently updated) or even prio.exe (also recently updated) from prnwatch.com, it's very easy to look into the background processes in each instance of svchost.exe and decide for yourself if they are even necessary and if they are, to determine if they are running at a too-high cpu priority.
svchost.exe is (mostly) a 'host' (duh) for miscellaneous system processes that for various reasons are not their own 'service'. The processes are called and started via svchost.exe and one of the startup parameters is the relative CPU priority a process should be started at.

ryan! do you update the former updatepack you keep on the tracker to a ( stabilized pack ) like if and when their are found issues with it ..
what i mean is .. when the new hotfixes are released and we find later that they are buggy .etc. or something wrong found in the pack ( knock on wood )
you may have fixed some of the issue's had on former pack in a newer pack but with new hotfixes added aswell you cannot know what to expect
not knowing how these will work in the longer run as they are due to change in the following month anyways, as are maintained by wu.
and finally this is how it works
so you got one stable not so far behind pack that can be downloaded and used as an error proof pack but not updated fully and so only few hotfixes left to install on wu no biggi ..

No, I don't update previous releases. I don't even personally seed them.

Unless my ISP recently changed to tm.net.my (speaking of which, they're one of the hosts that's notorious for slamming my server after every release), I assure you he and I aren't at all the same.

I know you dont want mirrors but what about if I offer a mirror that you in control off? sponsored link.RyanVM wrote:You can thank the asshats sending thousands upon thousands of requests at my server all at the same time. I maintain a rather large .htaccess block list as they pop up, but it's extremely difficult to stay on top of it. I'm going to have to resort to using the torrent tracker as the primary distribution method for the first few days I think. Dreamhost is getting rather pissed at me because my site is constantly bringing down the server it's hosted on.Protagonist. wrote:Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
I would say you're crazy for wishing that kind of punishment on yourself. That said, I already have two mirrors available to me should I need them. But I don't see the point since that just means the attack would shift to a different server. Big whoop.
