Does VAIO stand for 'Vista All-In-One'?
Duh!! I thought it was the same as Sony's VAIO brand pc's.

hello ricktendo, i had just finished installing my newly created windows xpcd. however, i see this error dialog whenever i try to load the rtm sidebar...
Sorry. This application attempted to delay-load a library or function that does not exist. Instabiliy may occur.
the sidebar is nowhere on the screen after clicking OK (the only button on the dialog box).
can u help me? i really like this addon. i know i downloaded all the required additional addons per your instructions. or did some other addon conflicted w/ this one? i really don't know.
tnx.

see
http://www.fromvistatoxp.com/
We are still working on Preview Build 3 as previously reported. We are currently investigating the use of a new “compatibility shim”, some code that’ll sit on-top of the Windows Loader and provide support for Windows Vista application patching/execution. More on that later.

I'm only waiting on VAIO b3 to come out to update this one...
Minor changes will be:
Removed the quicklaunch shortcut (tell me what you think about this move)
The addon will be compatible with both XP and 2k3 (hopefully if the ATL.DLL error is fixed)
Updates to some gadgets (Added a couple new ones also)
And improved INF uninstall with Yes, No, OK Prompt box
BTW the compatibility shim was an April Fools prank by Zoronax

I would like to put on a suggestion , ricktendo64. You do this if u want to and if u have time.
-u could create a sidebar addon without gadgets
-then create gadgets adder addon that people could run like the gadgets setting addon and it will take all the gadgets currently installed on ur pc and create a new addon with it
-u could also create a gadgets addon that will have all the standards gadgets for people who do not want to create the addon themselves
So in nlite, people could integrate it like:
-vista rtm font addon
-vaio addon
-vista rtm sidebar addon without gadgets
-gadgets adder addon (standard or personally created)
-gadget installer
-my sidebar gadgets settings addon
Thanks

The auto Gadgets AddOn maker would be really tough to make in INF form... But a SFX addon would be super easy.
I been thinking on making the sidebar addon simpler with only the standard gadgets that come with Vista. I think Im gonna keep making the Sidebar with my Favorite gadgets but maybe on the side Ill have a clean one along with a WinRAR SFX that you can simply drag and drop the gadgets you want installed into it.
Ill be updating the sidebar addon tomorrow or monday so keep an eye out. I got some new uninstall tricks I learned and some gadgets have been updated

HMMM!!! That is puzzling, are you are using a different lang than english XP?
The WLan API addon is made from the English version of the hotfix
Try re-installing WLan Hotfix from Microsoft and tell me if this fixes it and make sure you are not running any Wireless Sidebar Gadgets cuz they are known to cause the delay load error

I don't know what else you could try
BTW If you are using Ryans Updatepack you don't need to include the Wlan API hotfix AddOn, its alredy included in 2.1.8
All I can think of is to uninstall it then reinstall it
EDIT: Wha'd you use to integrate it, nLite or RVM Int?

I installed Windows XP SP2 with RyanVM UpdatePack integrated with nLite (i tryed first with the Integrator, but it didn't work,in the way that the addons and the pack were not installed after installing Windows, so i used nLite, which worked). I installed than VAIO, fonts, IE7, WMP11, dotNET AIO and the Sidebar itself. The result: the same error. Than i decided to install that hotfix, but again didn't worked.
Don't know what to do !

But there's a*inf file . and with right-click and left-click on install, al files needed are copied to the specific destination. More than this, i installed MS hotfix (the link you gave me) and the same problem. I'm working now on a unattended DVD and i'll see what it happends ...

hi rick! i have Wireless LAN API (KB918997 ver 6.0.0) integrated via HFSLIP ... do i still need to use Ricks_WLanAPI-KB918997_AddOn_v3.7z (ver ver 5.1.2600.3024)? i likewise have Ricks_VAIOXP-b2r3.4_AddOn_v1.1 integrated via nLite ... problem is i once in a while get this error:
This application has failed to start because vADVAPI32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. ... would there be any specific order of required addons to prevent this error from coming up? i already had this working well before so i was surprised getting the same error pop-up ...

thanks!

- No. If you use HFSLIP to slip the wlan api hotfix then I guess you don't need the addon also
- The error your getting I think its VAIO... Make sure it was installed and after you install it go into Add/Remove Programs to the Windows Sidebar Uninstaller and hit the Change button (it re-registers the sidebar EXE and DLL files)
- Does not matter what order you integrate the addons, only Windows Sidebar Styler needs to detect dotnet 2.0 or above or else the install will fail, but this is totally unrelated and has nothing to do with your prob

I think the sidebar conflicts with dlink airplus dwl g122 driver. when i install the driver the sidebar couln't start. it say "it delay load some library.....". then i install the wireless lan api "WindowsXP-KB918997-v6-x86-ENU.exe" . The sidebar could then start but dlink monitor couldn't by displaying some message like "the entry point apInitialiaze couln't be located in the dll wlanapi.dll"
thanks

thanks rick for the confirmation ... i maybe wrong but i simply changed the order of integration of all your Sidebar addons + required addons via nLite and it worked great ... set sidebar 1st then followed by VAIO, then fonts + sidebar games + gadget installer ... voila! sidebar working again ... thanks for the tip about re-registering it via add/remove programs ...

thanks!

As you probably noticed, ZoRoNaX and I (along with VAIO) have been extremely quiet. I'm glad to finally be able to inform you that we have officially merged with the guys at
Falling Leaf Systems, LLC. This is awesome as now we have more brains on the project (now called
Alky Compatibility Libraries).
Instead of toying with little games like Solitaire and Texas Hold'Em, we're gunning for Halo 2 and Shadowrun. What's great is if you
order it via our site, we'll throw in the Alky Compatibility Libraries when they're ready for
free. B)
More details when I get them.

Hi Rick. Works fine, but...slideshow has zoom again - no resize, so I have to revert again to the old vshell32.dll AND the most important - I've try to remove it using Add Remove Programs - After clicking Ok when ask about if I want to remove sidebar it has an error:
Error creating process <TASKILL /F /IM sidebar.exe /T> . Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.
I click OK and the Uninstaller stops...

That means you probably removed taskkill.exe from system32 (I use this to make sure the sidebar is closed before uninstall)
You can get rid of this error by putting taskkill.exe in system32 or you can edit that part of the INF file (I recomend getting taskkill, its a vital part of the OS)
The reason I removed vshell32.dll is that I found out that its the OLD one from VAIO b1, the dude that gave me that fix was a total LIAR he said he had fixed it... Its a really really long story but in a nutshell it might work OK for the slideshow but it might break other gadgets so, you can use it untill you experience a prob with a gadget then you just delete it if you do

It is also necessary for my Yahoo switchless installer. If it has been removed then my installer will break unattended installs.

Well, indeed taskkill.exe does not exist on my sistem, but I didn't remove it. It does not exist even on the ORIGINAL MS instalation CD, so it's hard to believe it should be installed considering this. Could be because I have Windows XP Home Edition and not Professional ?
About vshell32 I know the problem, I was the first telling on Aeroexperince VAIO thread that the old vshell32 could be used like an fix for the zooming. Seems that this "fix" for some works fine ( my case ), but some have experienced problems.

Hmm, so if the Sidebar plugin use it, I think it should include it to run corectly on both Pro and Home versions... Or to be added as a separate prerequisite plugin ?

@Rick
Yesterday I try using your sidebar, I found a simple bug. When I right click in the taskbar icon of Sidebar, it open the taskbar context menu aswell. Then it will leave a small artifact in the taskbar. Anyone had experience it too?
I tried it on VM Machine.

Does it fix uninstall for Home version ? (Taskkill.exe)
Pitty you removed the shortcut...

It's "normal". Try to replace vshell32.dll with one from first build of Vaio and see if it works for you...
