Windows XP SP3 Released To Small Group

Post by iuli_kyle » Tue Aug 07, 2007 5:56 am

In addition to the previously reported Windows Vista SP1 drop to testers, Microsoft has just recently (few days ago) dropped a copy of Windows XP Service Pack 3 in the lap of the same small group of testers.

Coming in at less than 350MB, the service pack includes fixes for over 900 reported problems, some of which have already been resolved with post-Service Pack 2 hotfixes.

For the hardcore build string collectors, this build is tagged 5.1.2600.3180 (xpsp.070718-2058) (Thanks again C).

Given the close proximity of the two betas we guestimate both 'packs will be released simultaneously. We'll let you know if we hear of a more solid release date.

That's a great piece of news !

guys, just look at the KB articles quoted in all of the hotfix releases for the past 3 years. Plenty of room there for '900 reported problems'.

Look also on http://www.thehotfix.net/index.php?opti ... 4&Itemid=1 and on http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecy ... packs.mspx.

About IE 7 and WMP 11, i have no idea !

The Pack, found on TheHotfix, named Windows XP SP3, is not the official SP3. I posted the link only for the piece of news, nothing else !

thats kind of a suprise. i figured they would have included them, less software to continue support for (ie6/wmp9-10)

oh well.

Actually, no. SP2 was the first and (probably) last SP to include new features.

I'm not sure if it's legal to post this here...Feel free to delete it if its against any rules !
This is the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Build 3180. Think of it more as a pre-beta build of SP3 than an actuall beta build. Full Build tag is: 5.1.2600.3180 (xpsp.070718-2058)

Install Notes:
- Unpack
- Install Directly or Slipstream into an XP installation CD

If Microsoft wanted this made public then it would be available from MSDN or through a Community Preview. This may not be warez, ronmanp, but I believe Pirate Bay URLs are still inappropriate for this forum. Consider this your only warning.

Hey, don't understand me wrong ... i posted TheHotfix link only for the piece of news from the site, nothing else. And i know that pack, from TheHotfix, is only a pack of hotfixes.

I read on Softpedia that WMP 11 will be included and they will add some kind of support for updating IE .

Links to news are fine, iuli_kyle. You are perfectly within your rights here.

Links or URLs to warez downloads or warez sites are not permitted here, however. I'm sure you know the difference.

Ok, guys, that's quite enough. No links to SP3. Period.
