[Addon] Updates for RVM Update Pack 2.1.11 (R13: 2007-09-06)
FYI, I'm going to be working on 2.1.12 this afternoon (yeah, I know, about time). Is there an overall opinion about WSH5.7? I'm inclined to leave it out for now.

Please, for the love of God leave it out!! 20$ says 5.8 will be out right before the SP's in 2008 (I know it makes so sense for why to leave it out, but that's just my suggestionRyanVM wrote:FYI, I'm going to be working on 2.1.12 this afternoon (yeah, I know, about time). And nice to see you back Ryan, hope your M.A in (?) got you what you wanted.

Good to know your Master degree went well Ryan. Congrats!
IMO, WS 5.7 should be left out as a separate addon.
Will you use the Code's trick to Stubbed the MRT 1.34 or put the original one in the new updatepack?
Also, will you update your DirectX update too?
I'll wait for your updated versions to build my next CD.

I'll probably stick with the non-stubbed MRT. As for DX9, I have no plans to continue updating it. Nico seems to be doing just fine with that.

This may seem trival, but I've noticed that if you go to Display Properties, Desktop Items and Customize, the checkbox to enable Internet Explorer's Icon to be put on the dekstop is missing. You will also notice that it's missing from the Start Menu as well. You can go to Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup, Remove then Add Internet Explorer on the Start Menu gets it back, if you have done an Upgrade Re-install, but not if it was a clean install. It should be in the Registry somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it yet.

Ryan - as most of your Minor releases have been maintained by various people could you perhaps link to them on your main page, as some of them are quite outdated now, just a sugestion to help free up your time to work on the BIG boy.
I've been itching to get news of your next release as some major hotfixes have been added since your previous version and I've had lots of troubles integrating the addon pack alongside the update pack (not troubles with the process, troubles with the end results). . mainly cause by the Fact I use nLite alongside RVM integrator, but the Update packs have never caused me greif. What I am trying to say is I've come to trust your releases as the BEST option (as many have).
Looking foward to hearing your progress after the long break (well not that long, but seams like forever to us
) You fell straight back into fast development or a few bumps holding you up?
I'll not ask the dreaded question but I will say keep us informed
Good to have you back (more concentration to dedicate here) and glad lifes been going well for you Career wise. Hows the love life?

I've got nearly 50 hotfixes and other changed files to integrate since the last release, plus I'm a bit out of practice, so things are progressing slowly at the moment. The bigger issue is that once I get everything in that I've been earmarking over the last 4 months to go in, I need to audit everything to make sure there's nothing else that should be going in as well. Then of course, there's the testing that needs to be done...
We'll see if I get it out before the next patch Tuesday or not
. FWIW, I'll release it whenever it's ready irrespective of the MS patch cycle.

Wow Ryan thanks for the update on your progress with this. I didn't realize it was going to take that long I have been waiting a week to see how things were going with the new update. I have a brand new PC to put together and was going to wait for the new update but I just can't wait any longer so I will use what is available now and check back next month. Thanks again for all your hard work on this and great job on the degree.
Thanks,

I thought that was the case. . . The longer you wait the longer it takes - although it's also the best time to come up with fresh ideas, it's like a time U can give things a fresh look and say (Why did I do it like that?) and change it to a better method.
I am very greatful for your progress report - It helps us all plan around it (although feel free to suprize us any time you want
)
I'll be posting my work as soon as my project is complete, it'll replace the Setup.exe and offer advanced features and replace MS methods for $OEM$ as they are VERY limited and reduce features (like pressing F6 for extra Drivers from Floppy). . I guess some of you might like it but some wont (thats the life of a Modder).
my project is called MyOEM (keep an eye out for it).

My brother got his MS in Math, underscoring an honors-4-Year-in Math and Computer Science in the early '70's from Carleton University here in Ottawa, Ont. Canada. He's rich-I mean FILTHY...rich. So RyanVM, it's all worth it; Engineering
..,.awesome and congradulations...now to get back to the serious stuff...wine, women and song; not necessarily in that order
Just curious, what material/s did you concentrate on in your thesis; just a one-line, in-a-nutshell type answer. There is this new carbon nanotube technology being held up as the new total happiness in chipset cooling; seeded, selfpropagating carbon molecules; OCZ has an engineering sample processor cooler based on this and soon to be released as a retail product...fascinating

Hi Ryan hope things are going well..... I was just wonder if we are going to get a trick or a treat this Halloween night.
Anyways not trying to bug you or rush you I was just wondering how things were going with the new pack and if you needed any tester I am more than willing to test it out before you make it final. I have several systems to test on and I have been testing the the new RVMI beta alot and working with Siginet on problems found in it so when you are ready let me know if you need a tester.
Hope you and your family have a safe and fun Halloween thanks again for all your hard work and I am really looking forward to the next pack.

Little bug discovered on italian side: after Updates for RVM Update, IE icon disappears from desktop.
As found by our sharp mate Kontini, this is triggered by hotfix KB941598.
Anyone has noticed that?

Don't ask for a different configuration of Onepiece's XP AIO Update Pack: use one of the existing vanilla XP UpdatePack with your preferred addons instead

Hi nonno, I have the IE Icon on my desktop, but in desktop setting, the checkbox to set the icon on desktop is no longer there.
I use all the latest update:
RVMUpdatePack2.1.11.7z
RUPUpdates-2.1.11.13-Addon.7z
Mrmxdmx IE7: NR_IE7en_Addon_1.0.6b_alt.7z
and use nlite 1.4 to add KB937143, KB938127, KB939653
Don't know if this is releated to the issue your talking about?

Integrating KB941598 in italian XP, IE Icon is no longer there and it's no more possible to enable it
I've noticed, in the English XP also.nonno fabio wrote:Little bug discovered on italian side: after Updates for RVM Update, IE icon disappears from desktop.

If you still want the hotfix you can go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu OR NewStartPanel and change (or add as DWORD if not present) {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D} to '1' to hide the icon and '0' to show it, then refresh the desktop.
Well, that's the path for English, I dunno if registry paths are localized in other languages.
