I suggest to replace copysend.dll with these two regs taken from Vista

Code: Select all

HKCR,"AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}"
HKCR,"AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}"
@kelsenellenevian
The suggestion is also valid for your pack.

The CopyTo/SendTo registry tweak has issues. Hence the DLL. Seriously, the issue has been known for at least 5 years now...

The following conversation snippet should be enough to explain why, benjamminzIS.
In the beta Update Pack thread, superdupe wrote:hey Ryan... Was the addons pack updated to 1.8.3? or is it still at 2? the thread shows the changelog but the link points to the older verison...
and thanks for the torrent link.... :P
In response, RyanVM wrote:It hasn't been officially updated yet. I was just using it as a placeholder so I wouldn't forget what changed. I'll bump the thread when it's ready (you'll notice I wasn't the one doing it ;))

When Hastab is updated in the pack will it come preconfigured to show at least md5 checksums as I think the default installation doesn't include any checksum data from installing another pack with hashtab 2.x included ie: it took me a couple of minutes to figure out the new layout and manually set which checksums to display. Thanks Ryan.

Thanks for the update - good job.

Have one question; does 1.8.3 negate the need for sKz_RVMAddons_1.8.2.1.7z ?

Thanks again.

If you're behind a software firewall, shut it down temporarily. Otherwise, try Ryan's bittorrent tracker.

Thanks Ryan, this pack is always a must have on my list :) .

Just a quick question about this pack,
is there a way to workaround so that calc.exe and makecab.exe will stiil be signed ?

i know calc had to be changed so it'll open the right help file
but is there any real harm in keeping the original and letting it open calcplus.chm ?

All indications would be yes, since the added files do not appear to directly affect SP3. However, the final say would have to come from Ryan on that issue.

I have bad news with 1.8.3... Integration with SP3 went fine but installation of windows reported numerous errors.. I will try with 1.8.4 again.

Have anyone tried this maybe ?

Just out of interest, Ryan........ what tool do you use to create R_Addons.cab?

When I try to modify addons myself to add updated files for my own use, I just tend to use PowerArchiver. If there's a good freeware alternative out there however (when it comes to CABing), feel free to point me out to it. :)

Breaks SP3 installs?

Post by bryanh » Mon May 05, 2008 3:01 pm

Hi all,

Has anyone gotten this to work with SP3? I assume it will not work. Here is what I get

1) Although my winnt.sif sets the default display to 1024x768, after this addon XP starts in 800x640

2) The items that are supposed to be added are not (no powertoys, not hashtab, etc)

3) The items to be removed are in fact removed

4) IE is gone (IE6) - the icon on the start menu that SHOULD open IE, is now the icon for setting IE settings, and in fact brings up IE settings tab.

Ideas? Or just "This is not for SP3"

Thanks
Bryan

Seems a LOT of things are breaking SP3, or at least SP3 on XP Corp.

This is one of those "things"

UPDATE - it works if you add this first

ryan..
could u pls tell me how do i manually remove "Copy To/Move To Context Menu Shell Extension"?

i prefer using copyto/move to made with tuneup utilities.., coz the one that u gave me in ur past sp2 update pack really annoying me. i can't make a new folder whenever using that copy to/ move to..

i just want to get rid of it..
but forget which one to remove in regedit.. (i don't wanna messing around after fresh install xp). i learned about it in the past.. but sadly, forget how to remove it..

so pls..
tell me how do i remove it in regedit..
or if u kind enough, pls make me the .reg file..

or can i just simply remove "copysend.dll" in ur .7z archive?
i doubt it, coz in "R_Addons.inf", there's

Code: Select all

[DLLs.Register]
11,,CopyToSendTo.dll,1
pls respond my question a.s.a.p..

p.s. i like the rest of it (in that add-on u made), except that "Copy To/Move To Context Menu Shell Extension".

The easiest method to disable it within the addon is to place a semicolon ( ; ) in front of the line to register the DLL, like so:

Code: Select all

[DLLs.Register]
;11,,CopyToSendTo.dll,1
11,,HMTCD.dll,1
Leaving the file in the addon won't hurt anything, but if you want to completely remove it then you'll need to remove (or add semicolons to) the following lines in entries_addons.ini in addition to making the change above.

Code: Select all

d1,copysend.dll

Code: Select all

copysend.dll = 100,,,,,,,2,0,0,CopyToSendTo.dll

Code: Select all

rvmtemp\extracted\copysend.dll
If you want to disable it on a system where the addon has already been used, type the following at a command prompt:

Code: Select all

regsvr32 /u CopyToSendTo.dll

This needs to be stickied in this forum.
Why is this not stickied?

I was unable to find *any* information about what's in the new official Addons pack, until I actually searched this forum for this topic... only to find it was buried. I can't live without this addons pack now ;)

Keep up the great work, but seriously, make the information about what's inside it more accessible from the main pages! :?
