Newbie - XP CD integration order

First off, I've just discovered this wonderful webspace and immediately registered after reading some of the topics discussed - that's just what I need

As the title reads, I'm a newbie reading MSFN's Unattended Guide and - at the same time - using Ryan's Integrator 1.5.3 to upgrade my XP SP2 CD to the latest "version". But I have an IMPORTANT question though:

My original disk is XP SP2. What's the correct order to slipstream latest hotfixes plus SP3, WMP11 and IE7 (both with the latest updates) into a new one? That's the order I use currently:

- RVM 1.5.3 + Update Pack 2.2.4 to update SP2;
- SP3 integration (running "WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe" through Start -> Run with "-s" switch);
- WMP11 using Boogie's slipstreamer (no hotfixes, just the program itself).
- IE7 using MrNxDmx's addon "NR_IE7en_Addon_2.0.4a" containing all hotfixes, as he claims on his Download page;
- RVM 1.5.3 + Update Pack 1.0.2 to update to SP3.
- nLite to add some tweaks and modify some install parameters. No Service Packs or hotfixes are installed at this stage - just some cosmetic retouches!

That's it! I will highly appreciate if someone can guide me in the right direction!

I only just found out that you can integrate addons and also slipstream SP3 using the Integrator so this may be useful for you to know too.
The option to slipstream SP3 is under the File menu of the Integrator and can be done as a stand alone operation or as part of an integration of an update pack, which is a huge time saver. No need to apply the SP2 update pack - follow Signet's order and you won't go far wrong.

FYI Mandarin:
I have had great success using RVMI to call and run boooggy's WMP11 Slipstreamer so I actually do steps 3 and 4 at the same time. Then I either run nLite if I need or I just burn my ISO.

Last but not least I have some SATA/AHCI and other drivers and tweaks I'd like to add/do using

nlite.

What is the best order to do these in?
- Does the updatepack overrule/override the hotfixes from MicroSoft (I got them from Aaron Kelley's site), are they all obsolete if I use 5eraph's updatepack?
- When do I best use the WMP slipstreamer?
- At what stage do I best add the .NET Framework Addon? I already tried many different orders of creating the install-iso, but the .netfx always seems to cause problems during install, any idea on that? The error is during setup at
"Performing final tasks" when I see a red cross error Window called netfx35sp1x64\NetFx30a_x64.msi saying:
Windows cannot find 'netfx35sp1x64\NetFx30a_x64.msi'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click Search.
And it holds install waiting for an [ OK ].

This install will be used company-wide for about 50 desktops/workstations, so it is worth the time/effort.

Almost all of the updates listed on Aaron Kelley's site are either in my update pack or superseded by updates in my pack. The following updates on his site are not currently included:

• KB914922 - Windows Defender is not included because it is not a component of Windows XP x64.
• KB923723 - Not included because this update is for Step-by-Step Interactive Training, which is not a component of Windows XP x64.
• KB926139 - Powershell 1.0 is not included because it is not a component of Windows XP x64.
• KB931374 - I haven't included updates for ADAM, but I'll look into them. See EDIT below.
• KB933579 - MSXML 6.0 has caused several problems in other update packs, so I don't include it. If you want the latest version, download KB954459.
• KB940157 - Windows Search 4.0 isn't terribly popular among those that have voted here previously. I won't include it.
• KB949269 - I haven't included updates for ADAM, but I'll look into them. See EDIT below.
• KB957938 - Silverlight 2.0 is not included because it is not a component of Windows XP x64.
• IE7 and its updates - I'd rather install after Windows installs so I have the option of uninstalling it when IE8 arrives within the next few months.
• WMP11 and its updates - I don't include them because I'd rather use boooggy's slipstreamer.

Further, the following addons probably won't work with XP x64:

This is the order of integration I'd recommend:

1. Use RVMi to integrate 5er_UpdatePack_XPx64SP2_2008-12_1.7z alone.
2. Next, use RVMi to integrate the following:
   1. 5er_Driver32_Fix_Addon_for_RVMi.7z
      
      Note: I haven't tried the following addons/installers, so I can't offer guidance on their use.
      
      
   2. CmdOpen-1.1.9-Addon.7z
   3. DirectXRuntimes32Bit-200811.exe
   4. DirectXRuntimes64Bit-200811.exe
   5. netfx_x64.exe
3. Use boooggy's WMP11 Slipstreamer.
4. Use nLite to add your drivers and tweaks. You may want to try using it for component removals and file patches.

EDIT: The ADAM updates listed above (KB931374 and KB949269) only seem to install in a domain environment. To complicate matters, the file in question (ADAMDSA.dll) doesn't exist in my XP x64 source. I'd imagine that the file is pushed from the Active Directory server once a client joins the domain. These updates cannot be slipstreamed into client OSes.

OK I got one for you if you don't mind. I have OEM of XP @ SP1,
Now I know there is an issue with the correct Windows Update installer that has to be upgraded prior to slipstreaming SP2 to the image, at least the last time I did this I had issues with the update installer.

So could you recommend a strategy whereby I can start with the clean SP1 CD.
Your comments, suggestions will be much appreciated.

I haven't heard of that issue, mearmortal. I believe you should be able to slipstream SP3 directly into your SP1 source.

I slipstreamed SP3 straight into my OEM Dell SP1a CD using the integrator with no problems.
