Post by Siginet » Sun Jan 15, 2006 3:20 am

Here is the Open Source DVD codec pack.

Please test it out as soon as you can. I have no way of testing it right now... but it should work fine. ;)

As allways... my addons are completley uninstallable if need be. ;)

Enjoy!

black screen wmp10

Post by gilesw » Wed Jan 25, 2006 7:53 am

Hello there i was hoping that this pack would allow dvd's to be played in wmp10 happily. I only got a black screen when it played though. is there something i can do to fix this? I was using booogies wmp10 addon.

thanks,

g.

It could be Booogies WMP10 addon, hold on I'll remove nVidia and try it again now that I have a fresh XPSP2 install without using the RVMUpdate...

EDIT:
Apparently he's correct in that it's telling me it doesn't have a way of decrypting the DVD's, I've tried it using the 2Fast 2Furious WS DVD and the Fast and Furious DVD both and it wouldn't work for either of them. It's not that it can't play them, but that it's not able to decrypt them. It must be due to the fact I have a TV tuner in my system and when it's software is installed as well must be how I am able to play them with using this software. I don't currently have the tuners software installed at this time...

Am currently ripping 2Fast 2Furious to see if that makes any difference to it... I'll use Daemon Tools to play it back when I'm finished and report back...

Okay, after it's been decrypted, it works just fine in the player, so those codecs don't work with DVD's that have been encrypted then.

That was the issue I had in VMware. I was able to see video before I added the DVD codecs. But afterwards I just got a black screen. But I just thought it was an issue with VMware. :( Maybe this codec is not compatable with the latest Updatepack and WMP addons? I don't know... I almost think the video works better without these codecs.

The video portion works fine, it's the encryption portion of it that's not working because it's non-existant. As long as the DVD isn't encrypted it will play just fine, in other words, if you don't use the likes of DVDDecryptor on your movies before playing the resulting files, it won't play...

Of course it won't play encrypted material.
These are just codecs and splitters.
There is no decrypter in that project.
But that's just fine as long as it plays uncrypted videos.
I would really love to see that this addon is maintained.
Thanks for the hard work Siginet :D

I have no problems with it either, I use DVDDecryptor on all my DVD's prior to playing them on the PC anyways, normally... ;)

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with MPC and these codecs? After installing these codecs I get an error when trying to make a DVD screencap (save image) that I did not get before. I am a new poster here and not in anyway trying to bash or complain, just trying to find answers and help.
