[Release] Kels' Runtimes v8.8

Postby Kelsenellenelvian » Wed Apr 05, 2006 6:10 am

Attention

I decided to remove the MS runtimes from this pack.
I did so because Yumeyao has and mantains a VERY excellent Microsoft Runtime Libraries Collection(x86)

Link = http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8563

Plus onepiece has some of the others built into his pack!

This is a collection of dll's that alot of programs need to run smoothly. Use this pack to avoid the This program needs blah.dll to run prompts. (especially if you use a lot of freeware or portable apps)

Partial List Of Included Runtimes.
Auto-it
Loads of various runtimes you might need for ANY portable\legacy app
Openal

Full List of runtimes included...

Runtimes are dll and ocx file a lot of standalone apps need to run properly. So if you need to ask then you don't need them. Not trying to be bitchy so I am sorry if that is the way it comes across.

Thanks, this is really useful: I hate having to hunt for these runtimes everytime I re-install Windows.

Nice one Uber Kel, now if it just had the C+ runtime files as well it would be the uberest runtime addon pack ever ;)

Very nice, this will likely become a regular part of my installs. One request / suggestion - I used to include AutoItX.dll in my now defunct addon pack. I'm not sure how many people ever actually need it, but I've found myself making a few VB scripts lately that call on it.

Working on adding the C+ runtime files and will add in the auto-it file also.

Edit --> Hey Rogue what is the version of autoitx.dll you have? Plus the version I can find is Autoitx3.dll v3.1.1.0 is this the dll you are refering to?

This really isn't a big problem or anything but here are some duplicate files in your pack.

Same version(hash) and already copied during clean sp2 install.
Checked hash on cd, your addon and windir/sysdir in that order.

Code: Select all

Obsolete:
advpack.dll MD5:2301AD7B56D8D26936FFF4968D2D9DC6

Yes maybe your right, as I don't run anything but XP here. But I've been comparing the diff between "Kels_Runtimes_Lite_addon_v1.1.CAB" and "Kels_Runtimes_addon_v1.1.CAB" (and a couple more runtime packs but irrelevant). I posted because:

So I have combined the two addons keeping all of the "safe" runtimes and throwing out all of the ones that already existed on your windows CD's.

And the ONLY difference between "lite" and version "1.0 of this pack" was the downgrade of a couple of newer files that were replaced on the cd. Version "1.1 of this pack" adds some extra runtimes.

What Kels says should be valid for all versions of windows for as he said compability reasons. So just because they are default on xp maybe they replace needed files on other versions.

Just as an example one of the runtimes replaced with the default xp version was olepro32.dll 5.2.3790.0 (from lite) wich is a win2003 file now it's 5.1.2600.2180 wich is default xp sp2 version.

I don't know wich version Windows 2003 have on the cd. So I can't say for sure that this pack is downgrading it.

I just think that the files that are duplicated should be removed if the goal was to not replace the defaults. Because it makes them kinda redundant.

Just trying to help, if i'm wrong I am.

AutoItX.dll does not appear to be getting registered. Should be a quick fix.

Quick question though,

where did you find the *d.dll files at? They are not in this download.

There are some other runtimes that could be added. atl70.dll and mfc70.dll, as well as mfc70u.dll. Would you like me to send them to you?

Get the unicode version, not the ANSI version.

@Kels...: Would you be able to update this soon please?

Another runtime which is missing is msvbvm60.dll version 6.0.97.89, which is part of 899282. I have tried getting it with no success. Would anyone else want to give it a go?

Maybe also include the files above recommended by me and Kamil.

Also, just discovered KB918898. It appears to update all of the runtimes from Visual Studio 2005 to version 8.0.50727.163. Maybe try to get that hotfix as well for this pack?

Thanks for sharing these. I've seen some controversy as of these versions are "real" and to clear it up they are from:

Microsoft® Visual Studio® .NET 2002 Service Pack 1

I just extracted all of them from the msp file and did a hash compare to the ones above and they do match.

Every *70*.dll is updated to v7.0.9955.0 except "msvcp70.dll".

If everyone knew this already sorry, but the only "info" I could find was from msfn and there they didn't think it was real (reshacked).

Hope it helps!

Also, just discovered KB918898. It appears to update all of the runtimes from Visual Studio 2005 to version 8.0.50727.163. Maybe try to get that hotfix as well for this pack?

Do you intend to include this, Kel?

Cobol Run Time Library

Postby pyroman1 » Thu Aug 17, 2006 3:42 pm

@Kel -
This may be a long shot, but does this runtime addon include the Cobol run-time library?

It is needed for an application called RealWorld (basically a very early predessor to QuickBooks and PeachTree). The app runs fine on pre-Windows 2000 computers, but errors out saying that the Cobol run time library is not installed if run on 2000/XP.

I've searched online and can't seem to find the library for download, but if this includes it that would be great. If not, oh well, still one computer running 98!
God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion…What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is its natural manure. ~ Thomas Jefferson

Is there any way to extract the DLLs from this without having to install VS.NET 2003 or this update?
