[Release] Koepi's XviD Codec Addon v1.1.3-070825

Post by Mrs Peel » Mon Apr 24, 2006 12:53 am

I personally prefer Koepi's optimised XviD builds to the standard XviD releases. For those who prefer Koepi's builds too here is a codec pack I made for myself which you might like ;)

Koepi's XviD v1.1.3-28062007

Op System: Windows 2000, XP & 2003 (x86 only)
Builddate: 2007/06/28

About Koepi's XviD
XviD is an open source MPEG4 codec for educational purposes only. It is developed by the XviD team.

I don't know if it's illegal to have a binary distribution as well, so with downloading it you agree to keep me free of any legal issues. This binary is _just for testing the code_ and to improve it, as we can't figure every situation out ourselfes. Thanks for respecting this!

I got involved in XviD development in january 2002, where XviD lacked a real internal curve compression algorithm for 2 pass encoding mode. That's where I started helping to modify those algorithms in a more nandub-like manner. Since then I help where I can in development.

If you have further questions or need some hints, visit Doom9's forum, we'd like to help you out there and have many advanced topics discussed already, so it's an interesting place to dig up information you want to know about XviD!
Please note, this is the first codec pack I have made and it works AOK on my Win2003 system here but I would appreciate some volunteers to test this out on some other systems for me to make sure it runs OK on them too.

Cheers ;)

[Edit 2007/06/20] Updated to version v1.1.2-01112006

Oh buggery bollox! I've told y'all how I am jinxed by having new developers versions released just days after I released an updated addon pack - and this proves it!!!! (((((sob))))) Nice to see a new Koepi final build tho (yayyyyyyy Koepi).

Cheers for the headsup tho, but uhmmmmm.... next time, you might consider including a thanks along with your request because now I don't feel motivated to update this thing for a few more days.... or maybe longer....

Lack of appreciation just makes me feel sooooooooo lazy (((((((yawn))))))))

ROFL! I do love a smarty pants. But the only sycophancy I respond to is genuine offers of boxes of Toblerone chocolate YUMMMMMMM. I'm a total whore for Swiss chocolate :P

Seriously tho, I'm gonna be a few days with this cos I need to rebuild it from scratch, create a proper uninstaller for it and do some test runs in VMware to make sure I did everything right. Still very much a plodding noobie with these new uninstaller thingees, but I hope to pick up speed with them after a bit of practice hehehe

Stay tuned..... ;)

I'm confused here - thanks for what?

I was just mentioning the program had been updated; I was making no request for anything.

Whenever I see something like this mere hours after it's release, in my mind I translate it to mean something along the lines of

"I've been using this installer that you've been maintaining for some time now and now that you have me taking it for granted I bloody well expect you to drop everything in your life and update it immediately so that I may continue my self serving, ungrateful leeching."

Perhaps that's what she meant when she was asking for something so little and inexpensive as a thanks (God forbid).

Thanks babe, I couldn't have said it better myself.

People wonder why I get so pissy here sometimes and this pretty much sums it up.

It was especially disheartening for me here last week when I updated about 30 of my old addon packs. I see that many of them have been downloaded thousands of times in the last 18mths and yet for many of them the first (or only) reply to their post was my own reply to announce that it is updated. It would be a small consolation even if people would reply to say that they are using the addon and that it works OK for them, just to get some feedback that my work has been useful.

I know I should just resign myself that this is the way it is for many people here - that they do not care one bit about the fact that all these useful addons they leech from us were made by a real person who did all that work for free - but I value my self and my time too much to think should have to show goodwill towards people who have no acknowledgement of my time and effort to share.

Updated to XviD 1.13 and rebuilt the addon with an uninstaller.........

Thank you Mrs Peel.
Your exhaustive efforts with this and all of your other addons are truly appreciated throughout this community.
I humble myself before you in the hope that you will continue in your quest for perfection in these already perfect addons of yours.
:)

Don't despair with the lack of praise. You should take the shear volume of downloads your addons have as a compliment. Look at it this way, if your addons were crap...nobody would download them.
