OEM XP with SP2B

Post by ton80 » Thu Oct 12, 2006 12:49 pm

Not too sure where this belongs so...; but does anyone have info on what stuff/patches/updates are included in this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6832116056
being an OEM XP Home with SP2B. XP Pro and Media Center 2005 OEMs are also the same!

OEMs always seem to be updated rather quietly.

I'm concerned since I am planning to "update" this with the latest RyanVM update pack to come out soon and other addon stuff for a friend's system unless otherwise told not to.

The other day I was surprised to see xp with SP2B included when I ordered it.

Need to make sure that Ryan update pack doesn't mess this new version up since Ryan's is based off of SP2-only sources.

Includes just the activex change or more?

I have the disk now. Is there a way to tell off of the cd itself what's different from a OEM with SP2 included?

I think, you can look in i386 folder, if it has a folder named svcpack. If there is, whats in it?
Dont have any more idea..

I've seen this OEM version. It appears to include .NET 1.1, although I've noticed that after adding the RyanVM pack the .NET is not installed. I *think* it was installed from the unadulterated OEM disk, but I wouldn't swear to it. Not sure what else may have been included in this version though.

It does have dotnet 1.1 but not sure if it includes the hotfixes. Most likely does but:

is that confirmed???
