These addons are built for
people who don't want to use update packs in their xp cd's. (Requested
here).
Notes:
- If you are already using an english update pack, you do not need to add these. If you add, no problems will occur.
- If you use one of these addons with an english update pack, no conflicts will occur. They all use the same file integrating method.
- If you are using Ryans Update Pack, but don't want Microsoft Update, you can use this instead.
- If you use WU addon, MU in Ryans pack wont get disabled. You should use this.
- You do not need to have sp2 slipstreamed for these addons. Just RVM Integrator or nLite to integrate them.
RyanVM Update Pack 2.1.11 is used as reference for these addons. And credits goes to Ryan for his update pack.
These addons are NOT TESTED, but I'm sure that they will work. I'm using the same method in my update pack, and never got errors.
Changelog:
2007-06-30: Both addons are updated to v7.0.6000.374 version of files.
2006-12-29: Both addons are updated to v5.8.0.2694 version of files.
Thanks RyanVM for hosting.

Dear MrNxDmX,
Thank You very much, I was asking Ryan several times, but probably he was to busy to help.
I noticed on the OfficeupdateEngine Addon thread (
http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=507) that Office update engine is updated. So i took old addon version and replaced one updated file. Entries seem not version related. Could You take a look, is it enough to replace opuc.dll with newer file and addon should work?
Would be nice if You could find some time to check.
Good wind and thank You for help,
Alex

Yeah, you are right, just grab the opuc.dll file from
http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdat ... /opuc4.cab, and replace the one in addon pack. Then compress it using 7zip or whatever you want, and use that. Thats all you should do

Edit: You should add this line to entries_OUE.ini file, put it at end:
Code: Select all
[i386_compress]
rvmtemp\extracted\opuc.dll

Thank You kindly for checking, I would spend a day and would not find error.
I will test all addons and report here later.
It's good that You are, man.

Sorry if it is stupid question, but if I cabbed opuc.dll before compressing all files to addon, do I need those lines to add?
Or they are neede only in case I compress uncabbed opuc.dll with other files?

These addons are not meant to be used with any Update Pack. If you're not using an Update Pack then you may use one or the other, but not both. They will conflict with each other, biatche.
All current Update Packs should include one of these already. If you're using an Update Pack then don't use these.

@ biatche: 5eraph is right. Nearly all update packs include microsoft update, so if you already integrated an update pack, you dont need to integrate any of these.
Windows update addon pack will integrate files for "Microsoft Windows Update v6".
Microsoft update addon pack will integrate files for "Microsoft Update". Microsoft update looks for xp, office and also some other programs for their updates. Thats the difference between them.
@ Alex, if you compresss opuc.dll file manually, you dont need to add those lines. If you dont know what I meant, just open old addon pack, delete opuc.dl_ file, put new opuc.dll file, then add those entries to entries_OUE.ini file. Thats all.

If I use windows update,
MU in RVMPack get disable or not? I m using MU right now but MU check updates for all the software install on system. especially office updates are big headache for me cause they get download but never install properly. Every time on shutdown, Windows start installing the updates and 10 to 15 minites of irritating wait they failed to install.

Use this instead, Spiritus. I don't know how to explain it any clearer than I already have in this thread.

@MrNxDmX
Thanks a lot for answer, I cabbed file befor compressing, so I won't need these lines.
Just great, You see, there are others, who do not like MU because of this bug with Office updates. Why Ryan insists on MU?
Does not matter now though, thank You for WU update and all explanations. That saved me a few hours I would spend testing.

Hi again,
Tested all addons, WU and flash are working greatly. But Office update engine addon - not.
I thought it is my mistake, but found this thred
http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act ... 29&t=86844
Could You read it and tell me if it possible to fix.
I got error that opuc.dll can not be copied during copying files setup portion.
BUT after install it appeared that engine is in place and nothing to install.
So except stoping install, no probs, but maybe it is possible to do something?
Thank You in advance,
Alex

Tried to get it over WindowsUppdate but only got the old files there...

It seems there's a new version of MU/WU. Do you plan to update your addons ?

I've tried to take newer files from RyanVM Update pack which contain latest version of WU/MU (7.0.6000.374) and put these files in the addon to replace the olders one. But it does not work.
You can have a look on these addons here :
http://kalhfr.free.fr/Divers/RVM_MU_Addon_1.2.7z
http://kalhfr.free.fr/Divers/RVM_WU_Addon_1.2.7z
Please, help me! I would really appreciate to slipstream the new MU/WU on my UXPCD
Thank you in advance,
Kal
