OK to save you the effort of doing search:
...myself wrote:I see no reason to delete svcpack pack folder;
The annoying thing why you would do this is the T-39 minute delay;
Which is solved by solely editing the svcpack.in_ cabinet.

How to do it?

Copy and expand the svcpack.ca_ file somewhere;
Under the section [ProductCatalogsToInstall], add ; in the front of all unwanted catalog files
Save changed and compress back the file, then place new file back to I386 folder.

Vista check the member forum.

Ryan already said that he will be doing exactly what you describe. Offering all updates without cats.

But that is probably quite a ways down the road so don't get your hopes up.

...what's the big fudging deal about editing one simple cabineted file on one's own?

Buletov, you don't seem to understand the concept here.

Ryan is NOT putting in many hotfixes to the pack because of this cat file thing. So it's not just editing one file, we aren't getting many updates in the first place.

Also it is a matter of convenience. A lot of people are asking on the forums why their install takes so long and what they can do about it. It is more difficult to explain to them what they must edit then it is to tell them "disable sfc in nlite".

And because this cat file thing slows down install so much Ryan is just going to be taking out EVEN MORE updates so that the install is faster. So that will be all the more updates that we will be missing out on for a problem that doesn't concern us at all.

So don't act like we're just too lazy to edit a file...

I would like a update pack with all possible updates as I delete the cat files and have for awhile.

Apologies...

I guess a checkbox in siginet's tool which would autoedit svcpack.inf file would partly be the core....
