64-bit addons

Post by jamesdean » Fri May 18, 2007 5:54 pm

Is there a section (or a thread) for such addons?

Usually, if it's XP 64 bit related, it will be here.
If anybody has made anything for standard XP that's 64-capable, I'm sure they'd mention that in it's release.

Just installed XP x64 here and found that many addons can be slightly altered to install via [DefaultInstall]. The only necessary edit I've noticed for some so far is to change [SourceDisksNames.x86] to [SourceDisksNames].

Of course, some x86 DLLs refuse to register in x64. I don't believe there's a workaround for them. One notable example is WMPBAND.DLL that's included in the x64 edition of WMP11 (which is actually an x86 application for XP/2003 x64).

And no matter how hard I try, I cannot get HashTab to work; regardless of whether it's the x86 or x64 edition.

If there are any changes needed for x64 in the integrator just request them.

Well, if nfm doesn't start up a Post-SP2 XP x64 Update Pack then I might give that a whirl. I don't see much point in creating addons if the OS isn't up to date from the start. :)

IE7:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0:
http://searchvb.techtarget.com/original ... 80,00.html
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/netfra ... 96329.aspx

nothing yet for:
Visual Studio 2005
Office 2003
MySQL
Symantec AV, Firewall, etc
Firefox, Macromedia, Skype, Nero…

but now with vista out soon these will be supported too ..

maybe someone can ask permition from nfm to maintain and update his pack here or do it over new and from scratch.
so guys who visit here can look out for updates .. and possibly addons which will follow ..

.NET 1.1 is legacy (32-bit) only. There are no plans to port it to x64. It will work only for emulated 32-bit applications under WOW64. This is why it is not included in the x64 editions of Windows XP/2003.

Check this out, both x86 and x64-bit versions available, am using hashtab_setup64 now on xp (x64)-works hugely fantastic!

...bottom of the page...

Also, Reg2Inf.46, notepad2-as direct replacement for all original MS notepads-both work absolutely with no problems.
Paint.NET.3.31 is flawless-native -64 bit.

Below is a VBS script I obtained many years ago for an excellent copy to-move to in context menu that works perfectly;

to install;

Code: Select all

If (MsgBox ("Are you sure you want to install the Copy/Move To Extensions?", VBYesNo) = vbYes) then
	Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

	' Copy uninstall file and Add uninstall reg entry
	WinDir = WshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%Windir%")
	Set fso = WScript.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
	Call fso.CopyFile("uninstallcopymoveto.vbs", _
		WinDir & "\uninstallcopymoveto.vbs", True)
	Set fso = Nothing
	BaseKey = "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Copy Move To Extensions"
	Call WshShell.RegWrite (BaseKey & "DisplayName", _
		"Copy/Move To Extensions","REG_SZ")
	Call WshShell.RegWrite (BaseKey & "UninstallString", _
		"cscript.exe " & WinDir & "\uninstallcopymoveto.vbs" ,"REG_SZ")

	' Add Copy/Move Extensions
	Call WshShell.RegWrite ("HKCR\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Copy To", "{C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}" ,"REG_SZ")
	Call WshShell.RegWrite ("HKCR\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Copy To",  "{C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}" ,"REG_SZ")
	Call WshShell.RegWrite ("HKCR\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Move To", "{C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}" ,"REG_SZ")
	Call WshShell.RegWrite ("HKCR\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Move To",  "{C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}" ,"REG_SZ")

	Set WshShell = Nothing

	MsgBox "Install Finished!"
End If
to uninstall (copied to %systemroot%)

Code: Select all

If (MsgBox ("Are you sure you want to uninstall the Copy/Move To Extensions?", VBYesNo) = vbYes) then
	Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

	' Remove Copy/Move Extensions
	Call WshShell.RegDelete ("HKCR\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Copy To")
	Call WshShell.RegDelete ("HKCR\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Copy To")
	Call WshShell.RegDelete ("HKCR\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Move To")
	Call WshShell.RegDelete ("HKCR\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Move To")

	' Remove uninstall reg entry and delete uninstall file
	BaseKey = "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Copy Move To Extensions"
	Call WshShell.RegDelete (BaseKey)

	WinDir = WshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%Windir%")
	Set fso = WScript.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
	Call fso.DeleteFile(WinDir & "\uninstallcopymoveto.vbs", True)
	Set fso = Nothing

	Set WshShell = Nothing

	MsgBox "Uninstall Finished!"
End If
Check this out for (x64) of "copy path"-works with no problems:

http://www.autodebug.com/download.php

A DotNet 2.0 through 3.5 with all Updates, SP's etc., everything .NET updated, all current for (x86) and (x64) in one executable here-everything installs without error:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

"You want the Redistributable Package from near the bottom of the page"

some info and where I got the headsup:

http://www.msfn.org/board/HOWTO-create- ... 05277.html

These are not addons, but, I use all now on XP Pro (x64) constantly with no errors at all. Just thought you might be interested in checking them out.
